  1. Prayers for the families... Here's a toast Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  2. That's what I figured and hopefully you are correct. Without being at Vance this is an academic argument ...no email is going to lay out specifics since those are best covered at CC calls or other forums. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  3. Sounds a lot like 3-5 Ops Grp DUIs in a month or so long period and now drinking is prohibited, with limited exception, by OG personnel until further notice. I've experienced similar while stationed at ETAR and the Ops Grp was the only unit getting DUIs and lots of them. The edict in that case was by the Sq CC. This may not be your or my preferred solution but it sounds a lot like the OG CC feels like he needs to get people's attention. Not sure what he has done up to this point since this is the only email published. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  4. What precipitated the alcohol ban? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  5. Oh, don't worry since the plan is to build back up to 350k active duty...all is well, there is nothing to see here. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  6. On this topic, while not a direct "appeal" for an LOR, you also have the option of filing an Art 138 appeal asking a re-dress of grievance. An Article 138 is for any grievance you have but in this case if an LOR is completely out of bounds for you performing a legal and justified act, it may be possible to get some things overturned. I will say that I have not seen one succeed but have only seen two... Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  7. Correct, they are administrative and not punitive, but an LOR can be "fought" through the AFBCMR. They are also an admin panel and not beholden to anyone in the chain of command, but have tremendous power. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  8. Absolutely true. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  9. Partially correct. You are entitled to an ADC but they don't necessarily stand in the room with you. They would do nothing else... The AFBCMR is actually the "appeal authority" for just about anything and is beholden to no one. You have to make a very persuasive argument but they can right an injustice. 10. The IG works well when there is a clear violation of an AFI or law and you have clear references...otherwise it can be a mixed bag. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

  13. I would find an apartment or similar place for on base-lodging rate or less off base. Then pick a date and quietly check out of lodging. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  14. It is supposed to be new accessions to the military. Unless something has changed your DIEMS date (redundancy noted) determines your retirement system eligibility. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  15. Which is interesting to me since most people sound dead set on moving on to something else regardless of bonus amount. The queep will stay the same or get worse...and if new guys opt in to the new blended retirement then there is even less of a reason to stick around past initial ADSC expiration Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  16. Money is a part of the overall problem. Would an increase in money and still doing all the 365s, ancillary training and the rest get you to stay? Would you stay til retirement? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  17. I guess that depends on what you consider "rare"!! Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  18. No I don't jest...and please don't call me Shirley. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

  20. I was TDY to Ft Dix NJ as a 2Lt and the base CC policy had the MPs stop and ticketing cars that didn't stop and exit the vehicle during retreat. End result of the ticket was supposed to be a personal meeting with the base CC. Also saw Army officers do this routinely at Maxwell. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  21. This memo throws things into question...but yes, you can according to the JTR. You are just reimbursed at the on-base rate and per diem specified on your orders, unless you have a non-a. This "policy", albeit illegal, in my opinion, throws all of that into question and sets you up for a fight. Does anyone have an actual AF/A1 policy letter or just emails about said memo? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  22. Not a lawyer... But directed just means that if you refuse then you just get reimbursed up to the government lodging rate and the per diem specified on your orders. If you get a non-a then that changes things. However with the latest shenanigans, who knows. Isn't there a congressman on this board or something ? Maybe he should take this on and ask the AF what the hell they think they're are doing. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  23. There used to be a piece of the JFTR that gave the schoolhouse CC the ability to set per diem for said schoolhouse and if you lived on base or refused on base quarters then you were stuck with that determination. Not sure if that transferred over to the JTR when re- written several years ago. A quick google search and Cntrl+F and you could probably find your answer. 24. Go to the DoD IG if you decide to go that route. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  25. Personally, I would rescind the original order and re-frame it to not include green cards/ permanent residents and some others, etc. My problem is that the 1952 law clearly gives the POTUS the sole authority to decide on this issue. Marbury v Madison and judicial review aside, it's a much easier argument to make when you use the law, as written, to then defend your position. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
