  1. Funny that no court has yet to rule on the constitutionality or merits of the case. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  2. Is this just an AF effort or does Fingers have DoD behind him? It sounds like the former...if so, I can imagine the response from the FAA. While he's at it, why not ask to move the retirement age up to 70. That would have more of an immediate relief on hiring than anything else. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  3. Unless the memo referenced above conflicts then that is not accurate. You can submit a separation package upon notification of the deployment and the DOS will take priority over the deployment. Had this happen to a guy in my squadron several years ago but that memo came out after that. Hoss gives you some good advice above and the other question above still stands...are you getting out anyway regardless of what happens with the deployment? If so, establish a DOS now and avoid all of this. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  4. Civilians don't wander the terrazzo anymore, post 9-11 (unless something has changed). Civilians absolutely don't wander the dorms, which is where this "encounter" took place. Also, cadets know when it is a reunion weekend so they aren't caught off guard by the "random civilian" roaming the hallways. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  5. So, honest question...20 years ago you are sitting at your ROTC Det/ OTS class waiting on your instructor. You know that the PAS has been talking about having some Vietnam vets visit ( on this particular day) to talk with you about their experiences from back in the day. A guy who is probably 30 years your elder makes eye contact and asks a question about where to find the bathroom, the PAS' office ( you name it) would you not at least through in a 'Sir' in your response? 6. I would argue that the things this guy bitches about are all things that have started over the course of the last couple of Commandants of Cadets and Superintendents. There is a lot of WHITLY and the place is going to hell thrown around by every class but I find the lack of discipline and decorum disturbing. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  7. For Strategic Communications... He was a speechwriter...let's be honest. https://mobile.nytimes.com/2016/05/08/magazine/the-aspiring-novelist-who-became-obamas-foreign-policy-guru.html?_r=1&referer=https://cdn.ampproject.org/v/foreignpolicy.com/2016/05/06/a-stunning-profile-of-ben-rhodes-the-asshole-who-is-the-presidents-foreign-policy-guru/amp/?amp_js_v=7 Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  8. Is it worth noting that a political advisor is sitting on the NSC? Absolutely. Look, I am no fan of Bannon and I think having him there is a mistake...but your statement that I quoted above shows your naïveté of politics and national security decisions. Go back and look at the Johnson Whitehouse and his Tuesday lunches which marginalized the NSC, for one example, along with just about any other decision. National security decisions are NOT made in a vacuum and they are not shrouded in some cover of "it's the right thing to do". Every decision is political. Wring your hands about Bannon, if you want. I will buy you a scotch and we can discuss it at length but don't try to make this sound like more than it is. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  9. My issued jacket from the early '90's is still holding up...with the Pop's mod since around 2000. Obviously before the shitty "leather" that they use now... Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  10. The T-DART program is alive and well but voluntary . I would like to know how you are working around the current hiring freeze, since AFRC A1 doesn't have anything in place to get around it currently. PM me if you want. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  11. ART positions are absolutely affected... Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  12. We were told no impact and yesterday we got a email saying, hold on, wait...we are trying to figure out what exactly this means for DoD. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  13. Don't have the data to back it up but the numbers are normally single digits from what I have been told. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  14. I did my ATP in Memphis. I don't remember exactly how we went about justifying each part. I am in the same logbook dilemma as you. I think we used the primary time logged as an MP and may have decremented it by some value for those times that I may have had an IP that was holding the A code etc. I'm sure there is someone out there with a better method, but it will be fairly easy to show that you have the mins. 17. Only try if you believe Manning is mentally ill. Manning didn't argue mental illness only that s/he served a greater good. If Manning had "aided and abetted " then 35 years probably wouldn't have been fine. Life? Maybe fine. I could be wrong but I think the idea of the taxpayer being off the hook for the sex change is already water under the bridge. 7 years is probably not enough to deter future leakers but I guess we can disagree on that point. 18. True but I don't separate motivation for espionage from the act itself. They all did substantial damage to national security through their actions. Are you saying that 'similar crime' must equate to similar motive? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  19. Similar crimes? For releasing 750k documents containing classified and sensitive information? Who got 3 years or less? Pollard - life in prison Ames - life Hansen - 15 life sentences Walker - life Clinton - declined to prosecute So I guess that averages out to 3 years. I guess it depends on what you call 'similar crimes'. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  20. What is the return date of the deployment? As an aside, your Commander must approve any terminal. Nothing really says that he has to approve any days of terminal. Would it be a d!ck move? Of course it would. What I have seen before is to limit terminal to 60 days, especially with circumstances like yours. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
