  1. https://popehat.substack.com/p/section-230-is-the-subject-of-the From Popehat "Very simply put, Section 230 is the law that says that, if I post something defamatory on Twitter, the victim can sue me, but not Twitter. It also says, again put simply, that Twitter has the right to moderate stuff on its site as it sees fit. The language of Section 230 is fairly clear, for something written by Congress. There is very little controversy amongst actual courts about what it means. The legal impact of Section 230 has been well-established by courts for decades, and efforts to evade it have been consistently rejected. However, it is unlikely that giving the government more power to regulate the internet will do anything to improve that.

The investigation did not uncover any additional misconduct," the Air Force said. The anonymous complaint that triggered the probe alleged that Hesterman also interfered in the military assignments of the female officer's former husband, according to a heavily redacted copy of the investigation report.
  6. Looks like USAA is switching to Visa, should eliminate all foreign transactions fees for members in 2016. I called USAA to see when this is rolling out but got no other answer than "January 2016".

I have heard of some "programming errors" on one of the COA sections. If you have submitted your recommendations multiple times and they should have "passed", you might want to email the webmaster and see if you are stuck in some sort of glitch.

I have a buddy living in OKC in a new home that does not have a basement. It seemed the same way in Altus too. Anyone have a reason why everyone doesn't have a basement in OK?
  13. Soldiers and sex: Can men evolve? "Then what will it take to end this seemingly endless parade of men who harass and undermine military women? I think we need a serious re-education program for all military men." Stand by for remediation.
  14. It took me a couple flights to remember that the autopilot and flight director don't talk like they did in a previous aircraft, but after a hundred hours in a jet/sim, can someone still be bad unsafe at using automation?

What a coincidence....

Atlanta FSDO was not at all helpful to me getting my civilian rating. The ops inspector in Atlanta went on a long rant about UPT students, letters we get from our SQ/CC, not having an actual form 8, etc. So I called the FSDO in Tampa, told them I was a recent UPT grad and I had some problems at another FSDO. The ops inspector at Tampa told me he had worked with military pilots in the past and he knew the process. He made copies of my letters from the SQ/CC, filed all the paperwork and I received my license in the mail just this week. I also called Oklahoma City and Denver: ops inspectors at both said they would accept the paperwork I had. Check these forums below for better info. Civilian Ratings
  21. I will plead ignorant of knowing exactly what that is but I presume it is some official photo. I got my passport picture done at a little shop just north of the USPS/Subway building, to the right of the fire station. There was also a Marine LTC there getting a formal photo done there. The 2 airmen at the shop work pretty inconvenient hours and take a nice 1.5hr lunch. I think you might need an appointment too.
