  1. I'm in SIRI and C but bought them both rather low. Most proud of SIRI going from under .50 to 3.35 today, definitely wouldn't buy it now as I think it's leveled off. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App!
  2. I have both, I just ground tested Allegra and was cleared to take it whenever needed. The broken nose thing was never an issue. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App!
  3. There were at least two from my previous 135 Sq. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App!
  4. Not sure about rest of AMC but we couldn't do simple password either, had to be a standardized password with numbers, letters, caps, etc. If you were caught with a different password than the standard (or no password) you get the hook. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App!
  5. I was quoted $1/pound for near coast to coast partial DITY. In an unrelated question, anyone know if I can count the weight of a pickup truck cap towards PPM weight?
  6. Has anyone looked into getting TA for Project Management Professional (yes, the acronym is PMP) certification? Still have my certificate available and I'm trying to find the best way to use it that'll help with a business job on the outside that I'd enjoy (I already have BSBA and MBA).

    USAA

Take a look at Navy Federal Credit Union. I personally use both, full disclosure one of my parents worked for NFCU for many years. NFCU is similar to USAA in that it provides almost everything (or at a minimum have a deal through another company) but in reverse, started as a Credit Union and moved into investments/insurance. Their car insurance is done through a deal with Geico whom I never had problems with, only switched to USAA because they were cheaper.
  8. At the risk of bringing this back on topic, I was surprised at some of their (possible) conclusions like changing the wiring. One of those things you don't think of till you're trying to run from a fire and you get tangled in a spiderweb.
  9. I use Genius Scan for iPhone, sometimes it's touchy with what surface your using as the background but otherwise awesome. Scans straight to PDF.
  10. Been back several times since that post, still a good idea if you can't live without Netflix, Hulu, or any other streaming services (the one exception is stuff off of iTunes on AppleTV). But the library still carries more DVDs and games than you should have time for. Just depends on what you like to watch... which reminds me a hard drive filled with movies also works... I've heard.
  11. The full app is free if you are a subscriber. Thank you expiring airline miles...
  12. Just got the brief on this yesterday, looks like the 135 will be getting it soon. My understanding is that in the airlines the program is catered to each airplane whereas ours is not (all of our standard configurations aren't even covered). This combined with the problems we've been having with flight managers lately (see recent ASAP reports) and inaccuracy of our weather packages makes it seem like an "optimized" fuel load will be highly inaccurate. That's assuming its a dead head with no A/R which would bring a whole new set of problems (any -10 guys used this with any success)? Besides that, I agree with everyone else, the AOR is a black hole of gas, especially in winter when ice fog reeks havock on any good intentions.
  13. Interesting factoids from Gen. Johns at a deployed location; the iPad (with case and window mount as he wants to buy it) will cost about $735 per crew member, same as a pair of boots and a flight suit. Total cost comes in around 10 mil (for AMC), and the part that really sells it to the shoes? The fuel savings alone will recoup the costs in six months. Also, another of his goals is to keep it from being like issued Blackberries (aka completely locked up). If he gets us iPads he will try to keep them as unlocked as possible, we'll see how long that lasts.
  14. Sounds like a step in the 135 descent check involving the boom letting us know the boom is stowed and latched... still....

If it was up to me, we'd give you all the deployments you could take, some of us need it right now.
  16. Deployed with an AC who just went through this, she said that requal cannot extend it past your 10 year AFSC, there are only two things they can extend for (PCS and one other thing I forgot, I think PME?). Problem is, most personnel offices don't understand this reg so you'll have to look it up and show it to them, I can ask her what the reg is.
  17. Netflix isn't too bad however that and a few other sites won't work unless you get a VPN (I knew nothing about this stuff till I got here). Take a look at strongvpn.com if you're interested before you leave otherwise you can't get to the site itself to buy it out here. I'm splitting it with my AC and it works out decently well, but as someone else mentioned the library is stocked with a lot of DVDs that permanent party can check out and black market DVDs are everywhere.
  18. Hard to tell as I'm permanent party, but I think transient aircrew that are on flight orders stay in the same kind of dorms as the permanent party folks whereas if you are not flying the aircraft you're using to get in/out of country I think you get put up in one of two tent cities. The tent cities do have their own chow halls and morale tents (barber, internet, pool table, etc). Just went and explored the newest one that used to be Lobo's Den in Ops Town but was taken away when certain aircrew ruined it.
  19. Most stuff is the same as above. Food in Ops Town still sucks but they seem to be taking critiques. Wing/OG leadership recently changed over but the Wing King approved a kiddie pool outside one of the dorms while flying with a crew, even offered to help find a hose or get the fire department to fill it. That kind of personality seems pretty promising. On the 135 side the SQ commander is also good, the times IFEs and such have gone down he's done a great job of backing up the crews. Bar on TCA side has got a great selection of beers and the wireless coverage is constantly growing, lost our bar and wireless in Ops Town but then they put up a router in the Ops Town chow hall. Highly suggest tupperware, otherwise you will get sick of sandwiches every flight. BX isn't huge but has most stuff you need. Feel free to post or PM any questions as I have very recent experience with Manas. Edit: Forgot to add, a Kabob shop, BK, and Pizza Hut just opened, you have to pay for them but it's a good break every couple weeks. Also, bring at least one set of conservative civvies for OBRs.
  20. AYFKM- Are You F-ing Kidding Me
  21. I did, no problems, but at the end (at least at Enterprise) they cut the check in your name so technically you need to deposit that into the GTC. I'm pretty sure all the apartment complex's took credit (aka GTC) but if you have the new CSA I have no clue how that works.
  22. They may not have first class but their loyalty program is pretty good. Just joined myself but looks like it's real quick and easy to earn free flights and drink coupons for beer/wine/stuff with alcohol. My only problem with SW is their customer service is so good I consider them an enabler to my sister's addiction to being late to everything. 2 on SW's book, great reading.
  23. Depends on what you want, Army is tougher, AF has better quality of life.
  24. Update on the three flights to check at PIQ issue. As of the latest class to hit the flightline and the next class (mine) they will be adding 2 flights, including a pattern only so sounds like a move in the right direction.
  25. Yes, in hindsight, myself, or the O-5 even, should have said something, I admit I fell into the category of "if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem".
