Maybe they can rezone all of that property to build low income apartment buildings. That's what they (LA and Sacramento) keep pushing down to the cities in Orange County. I feel for the victims of the fire (I can see the smoke from my home) but it couldn't happen to a more smug community. That being said, I pray for the firefighters and the families who can't afford to rebuild.

Thanks for asking Dirk. My base is closed for the season with the aircraft in annual maintenance, so I'm not down there now. They did staff some additional tankers to help the next couple of weeks, but some family obligations are keeping me at home. Most of our pilots are off for the season, so I don't think they'll have a problem finding enough to fill in. Wish I could. It looked pretty raunchy with those winds, the Santa Ana's aren't that fun to fly in when they are ripping. Very tragic fires!

USAA names a new CEO this morning. Juan Andrade. Article says he's only the second CEO with no military background, Peacock being the first. He's been on the USAA BoD for 4 years and is leaving Everett Group, a multi-national insurance provider. It's pretty clear the USAA trajectory isn't going to change. Over the past few weeks, I've moved nearly all my assets out, changed my direct deposits, leaving just enough to keep a checking account open.
