  2. Since I'm a nice guy, I'm going to help you out with the emotional hurt you're obviously experiencing. Here you go: Just another example of progressives holding up a hashtag sign...how did that work out? Perhaps the hashtag signs is now strong part of using diplomacy as an instrument of power? But hey, it felt awesome to hold up that sign as Crimea was being taken by Putin... We are a superpower, so it makes me laugh when our leaders say things and hold up signs but in fact don't actually do much of anything. Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy the President decided to not engage militarily...but holding up a sign essentially saying we want to help Ukraine is laughable, especially when you look at the results. Just like having a base function where men walk in women shoes.

  4. Not sure this belongs here, but then again, where better than the Squadron Bar - whether an official one, or at your home? Via Christina Olds on Facebook: How many pilots know that Robin Olds was also a terrific artist? My dad humorously doodled and sketched his way through classes, briefings and meetings during his entire career. People have often asked me to share his drawings and I have finally put a few of them on my artist site at Fine Art America. Here are only a handful out of the more than 500 he left with us. So, if you want just a notecard or a big poster for your Squadron Ops room, have fun looking at these. I love his irreverent and usually politically incorrect sense of humor. She's got both prints and some of the original artwork from the 40's and 50's available (at what I'd think are pretty reasonable prices...) Please see her page at:https://fineartamerica.com/art/all/christina+olds/all

  6. This is what made me view Michelle Obama's hashtag activism with distaste. Taking to the internet en mass is a way for the people to force those in power to do something or pay attention to an issue...Michelle, on the other hand, has very close access to someone with a LOT of power. Yet she's on the internet holding a sign, as if she doesn't interact with POTUS basically every day. If Michelle wants something done, she knows who to talk to. Did President Obama shoot her down, and force her to take to Twitter to make her point? I doubt it. To me, it would be like the Waltons holding a sign protesting for better wages for Wal-Mart employees, or Tim Cook holding a sign protesting working conditions at the Foxconn facility where iPhones are made.

  8. The only factor that should be considered regarding a change in policy is, "Will this change improve our fighting forces?" If the answer is no, which is the only honest answer in this case, then shelve the idea......period! And if any of you think that the standards will be upheld and no women will be allowed to pass at a lower standard, your smoking crack!

  10. Is there any evidence that shit like this works? If there is, i'll gladly buy some size 13 heels and prance about until the raping stops. If there isn't any such evidence, maybe we could take some of the time and money we are currently devoting to awareness building and spend it on shit that would help. I'll offer providing mental health services for victims and testing this nation's massive backlog of rape kits as areas where our efforts would be better spent.

  11. Uber Thread Revival! By the way, I had a tough time finding the original as there were like 30 references to it in other threads… Anyway, I had to tell this story. I was coming back from leave last week and picked up a connection from Sacramento to SEATAC on an Alaskan Air Flight. My wife was TDY, so I was traveling alone and therefore was proudly sporting my much coveted Defensive Egg T-shirt. It’s hard to explain to people without sounding like a geek, by the way…I usually say: “it’s an inside joke from this internet blog” See what I mean? Anyway, when I stepped on the jet, the stewardess (she was a cutie by the way) gave me a weird look and started reading my shirt out loud. Then she looked up with the same look on her face and the conversation went like this: Me: "it's a fighter pilot thing, but I'm actually a cargo pilot..." Her: (cutting me off) "oh, I know all about it..." Me: (a little surprised) "oh, you know about the defensive egg?!" Her: "yes, my grandfather was an instructor pilot in biplanes, and my father was a fighter pilot and cousins...blah blah (I start to zone out looking at her boobs...kind of missed some of what she said)" Me: "Wow, so you know all about it then, there aren't many people that have heard of the defensive egg!" Her: "Yeah, most of my family is in aviation" Me: "Yeah that's pretty cool...blah blah and so on (still looking at boobs)" The conversation went on like that for a while, and then I headed to my seat. Anyway, if I were single, I would have hit it. So, moral of the story is, wear your defensive egg t-shirt and you might get the opportunity to hook up with a hot stewardess.

  12. This is an example of progressive idealogy? Oh yeah, I forgot the opposing conservative stance on the issue, #RapeThemKillThemAndDumpTheBodies. As pointlessly symbolic as this was it makes my head hurt to think of the paranoia you must live with if you can find partisan politics in this. WTF indeed.

  13. Oh good. More one-off, cherry-picked, anecdotal examples purported to be representative of one, and only one, ideological belief system (nevermind the fact that these people are again, barely classifiable as politicians, and certainly not leaders of the country). You do understand that politicians of all ideological convictions make a living off of saying things that they don't have to follow through on, no? Every presidential campaign depends on it. On principle I refuse to post any of the readily accessible pictures of conservatives holding up retarded hashtags for causes they brain-dumped two seconds after their press secretary snapped the photo. You're apparently blind to them, so why waste my time. As I said earlier, I don't have enough days left on Earth to gather a representative sample. The fact that you only actually internalize politicians promising the world and then not delivering for one very specific belief system while absolving those who do the same thing but are more like-minded with you is sad. It's as sad as meaningless gestures taking the place of necessary actions.
