  1. After try 2, he should have probably just gone to finance. And, you know...be an officer. ETA I'll be perfectly honest. Officers need to stop playing the victim card so much. Step up to the plate and lead. If something isn't going how it is supposed to, be polite and work your way up the chain. You'd be surprised and how far common courtesy goes.

  2. You're right but if I had to choose, I think I would go with CA. At least they have things like the sanoma wine country, the mountains, etc. Not many people I know take vacations to NJ over CA.

  3. That's EXACTLY the right public response. Anything else makes senior folks, and all the folks around them, even more desirable as a target. Privately, the family should get a personal note and phone call from POTUS, and a significant dignitary at the funeral.

  4. Many senior leaders value the wrong things. We overvalue entertainment, image, compliance and control. We undervalue combat, results, creativity and trust.

  5. A buddy of mine actually submitted this to finance in his efinance voucher. To be fair, his voucher from his deployment, which he returned from almost a year ago, has been rejected 10 times. Yes, 10 times. He is fed up, as some of the reasons for rejection have been absolutely ridiculous. Some of them were legit but it has gotten to the point where he has had enough and wanted to send a message. Note: He is well aware of the potential back lashing, but doesn't care. To whom it may concern, The last time my voucher was rejected was because I failed to include details such as the airports from which I traveled to and from for my post-deployment leave. I realize the information I left out is very important and I apologize. So with this submission, I have furnished the requested information. Unfortunately, however, I don't remember all of the travel details. I don't remember the exact route I took from my address in Cherry Hill, NJ to the Philadelphia International Airport. I usually take Route 70 to I-295 and cross the Walt Whitman Bridge into Philadelphia, but I don't recall how traffic was that particular day. I could just as easily have taken Route 70 westward all the way to the Ben Franklin Bridge and crossed there instead. There was most likely a stop at Wawa, and if there was, I admit that I do not remember the address of that particular Wawa. Therefore I did not include that in the travel itinerary. I do remember that my seat belt was firmly buckled and that I arrived to Philadelphia International Airport safely. I also forgot which gate my flight departed from. Again, I apologize for not remembering all of the details. It has now been nearly 10 months since this travel occurred, so please forgive me for forgetting a detail here or there. As for the flight from Philadelphia to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, there are a number of details that I was never even aware of, thus I did not include them in the travel itinerary either. For example, I am not exactly sure of the route the pilots took. If absolutely needed for the approval of this voucher, I might be able to research the archives of past commercial airline flight plans and furnish this information. I'm not completely sure archives like that exist, though, and if they don't, I again apologize for the inconvenience. One thing I am absolutely sure of is that I ordered a coffee when the flight attendants were handing out complimentary beverages. One cream, no sugar. Please excuse my lapse of memory regarding these particular details. I reiterate these are just a few examples of which I do not remember all of the specific details regarding this deployment travel voucher. I know I have apologized several times already, however no amount of words can truly express how sorry I am for not including all of the travel itinerary details in the original submission of this voucher. I realize how inconvenient it must be to have not gotten the chance to pay me for this travel voucher after 10 long months. Sincerely, xxxxxxxxxxxx

  10. That "next senior officer" has been identified as being named "Destiny Savage" (AP News). With that name if the whole Navy boat thing doesn't work out, she's still set for a career. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App!

  13. You're right the next time any government leader dies we should just forget about it; JFK shouldn't have gotten the enormous parade and horse drawn carriage cause it just made future presidents "more desirable targets". News flash, anyone with stars on their uniform in a combat zone has been a "desirable target" since the beginning of warfare. This man from all appearances was a well liked leader, who dedicated 30 years of his life to his nation, he should be recognized by the CINC for his sacrifice. Does recognizing him trivialize the deaths of junior officers or enlisted? No, I don't believe so, this man was a high ranking leader, who's death leaves a gap in the senior leadership that's not as easily replaced as a Sgt. or Lt.; It sounds harsh, yes but its a fact.

  14. AFPC has a DIPSHIT branch. I guess I always figured as such, but this is the first time I've seen it in an official AF Q&A document.

  15. Trying to include every flavor of society into the military is just irresponsible mainly because filling military (deployable) billets with non-deployable personnel just makes your "expeditionary" force less "expeditionary." You just become a government work program. Sure, it looks great on paper (granted, that is what is most important to the AF), but in practice you're actually hurting the overall mission (not as important to the AF). The military needs to be deployable. If you or your job isn't deployable (and when I say deployable, I mean necessary in the deployed environment...not just a place filler so we look like we're 'part of the fight'), it shouldn't be a military billet. Making everyone feel warm and fuzzy and important should be the last of the priorities. I agree with M00SE above, nothing against those with disabilities serving their country...they can do it as a contractor who won't need to deploy. It couldn't hurt starting them off in jobs like finance or anywhere in AFPC...it is quite possible they'd do a much better job than the clowns currently in those jobs.

  19. I would reshingle all of downtown Minneapolis, naked, in January, and then run an ultramarathon through the Sinai in July for the privilege of murdering these lunatics. "It's their country" be damned . . . some things need to get purged from the gene pool from the barrel of a gun. To whom much is given, much is expected. I can't volunteer to put anyone's neck on the line but my own, but this stuff . . . yeah. Give me any CAS platform still flyable, and I'll do it for free.

  21. Maybe John Kerry can be that dignitary and throw his purple hearts at the General's casket, like he did when he got back from 'Nam. These clowns don't give 2 shits about the military, why any of you think differently is beyond me. If the General was a professor at Berkely, then the whole crowd would be in tears.
