For our airline brethren, time to change this antiquated 77-year old law which gives almost all labor negotiating power to management. https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/repeal-or-change-railway-labor-act-put-stop-lenghty-negotiations/jMz3ckM7

I was looking to see in anyone on here can help me find any information on MSO vacancies in the RC-26 units. I'm thinking of options outside the C-130 community for nav-type folks. The recent squadron closures in AFRC have really limited opportunities, so it may be time to move on. DMs are welcome, thanks.

I recently got an email stating I've been added to an upcoming RCOT class. I thought that was just for incoming medical professionals, and I'm going in as a non-prior sponsored by a Reserve unit to go to UPT. Does anyone have any further information??

I’m curious if anyone has experience and/or advice for my situation. I’m a former 13B left AD in 2012. Transitioned to IRR and after establishing civilian career, attempted to join ALO unit as Cat E reservist. During the enrollment process I crossed 2 years in the IRR and was unexpectedly discharged. Fast forward a couple years later, I’m looking to rejoin the Reserve to finish my 20. I understand the administrative process to get me back in is going to take a year or more, but looking beyond that I’m trying to get a feel for how I should approach prospective units to get hired with a sizable break in service. I work/live close to MacDill so I’m looking there. Any guidanc…

So, I'm 17 and am a senior in high school. My goal is to be a pilot in the reserves or ANG and, after doing some extensive research and talking to many recruiters, I've developed A semi cohesive road map on achieving that goal. My plan is to enlist in the AD Air Force a few months after graduation. I'm hoping to enlist for 6 years as to give me so extra cushion time as well as a better starting pay. I'll probably go into some sort of maintenance AFSC although I scored pretty well on the ASVAB so I should be qualified for everything. During my time in the AD Air Force, I Plan on using the benefits such as TA as well as many benefits online military colleges give, to get my…

Didn't see a dedicated thread so... here we go. Anyone have insight if this requirement is going to survive the pilot crisis? Anyone want to start a movement for the ARC (guard & reserve) to have their own course that actually functions online via one website and is relevant to TR's that have other jobs? Anyone know anyone that said screw it and left because it's easier to do that than force feeding BS? Cheers

Can anybody point me in the direction of a reserve NSAV unit POC? Like to move over to the PC-12, DO-328, or the M-28. PM if you like. Currently C-17 reserve EP. Yes, I used the search function.

Although I've been on active duty for over 20 years, please forgive me for not knowing more about the nuts-and-bolts of the Reserves. So, I'm an O-5 with over 20 years. Let's say a Reserve unit wants to hire me into a flying position. And let's say it will be full-time for a while, and then part-time ("traditional Reservist"?) - can I retire from active duty so that I get my retiree pay on days I'm not working as a Reservist? - on active duty, an O-5 has to retire at 28 years of service. Does that also apply to part time Reservists? - what other pitfalls and considerations are there for someone over 20 years?

Due to a lot of misinformation from Regular Retirees and ARPC not being clear on Reserve Retirement rules and having run into more than a couple reservists telling me they stayed in the SELRES/ANG for 24 years in order to "max the pay chart" for retirement, and I think, obviously the ARC enjoying that people do not understand and therefore serve additional years unnecessarily, I am compelled to write this and wish it to become common knowledge for anyone seeking a reserve retirement. The only stipulation to carry O-5 into retirement is serving on the Reserve Active Status List for 3 years Time in Grade. Now it is unclear that if those 3 years are only years on the RA…

Does anyone know how to get a hold of information or contacts on RPA reserve units holding UPT boards. I have searched all over sent dead end emails, and phone calls trying to find information for Creech AFB reserves. After interviewing 4 times and finally getting selected for a tanker spot, I was recently DQ'ed for a eye issue at my FC1, but was told I still qualified for RPA spots. While the news was a kick in the nuts, I still want to fly for the Guard or Reserve even if its unmanned.

I’m curious to know if any Reserve member bound for the T-1A track has ever been able to / or could be able to switch to the T-38C track based on their performance during Phase II. Aside from their commitment to their sponsoring unit, and now that all Reserve members in UPT fall under the blanket of the 340FTG, would such a change ever be considered for a student with exceptional performance in Phase II, especially if it was suggested and recommended by their UPT FLT/CC? Likewise, we have seen some Reserve and Guard members who are fighter bound, but are unable to meet the standards required in Phase II to track to T-38s. Is there any consideration given to exchanging …

I realize that Guard units may have a different answer to this question, but for the AFRC units out there: How many/what percentage of the LtCs are in your unit were promoted PV? Thanks.

It seems like it’s hard to find good gouge for an AD retirement from AFRC, so this one’s even harder. For someone who gets into AGR territory where they can claim sanctuary and make it to 20+ years AD, what are the options from there? Are they required to take the AD retirement then, or can they defer that and return to service as a TR? More importantly, can they draw an AD retirement after that, or is it take an AD retirement when leaving AGR status or not at all?

Anyone have a good reference or FAQ site they can give that spells out what an employer is required to do for reservists/guardsmen when it comes to their Drills, TP's, or "Mil leave" as some call it? Iv done some searching but most my web results refer to a reservists rights when they are called up for a deployment and how the employer must hold their job. I’m not looking for that, just regular rights when it comes to the basics as mentioned above. Thanks!

I separated from active duty 1.5yrs ago after 7yrs and 9mo of service. I was not RIF'd or VSP'd, had no remaining ADSC, and did not separate under any special program. While going through the separation process every time it came up in the paperwork or in dealings with MPF it was clear that on their end they believed I had no remaining Military Service Obligation. I was close, but just short of the 8yr mark, so my understanding was that they were wrong. However, not having any desire to voluntarily continue in an IRR capacity if I didn't have to, I kept my mouth shut figuring I might be on the positive end of a military paperwork f*ckup for once. I've been happ…

I did a search and didn't a thread dedicated to retirement changes so please direct me to it if you know of it. It is not clear to me how the new retirement changes affect the reserves. I have about 9 years of active duty and 1 year of reserves. Am I still eligible for early reduced retirement now that I am no longer active?

I retired back in 2014 but many of my Squadron mates are reaching age sixty or hitting the age sixty rollback and applying for their retirement and running into long delays getting their retirement pay (mine took six months). Apparently when the ARPC implemented a new FSS system back in January there was a massive data loss with over 60k people affected. Many veterans who were already long retired and collecting a check had to resubmit their retirement packages. As a result there is a huge backlog for ARPC to close out retirement applications. As you know once you turn in your CAC card you are effectively cut off from all your digital data and are at the wh…
