So I got my nice Air Force Times yesterday and as mentioned before on here, 4K over commissioned Lt's and young Capts, 11FX (Pilots) are like 1160 approx over filled, yada, yada, yada. Pilots don't need to worry though since they've put so much money into us and all that stuff. However, due to this force shaping, is palace chasing a more viable option for now guys only 20 months into their 10ADSC? Due you think AFPC is more prone to let us go? Is this something I should pre-emptivly attack by "asking the questions" or just ride it out and see what happens? I'm in a little different situation than most probably are as well. I'm an A-10 TFAPer (you know, the thing were I get…

(i.e. ppl and other various ratings... aviation experience in general.) Is it rare for people to go in with 0 flight hours? Thanks guys - Mark [ 10. I am sure some relic-lovers will enjoy this. The link below has some pics I took of great Air Force machines fading into history out in Avon Park bombing range. Full-screen versions print out well. https://hollysid.tripod.com/sid/index.album?i=2

With the chance of sounding like a complete moron: What do the numbers mean after the Pilot/Nav training classes? (i.e. Class 0553) I know they signify what class you are in but do they actually have any meaning?

I have 800K of life insurance through AAFMAA for $35/month and $300K through AFA for about $16/month. I also have $400K of SGLI, which happens to be the most expensive of the three. $1.5 million is a little excessive for us, is there any reason why I shouldn't cancel SGLI? My one concern is that I trust SGLI will be quicker and more reliable in paying than AAFMAA and AFA. AAFMAA and AFA don't have a war or aviation clause, and as near as I can tell they are both legitament companies, however, I don't really know if there is some small print that I didn't read in the coverage that will preclude my family from getting the death benefit. Any input? Thanks

Nope, I'm not asking about sex-parties at Little Rock... Just wondering if anybody had further info on a rumor: Apparently, there was a recent incident, resulting in significant aircraft damage, for which I hear one of our previous students was responsible. The individual just barely passed here at Corpus. Wanted to fish for more info ("unnofficial" can sometimes be the best) before I bring it up in a meeting. [ 28. From BBC News A Nato aircraft has crashed in the southern Afghan province of Kandahar, a Nato spokesman has said. It was not immediately clear whether there were any casualties. The crash was not the result of enemy fire and the plane which was supporting a Nato mission in the area was not a fighter jet, Maj Scott Lundy said. Nato forces are at the scene but there is no word on how many people were on board. A large Canadian contingent is based in Kandahar province. To the fallen Cooter [ 02. From what I have read, Altus trains only C5, C17 and KC135 crews. If this is true, where do KC10 crews get their training? At their home bases, ie: Travis, McGuire? [ 13. September 2006, 13:22: Message edited by: robot_chicken ]

The AF had the colors. I only wish they had taken one of those rifles and shot the b1tch when she fouled up the National Anthem. It's "gave proof through the night," not "to the night." Fvcking celebrities. The fans were belting it, though. Made me proud. Just watching some WWII movie and a question just came to me... Pilots that shoot down another aircraft get "kills", five to be an ace but, what did the gunners (B-17, etc.) get when they shot down another aircraft? I tried ye old Google with no luck (although somebody will prove me wrong).

Anyone know of anyone who went from fixed wing to rotorcraft in the reserves? I am entertaining the idea. I do not know if it is possible. I guess I would have to have a unit sponsor me for it....
