Hey guys, I've been diagnosed with a pretty f$%ked up back and there is a good chance I will be permanently DNIF'd for it. Although I would love to get out via VSP or Palace Chace, it does not appear to be an option at this time. So, I pose this question, is it possible for me to cross flow into another AFSC, say Acquisitions Management (63A) to finish out my 10 year ADSC? Thanks for the help...

Unmanned aircraft program takes on first class Hopefully they can increase the volume in the 18X pipeline enough to reduce demand and cut the non-vol 11X pulls.

I am down here at pilot training and a friend of mine (also guard) said that there is a way to have your unit bring you back home over the holidays and get you per diem. Now he seemed to think it was called something like "tdy recall" but when I called my unit they had never heard of it and I was just wondering if anyone else has? Thanks

Has anyone requested and been approved permissive TDY to attend Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) ground and/or flight training? I'm scheduled to attend a course next month and was planning on taking leave to knock it out, but wanted to look into PTDY as an option. What is your experience and/or take on the idea? AFI36-3003 allows a commander to grant permissive TDY status "to attend meetings or seminars sponsored by non-Federal technical, scientific, professional (e.g., medical, legal, ecclesiastical, Information Technology, and mechanical) societies and organizations" as long as it has "a direct relationship to the member’s primary military duties and clearly enhance h…

So has anybody else been issued a CAC reader to check your email at home (err TDY rather)? From what I understand, they have eliminated web mail all over and this is the only way.

Where is it written that we have to use the GTC while TDY? And has anyone ever gotten spoken to about using a personal credit card on the road instead?

How do I get my guns on base? Do I have to check them, or can I just pack them in my luggage, drive on base, and unpack in my base house? Thanks! [ 14. April 2005, 13:03: Message edited by: Jordan ]

I doubt that it is possible, but can you take personal photos while flying combat missions? I've read that it's ok to take a digital camera while flying other types of sorties, but I'm curios about combat. Can anyone shed some light on when and when not you can take photos while flying.

I used the search function and came up empty handed The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is probably the most popular personality test in use, and I've heard that they used to give it to pilots in the navy. I wouldn't be surprised if many of the guys on here have heard of it. The test indicates how you use your mind based on 4 scales: Favorite world: Do you prefer to focus on the outer world or on your own inner world? This is called Extraversion (E) or Introversion (I). Information: Do you prefer to focus on the basic information you take in or do you prefer to interpret and add meaning? This is called Sensing (S) or Intuition (N). …

I will be moving to the Peterson AFB area this summer and have questions about living there. 1) I'm giving my car to my younger brother and am shopping for a "new" used one. Do you HIGHLY recommend getting some type of 4WD since it snows there most of the time? Note that I'm a California boy who has never driven in the snow! 2) I'm also looking for apartments in the area. What places do you recommend? I'm willing to commute 20 mins (tops) from home to base. Thanks!

Hello, I did a search for pet information while in the military, and it pretty much came up dry for what I'm looking for. I was wondering how easy it is to have a pet while in the military, especially within the flying community. I am pretty much looking for any advice, as to when would be best in your career to deal with a new pet, how easy it is to PCS/TDY with pets, etc. Anything would be helpful. Also, please share what(if any) type of pet you have, and how well it works out for you, and any problems you have run into while on active duty. I am really wanting to buy a puppy right now, but don't want to regret it a few months from now when it becomes a head…

https://www.washingto...34cd_story.html He's lucky he didn't get life or the death penalty for what he did and now there are organizations petitioning President Obama to pardon him and his lawyer stated that he is planning on living his life as a women and if Ft. Leavenworth doesn't provide him with the hormone therapy he requires, then they are going to sue. WTF?!? When did espionage carry such a light sentence and when did federal prison become Club Med? Hi all, I'm a C-17 pilot at McChord, and have recently authored a piece of software that lets military pilots load airspace, waypoints and PFPS routes into Google Earth. The software is free--I have written it purely for the benefit of my fellow pilots who may wish to use Google Earth to help with mission planning. If you're interested, I invite you to vist www.googleearthpilot.com. The software is available for download, as well as a quick PowerPoint that showcases what the product can do. The software is a beta release. I've done extensive testing myself, but I'm eager to get the product into pilots' hands for hands-on testing and feedback. Enjoy! If you d…

Is there a way to calculate a start point for a decel at a set rate? Example: 110knot cruise I want to slow to zero at 5 knots per second to arrive over a waypoint with zero ground speed at what point prior do I have to start my decel?

Just taking a shot in the dark to see if anyone else has done this. I'm getting ready to load up PFPS on my intel-based macbook and was wondering if anyone knew of issues, drivers, etc. that I might run into. Also, if anyone has used Parallels vs. Boot Camp and can make a recommendation as to which would be better for this purpose, that would be helpful. JSM edit: Realizing that this will apply to a very small group of people, witty and sarcastic responses are welcome

I was wondering if anyone had any infomation about Luke, the surrounding area and job market for teachers/substitute teachers. I'd also really appreciate any tips on where to live (we'll be there 9 months for his casual status) and what base housing for officers is like. Thanks everybody!

Hydro mentioned something that I haven't seen since the first page of posts. What exactly are the PHOENIX programs. I've heard very little about them and was wondering what they are all about. I'm still pretty new to the Herk, but the more I know about career progression and the T-ODP the better. Also, any of you exchange types, how early did you start asking for that? What assignments did you have previously? Thanks [ 30. May 2006, 03:10: Message edited by: hockeymv ]

I just received notification that my US Standard Issue (Oakley's military program) account needed to be renewed. As a part of that process, I was instructed that a copy of my military ID card was required... I informed them that photocopying U.S. Government identification cards is a violation of Title 18, U.S. Code Part I, Chapter 33, Section 701 and punishable by fine and imprisonment. And asked for instructions on how to renew my account without this requirement. Then I started wondering if everyone on here--especially some of the younger crowd--was aware of this, so I am posting the info here. From what I have been told, there are exceptions f…

I've tried using the search feature, but have came up dry. I understand general physical fitness will be beneficial to having an effective AGSM and maintaining a fitness program (beyond the stellar unit PT program) is required. I didn't know if there was any experience with certain types of exercises that could contribute to handling g-forces more effectively. To me, the un-anointed, the AGSM is a heavy core and lower-body strain, so it would seem that full-body movements would produce the best results (squat, deadlift, standing press, et cetera). I'm a fit dude and have lifted competitively in the past, but am I giving this too much brain power? Should I just k…
