Well I am just starting college and I decided to do my research on becoming an Air Force officer early. After college, I plan to go to law school. After law school, I'll hopefully(God willing) get an OTS slot with a pilot/nav slot upon commissioning. I know it's possible to then do an intraservice transfer to a JAG position after 4 years of AD and before 10 years of AD. I talked to a few AF recruiters about it and they don't know anyone who has done it. Some didn't even know it was possible. Has anyone here done or plan to do such a thing? Any tips or hints in general? Also, being a pilot requires a 10 year commitment(after UPT) and being in JAG requi…

Out of curiousity.... Anybody know of anyone who switched from a reserve pilot slot to AD while in UPT (phase II)? Is it possible? Guppyguy

Can AF aircrew accept any promotional items an FBO may offer? The FBO I work at does the AvTrip program through AvFuel. Every gallon you buy you get 4 points, every 5000 points is worth a $50 savings bond. You could rack up some serious $ if you put several thousand gallons in your C-whatever per stop. I've heard of other FBOs that offer a free steak dinner per so many gallons. There was a rumor that the other airport here in town was getting a lot of business because the hot receptionist had a thing for pilots and would take them to a back room to show her appreciation. Her boss didn't know if he should fire her for sleeping with customers or giver her a raise …

For those of you that wander to the "other" (political) side of the Dynamic Truth message board, beware. There's a guy over there that's getting a bit carried away. Because I support the war in Iraq, he started posting photos of wounded Iraqi kids and saying he'd like to shoot my kids. And this same guy supposedly looked up personal info (name and address) of another poster. A few quotes from this guy (ToddFortuar): https://www.dynamictruth.com/cgi-bin/ultima...=9;t=010605;p=4 So be careful over there. I already brought it up to a moderator over there. [ 15. Hey anybody have links to good sites with video footage of SAC in-action STS. Like those propaganda films? I am doing a "multi-media" presentation. Also any links to footage of aircraft that were used in the cold war (yes tankers to) any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone, I'm currently seeking to complete my PPL and was wondering if any of you hopefuls on here could point me towards the best loan I can get say like $10,000 and which bank provides the best deal. I hope to go instrument after that so the $10000 will help a lot. Thanks for your input.

For all you 21 guys, quick question... I'm interested in flying the C-21, and the only dudes I've ever talked to that flew it all flew 130's afterwards. Is that the typical follow-on? Or are there other options? Do you have much say in that to begin with? Thanks for the help

There has been a lot of up and down talk but I think its going to happen any day now: 2AS here at no hope is going to cut the squad 50/50 airdrop and airland only...50% would loose their airdrop qual once their currencies run out. My guess is the 41st will do the same once they're back. Just an FYI. Hey how's Dyess doing?? Has anybody seen any air force time articles on deployment rates lately? I remember seeing things in there a lot about who was deployed the most and haven't seen anything like that in a while. Maybe they don't want to show that its the good ole Herk doing a lot of the work now a days...who would want those mission hackers to get some credit?? …

I just wanted to let anyone who cares know, I finally got my PRK waiver after 6+ years of fighting including 3 visits to Brooks (after I got my pilot slot) 6 months as a HQ staff exec 5 months as a staff weenie  and extensive sweating and praying. Now the real work begins! For those who are still fighting, never give up. I had 2 waivers approved and pulled. I had orders to Laughlin 3 times. I had 4 waivers disapproved. I applied to the AD UPT board 4 times before I was selected. I PCSed 4 times in the last 10 months (including 2 in San Antonio). I Took the AFOQT and BAT twice. I went into debit to build my piddly 163 hours, and so on. For all tho…

I'm wondering if there are any other sites out there that are somewhat like this one, except that they may not be dedicated solely to flying in the AF. I've already been to www.airforceots.com so I know that's out there, but is there anything else? It just doesn't seem like that site gets enough traffic to use more than once a week or so. I'd really appreciate any links you've got.

Just to keep everyone abreast on these topics, the following story and pics on the Eurofighter/Typhoon in the US are making the rounds in the UK mil aviation forums I frequent. By the way, I just noticed the title of that article and the article itself conflict, but I think the title was in error, it should have read 'Eurofighter Radars Spot F/A-22s'... The answers are obvious, but the discussion is quite interesting! Just some food for thought here... Cheers! M2 [ 04. October 2005, 09:19: Message edited by: MajorMadMax ]

Hi folks - So, this might sound a bit strange, but my recruiter *really* wants me to apply into the Bioenvironmental Engineering (BEE) program in the AF in addition to OTS (for pilot). I have a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering and he said my background doesn't matter - bioenvironmental vs electrical. I've search here and on Google, but can't seem to find anything on the BEE program except that you get commissioned as a Captain and have 4 weeks of initial training instead of 12 in the OTS. The big question that I cannot find the answer to is - if I sign up for BEE, will I then be able to apply for UPT once I'm already in the AF? Or said another way…

From af.mil: EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. (AFPN) -- A distinguished career came to a close here Feb. 10. After flying senior military leaders and undergoing rigorous testing for more than 31 years, the Speckled Trout tail number 61-2669 officially retired. "Speckled Trout was the primary transport aircraft for every Air Force chief of staff since General David C. Jones (July 1974 to June 1978)," said Gen. Bruce Carlson, Air Force Materiel Command commander. "Not only has it transported distinguished people ... there are countless examples of technological advantages that our warfighters have reaped as benefits from the work that has been done on this great airpl…

So the guidance on the AFPC website makes it sound like they want a T-ODP for all officers. I've only been at my duty station for about three or four months so I've got a couple years until a PCS even becomes a question. Anybody know if I should fill out the T-ODP (which would basically express my desire to stay right where I am) or just wait until I start coming up on 24 months on station?
