Does anyone know if you can access GDSS from a non-.mil computer? I had heard that you can but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Thanks.

Ok here's the short story - we've been together for quite some time (couple of years) and have put off the marriage thing until we were both through with training. Problem is, I got T-1s then C-17s thinking her chances would be pretty good to go T-1s. The way the drop worked, she ended up with T-44s. If we're married when she graduates, is it possible they will trade for or drop her a -17 out of Corpus or is this most likely going to be something she can't change until years down the road hoping to cross-train? What can we do?

From the searching I've done on this forum, I've noticed a trend. "Good family life" tends to be associated with the KC10, and "gone all the time" seems to be associated with the C17. Can anybody confirm or deny this observation? Thanks in advance.

Anyone have the reg numbers that state the amount of crew rest needed for non-flying activities such as days with academics and simulator training? I know it is 12 hours for flying ops but what about the above listed? I feel like my scheduler is screwing us but I don't recall the rest required and can't find it written anywhere. Thanks

I'm on my way to Little Rock in about 3 weeks to do phase 1 & 2. After that I've got to go to Kirtland probably enroute for D-M. Anyone been through the 130 course at Kirtland lately? Know any of the specifics like where they'll stick me and how often they start a class? I know they have a BOQ, and a TLF (which is one of the nicer ones I've seen- little houses instead of big hotel rooms). Will they pay me full perdiem? One of the biggest questions is how will they work the spouse thing for an enroute. Will she get some sort of perdiem, or am I better off sending her home to mom and collecting FSA? We're already working the rent thing- She's moving ba…

There has been a lot of up and down talk but I think its going to happen any day now: 2AS here at no hope is going to cut the squad 50/50 airdrop and airland only...50% would loose their airdrop qual once their currencies run out. My guess is the 41st will do the same once they're back. Just an FYI. Hey how's Dyess doing?? Has anybody seen any air force time articles on deployment rates lately? I remember seeing things in there a lot about who was deployed the most and haven't seen anything like that in a while. Maybe they don't want to show that its the good ole Herk doing a lot of the work now a days...who would want those mission hackers to get some credit?? …

Im sure that this is a common topic but I need some advice. First off I should have my degree and pilots license by the end of summer. I have been an aircraft mechanic for 7 years active duty and about 2 years as a full time reservist (ART) with the KC-10's at McGuire AFB New Jersey. I work along side the reserve pilots but I really don't know any closely. My question is how do I go about letting them know that I am interested in a pilot slot in the reserves. Who should I talk to? Should I just go talk to them one day, or is it supposed to be a more formal meeting? Im trying to get this rolling but I still feel a little clueless about how the whole process works. Than…

I just got a magazine from Lockheed called "Code One." I highly suggest it to anyone who can get their hands on it. The photos are some of the most spectacular pictures I've ever seen of airplanes. Anyways, here's the site Code One

Just an FYI, Pope took 4 Herks to the boneyard a weekish ago. Our 70s AWADS birds are being replaced by 64 Guard Dumb birds and AWADS is now out of our DOC statement. Birds did their job, couldn't ask for anything more but damm we need some new blood and I'm not talking guard planes from the early 60s that just have less hours. Some retired general who went with the J vs new H3s in the 90s should have his pension revoked...and I think we really need term limits for congressmen so they are less worried about being reelected and more worried about what is right. But I'll take a good decision now vs a perfect one tmrw, any more rumors on the J??

What happens if a pilot flying an airframe "sans" bathroom is on a long mission, can't land, and HAS to go? Do they wear a bag or something?

I was reading an AFA magazine a couple months back and I saw a picture of a B-52 pilot attached to an Army unit acting as a forward air contoller. Is this a volunteer only assignment? What are other requirements?

Anyone know a good site I can get Microsoft Word templates for Official AF Documents like a Memo, Minutes, any stuff of that nature. This message is for future reference, I tried to find one this morning for an assignment. Thanks in advance

I searched for this topic but didn't find much info. Getting ready to graduate and I heard that you can get your instrument and commercial ratings by taking a written test. Is this true? How much extra work would it be to get the CFI rating? I know I probably won't use any of them much in the military, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to have them...

Does anyone have a good list of MARS frequencies?. Basically they are a civilian outfit sponsored by Sprint and they will give you phone patches to DSN or even long distance commercial numbers. It's great to call the wife flying over the Pacific. I have used it before and it works way better than triyng to wake the sleeping AF HF Freq's (In the FIH)that are a pain in the A#$.

I'm in my last semester of college and I'm taking this class called The Economics of Decision-Making and Strategy. Basically, it says relates every decision we make to some sort of "game strategy". Basically, models for the most efficent way for people to react in situations. Anyways, like 80% of our grade is a paper due at the end of the semester. I'm writing mine on Air Combat, or dog fighting. I've looked around for some websites with info on tactics and stuff like that, but can't find much. I was wondering if any of y'all either knew of some good websites with info like that had some good info for me to use. Any help would be greatly appreciated, cause failing…

Okay my question might be rather dumb. My husband hasn't left for AMS yet, so I know nothing about how this works. I had a friend who went to the Airforce Academy. He graduated last year and I have lost contact with him. I want to try to get ahold of him, and I was wondering if there is anyway I could find his military email address. Any suggestions, or is this impossible? Thanks for the help.

Ok, so I decided to go after my dream and not think about money or anything like that. I am so excited to be an AF pilot, but what can pilots expect financially? I know about the pay charts and flight pay, but what can you count on making? If you stay in for 10 years where can you be financially? (Assuming that you are responsible and invest.) For 20 years and beyond where can you be? I've heard of officers investing well and retiring completely after 20 years with 1 million+ in the bank and a nice house. What's your take on all of that? Is flying for the airlines after you are done whether it's 10 or 20 years a good way to go? I don't care about being a huge …

So, I return from my 4-ship to the range today and read on my email that the AETC/CC has authorized the GWOT-S medal for *everyone in AETC* regardless if they have or have not directly participated in the Global War On Terror. WTF??? That is a slap in the face to those of us who have spent hours and hours flying CAPs for Operation NOBLE EAGLE. As if it wasn't bad enough that the GWOT-S was the only recognition ONE flyers are going to get...now it's pretty much just being given to *everyone*.

Reading some interesting C-model pubs and it mentions that training in the 300-100 foot AGL range should be in short segments consistent with real world risks, etc. How often do albinos do that stuff? How often do you other fighter guys really get down in the weeds, like below 500 AGL??
