Is there a way to look up who is currently a 4 star general in the air force? I was waiting for my family at lunch yesterday when a 4 star walked by me. I didn't have a chance to talk to him and was looking for info on him. Thanks

I'm trying to find someone with experience as a shooter and rated aircrew. I am reaching a major crossroads and am looking for all the advice I can get. Here's what I'd like to know from anyone willing to offer: Whether you went from SOF to pilot/nav or vice versa (rare, I know), are you happy with the choice you made and would you make the same decision again? Also, from your experience would you recommend one more than the other? Thank you in advance for your responses. So everyone has some idea who they're responding to...I'm 25 and grew up in a family of shooters (PJ, SEAL). I know, although only second-hand, the pluses and minuses of life in the SOF world. B…

https://www.af.mil/news/story.asp?storyID=123011984 This is the first chain of command of this position since I've commissioned. Anyone care to discuss if they ever saw any significant changes after the position changed from one person to another in the past? I know that he is the President's top military advisor, and commands no troops, but I was wondering if things could change a whole lot, and if so, how quickly they could take effect. Just some food for thought (Better than flaming each other and listening to the trolls from the "other" side b*tch & moan about their forum closing) [ 01. Just wondering if anyone's ever run into rude enlisted personnel...I'm a new LT doing casual with a fighter squadron. I'm doing scheduling and many other misc duties like making sure things are setup for fini flights and retirements. So here's my story: I was trying to sort everything for this guy's fini flight in the Viper who is retiring. His family was waiting for him to land. I asked the TSgt at the ops desk to call and get them permission to go on the flight line with cameras. He says, "How many." I said 4 cameras. The, with glaring eyes, he says "How many people." So I told him 12. He'd given me a sticky note to write down the escort for them and how man…

Anybody know of another way to check NOTAMS besides DINS (notams.jcs.mil)? I've got my T-1 Nav check tomorrow and DINS has been down since yesterday. Thanks in advance.

Could someone please write something interesting on this topic? Anything. I'd really like to learn something. Just please don't write anything about flightsuits, hats, or ROTC, and try not to turn it into a pissing match. Or you could also write about how important the FE is...(just beginning to realize that myself) Not a Herk guy? Feel free to write something cool about your airframe. Thanks! I met someone on the net and during a conversation about his eyesight problems, he told me this: This is supposedly back in 1996. Any truth to this?

Big picture, what are the physical differences between these two? I understand that the HC-130P and MC-130P both do helicopter refueling, but are the only major differences between the actual aircraft the MC's AR (receiver) capability? Other questions: -Any big differences in countermeasures? -Does the MC-P do CSAR at all? -What about infil/exfil? -Can any HC guys give me an idea of what to expect in the ops world (I'm headed to the 79th)? -Finally, what are the big differences in the syllabi for each aircraft Kirtland? I know, lots of questions so thanks for any help - I was search function complete prior to posting.

Does anyone know what the latest change to the T-34 NATOPS manual is? I'm headed to VT-3 in a week (from API) and want to know if I need to add/delete/change anything on my flashcards. I have all changes up to Change 39 (Change 39!!! I guess they've never heard of a T.O. revision in the Navy). Also, anyone at VT-3 know how long the wait is after ground school? Our API class has been hearing a ton of rumors (varying from 4 up to 10 week wait rumors), but nothing 100% confirmed. Thanks for the help. [ 24. September 2005, 11:10: Message edited by: gabe2surf ]

I'd like to take my motorcycle with me to UPT. That, or even buy a new one down there. However, will I have anyway to get her under roof? I also don't want a new motorcycle just to see it get trashed by the elements. Suggestions on the matter? Do I leave my bike at home?

Okay. I've hit this problem from just about every angle I can think of but have yet to come up with a solution. I leave for Randolph (UNT) very soon. Because of my son's heart condition, he needs to stay near his surgeons back home. On top of that, my wife has a great job and my daughter is in a school program that you have to be accepted to and will have to re-apply if she leaves (lottery). Needless to say, they have to stay home. Here's the dilemma: Base pay - taxes + BAH (waived for dependent location) + BAS = Civilian Pay (almost to the penny). Since I have to accept BAH to maintain my household back home, I cannot live on base. To live off base will …

I'm going to be doing supt with the Air Force very soon, and as I'm not in the AF, I have a question that I hope ya'll could answer. I was issued my HGU-68 TACAIR helmet the other day, solid dark green overall, yada yada yada. The question I have is when non-Air Force types do supt with you all, do your PR's put white reflective tape on them for us, or will we typically go without until advanced? The reason I ask is because I know the AF doesn't use reflective tape, and the primary VT's for the Navy tape them up for everyone else the first week or so of Primary, hence my question. What has everyone here seen? Thanks in advance.

It is interestind that today is the 4th anniversary of 9-11, there is the small mater of cleaning up after Katrina, and let us not forget we are still at war, yet the only thing being discussed are hats, bags and tools. Are these really the most important things on your minds? If so, it is time for a reality check. How about a thread with some depth?

that my tour in this mighty sexy, b1tch they call a LEAR has been extended until July 2007 (at ETAR) - total of 54 months. A little Wurstmarkt (Bad Durkeim) this weekend for some celebration... [ 11. September 2005, 05:41: Message edited by: C-21 Pilot ]

I started sport skydiving a couple of years ago after completing Freefall at USAFA. I know you can jump on active duty if you watch a hazardous activities brief or somethings like that, but does anyone know if it's allowed during UPT? Preciate it.

I think that I remember hearing that the speed for the overhead break is around 350 knots, but do fighter guys ever go above this speed "for fun?" On airwarriors, they talk about how they usually do a minimum of 500 knots, but maybe that's because they're at the boat. Just curious...

Since I am not getting the money for college that I was supposed to get, I am considering enlisting in the Air Force for 4 years, get out, use my GI Bill, go to college, and then come back as an officer. The only AF jobs that are available to me, and the ones that I'm interested in, are (2T0X1) Traffic Management, (2T2X1) Air Transportation, and (4Y0X1) Dental Assistant. I was wondering if anyone in-the-know here can fill me in on these positions, maybe give some pros and cons. Also, is it worth keeping my car if I enlist or should I sell it? I know I probably won't need it if I get deployed, but then again I don't know if I'll be deploying whole lot with either of these …

I've been looking on the net for a frame for my commissioning certificate. I wan't something simple with a mat and an Air Force seal, nothing extravagant, to hang next to my diploma in the home office. I've found lots of things in the 8x10 and 11x14 sizes, but nothing for the odd shape (10x14) of the commissioning certificate. Just wondering what any of you guys did with yours (I'm guessing that a lot of you guys have them in stuffed in a drawer somewhere) and if you know anybody that makes a frame specifically for the commissioning certificate. I seem to remember getting a pamphlet when I graduated OTS that had similar products, but I can't remember the name of the c…
