I'll be starting AFROTC fall of next year (as a sophmore). I was wondering what the chances of getting an airborne slot for the summer while in AFROTC? Are they still doing this?

OK so I work my a$$ off this semester in AFROTC. Complete Arnold Air training. Seriously, I worked like crazy!!! AND THEN! I get this email below:... "You are being dropped from our program due to receiving a “D“ in AS200 class. According to AFROTCI 36-2011, the regulation states that “cadets must receive a “C-“ or better in AS classes and LLAB. When the cadet receives a grade of “D” or “F” in AS class, the cadet must be dismissed from the program (non-contract cadets).” I am NOT getting kicked out. I have no idea what to do. I had a B in the class before the final. The only reason I failed is because I got no sleep before the final and failed it. Anyone know what o…

There is this rumor going around in ROTC land that once your AD, the only thing that is looked at from your ROTC days, as far as OPRs and stuff like that, is whether or not you graduated as a DG from your detachment. Is there any truth to this, or is it a fairy tale?

Hi All, What does everyone know about the delayed entry program and categorization? Is it possible to categorized and then delay your entry for graduate school? Or must you re-categorize for the year you will be entering your school i.e. flight school? thanks for any info in advance!!!

My room mate was drinking and got written up. Because it was my room as well, as well as the fact I was there, I got written up too. What can happen because of this?

I have just joined ROTC on the two year program. I basically have less than a year before I apply to UPT... So the big question is...what spefic things should I concentrate on doing to "impress" my commander (I know how important that commander's rating is) All former and current ROTC cadets, please advise!!! I hope to enroll in the AFROTC program in the fall of 2010, im at the end of my Junior of High School. I was just wondering what the typical class size of incoming freshman who are enrolling in ROTC. I know it depends on a lot of variables, but are there any estimates? Ranges? If it is a smaller class size does that increase my chances for a pilot slot because I have less competition?

I'm graduating next year in '10, and I plan on attending college and participating in AFROTC; however, I'm not sure what to major. Nothing in sciences or engineering though, not for me. Can anyone suggest anything?

Hi First I have to present my flame-insurance.. Is it possible to be active in AFROTC (pilot slot is my goal) and work at the same time? I don't want to be the cadet that is never around but I need to work so I can support myself. Thanks

So, I just got an email from our Det CC saying that a SERE CBT is coming out in the next couple of weeks or so. Anybody else get this? I've been through actual SERE school and I just can't see how effective a CBT is going to be for it (are they effective for anything??). Is this the mandatory SERE training the CSAF spoke of recently?

So what's the deal with who can commission you? Has to be an ACTIVE duty officer? Or can they be a retired officer? Any branch? If they are retired, should they be in uniform or anything?

Hey guys! I have some questions and be prepared because some are probably dumb. Once you graduate from college with a bachelor degree (and lets say you participated in AFROTC) where do you go from there in the process of becomming an AF pilot? I have an idea but not exactly sure so I just wanted to clear some things up. Also how do you get from there to getting into UPT?

I'm not sure what the deal is with Form 16s. They go on your permanent record, but do they play an important role when it's time to fill out your dream sheet? My situation is as follows: Apparently someone on a certain firearms-enthusiast message board decided to play a little joke on me and sent an email to my Det Commander, claiming that I publicly stated that I derive amusement from intimidating innocent civilians by brandishing firearms at them, when in actuality my original thread was about me buying a shotgun via private transfer, and it didn't come with a case so I had to open-carry it to my apartment, to which the two guests that my roommates invited over freak…

I was wondering if the UPT selection board looks down on you if you transfer schools after your first year in college? I went to ERAU were i was on honor roll all year, but didnt like the flight program. Im now down at asu east still doing a flight major. Will this look bad on my application? Hey guys, this is my first post. I'm a senior in high school going to college next year. I've got my ppl and i'm working on instrument and glider ratings and i have about 70-80 hours (total not pic), and I want to be a pilot in the air force. I called the afrotc detachment by where i'm going to college and they told me to call in and do an interview during the summer. I'm going to but I was wondering if I should get my hair into AF standards before I go, it's kind of long but i've been progressively cutting it. Also the pilot selection process is really competitive from what i've read, and how do you not get psyched out about it and feel nervous all the time that you…

When and how many times is the PFT given to cadets? Once a year or something? And if you need to improve on the running will ROTC help that to get the 6:36 mile or will it just keep you in shape? Thanks

I'm currently an AS200 and plan on staying as a 700 because some extra classes would require me to stay in college for another year. My GPA has also taken a big hit this semester as well. I was wondering if people who stay a year long are categorized and given their assignments with the FY11 people or FY10?

Any word on non rated categorization, Any idea when our cadets will get thier jobs? I know a few non rated categorized cadets who surf this board. Hawg

I'm just curious how many of you guys commissioning here shortly are prior service, and what you thought of ROTC. I've done 5 years Active Army and am going back into AFROTC (I did one year, way back when). When I hear of kids saying ROTC was basically gay or worthless I cannot help but be stoked to go back! hah I say kids, I'm only 23 but two years deployed kind of changes you perspectives.

Does anyone know when our AFROTC stipends will end if we are commissioning? For example, I am commissionig 5 May, will I still get the stipend 1 May or will my last one be 14 Apr?

I understand how the OM works for categorization, but does the commander directly recommend an AFSC (other than through UCR)? For rated and nonrated? I know that cadets compete for pilot slots nationally. Is this true for non-rated AFSCs as well? Or are commanders encouraged to fill hard to fill jobs? For instance, two cadets with equal GPA, one a history major and the other an electrical engineer. Would the commander have any reason to recommend (or give a lower UCR to) the engineer for an engineering job rather than a pilot slot because EE is a critical shortage?

I had a question about parking tickets. I just got parking ticket #4 in 1 1/2 years in the program. I also had a speeding ticket a couple weeks ago. Do you think I have excessive civil involvements? Am I in any danger of losing my enrollment allocation?
