  1. You can also carry leave over to AFRC(at least for palace front/chase). The problem would be finding a set of 30+ day orders in the future to use/attach them to, but if you promote later on you can sell it back for more money.... Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk
  2. Too bad we import half of our uranium from Russia.... Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk
  3. They hacked one pipeline company and managed a gas shortage on the entire east coast... Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk
  4. Sounds like you already know where you are going, but you can get 7 days PTDY for interviews in the ARC.
  5. They found the only thing worse than putting a navigator in charge of things, a total shoe clerk. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
  6. Put shows/movies from laptop onto a thumb drive, then put the thumb drive into the smart TV USB port. Panasonic Viera player works with most file types.
  7. I believe the reserves were getting an outsized portion of the asspain, but a stink has been made and the ANG can expect some more to follow. Gen Jackson has stated that they are pursuing an option to staff it with contractors, but it sounds like bunk to me. Nobody in ARC is safe and the timeline I was briefed on had this program going out to 2020. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
  8. At my AFRC 130 unit, the OG developed guidelines on how to dole out the pain. They made a spreadsheet of the instructors (which was not made available to the squadron at large) with a timeline going back over a decade and listed all the deployments the member had done, both in and out of the unit. Some kind of partial credit was given if they were in a formal school during the unit's deployment. When the requirement dropped, they went in order of who had gone the least with exemptions for members in dwell, the CC/DO, and maybe a few others. When given the tasking, you could accept, retire, or go IRR/IMA. Management was not willing to sign a 1288 to allow transfer to another unit, and the subtext was that you wouldn't be welcomed back by the current administration if you went IRR/IMA. This bullshit made up 69% of the water cooler talk at the unit for the past year. Seems like most units went through 3-5 bodies to get a taker. Anyone in ARC who had anything to do with signing on to this hogshit needs to get dick/ punched.
  9. I'd have signed a 13/15/20 year ADSC as a cadet, and I hate the AF. I probably would have even been excited about it: guaranteed retirement!
  10. Haven't seen 1 year non-vols, but this year -130 reserve units have been getting 6 month deployments to AFG to be advisors. With the spin-up training and accrued leave, it is more like 9 months. No thanks.
  11. I saw the crazy O-6 astronaut lady at KNGP 3.5 years after her cross-country diaper-wearing affair, still on the payroll for Uncle Sam. I guess the wheels turn slowly sometimes.
  12. Does TriCare cover this for home use?
  13. Same experience for me. I was assured by AD and ARC that any medical issues would be covered after the fact while I was waiting to be gained in DEERS for a week or so, but I left AD without anything proving I had tricare/TAMP.
  14. Enid and Honolulu tie? What editor had this slid across his desk and said, "Sounds good to me."?
  15. Irrelevant, you should have checked in "Unable." Eff HQ.
  16. Olevelo, since you've been to test pilot school, wouldn't you get enough pilot experience to just tell yourself to "STFU, Nav?" It's like a crazy circular reference.
  17. HOT TASKERs!!!!!! Managers like this And this Big Blue was a great place to start out earning a good living while doing some cool flying, but the scale tipped in favor of bullshit somewhere along the way. I am loving life as a part timer. That said, the AF is as it was and always will be. It'll survive this "gutting" just fine, just like it did after the Gulf War and the 2006 VSP.
  18. If you like the leadership at LRAFB, you will love this. Musta been a slow week in tactical airlifting. http://www.littlerock.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123401734
  19. And free pizza on Fridays and no more homework.
  20. The problem is that the AF already has the institutional memory of the "practice bleeding" debacle. Gen Jumper was before my time, but issuing the practice bleeding memo and laying it on the line for Schwalier give him a lot of cred in my book. I'd wager the average crew dog was fired up about him back then. Without overhauling the system and setting the example by crushing a wing king or two that don't take the message to heart about forgetting about masters degrees, nothing will ever change. In a 4 yr tenure as CSAF, I'd bet it could be done with enough horsepower. Laying the groundwork sounds like bullshit. None of this is to say everything is ed. The AF will go on just fine, but these things could be made better on his watch.
