Enter your DODID# (on the back of your CAC) as the "Known Traveler Number" when booking in DTS or civilian travel systems. Spouse or other travelers would need to process through standard security or apply for Pre-Check as a normal citizen ($85 application fee). Program begins 20 December 2013. Homestar
I went through TSA pre-check on Sunday at DCA with my CAC. First time in a long time that I haven't taken off my shoes and jacket at the TSA screening. Good to know about the traveler number.
sky_king
If you have kids, just put them in a stroller. You qualify to go through the wheelchair/stroller line which usually only has a handful of people. Plus, the stroller can be gate checked for free regardless of number of carryon items. Techsan
I've used the TSA precheck a few times over the last year...felt great to not have to take off your shoes or jacket. I have though had to have my hands swabbed each time, but that's no biggie

TheGuardGuy
Put in my ID # in DTS, boarding pass had the pre-check logo. Makes life easier.
Apollo
I got rejected at LIT after not inputting my ID during reservations. The TSA dude pushed me away since my boarding pass didn't have the pre-check logo. This was after the TSA in Reagan said all I need to do was flash my mil ID at security to get pre-check. Just a heads up, TSA doesn't have it all together yet; you should put your DOD info in during ticket ordering. Good luck!
JS
I think the program at Reagan was the old program where you just flashed your ID to get it to work. There were only about 10 or so airports that had the little machine at security where they could verify your status on the spot. This new system is basically every major airport in the US, but it only works, from what I understand, if you enter your ID number in your reservation ahead of time. This way, I presume, the airlines can run your ID number through "the computer" before your reservation and verify that you are still in the military. Two different programs. TreeA10
The TSA had been wildly erratic regarding flight crews until the advent of the Known Crew Member program. The DoD program is a long needed one but might take a little while to dampen out the TSA induced stupidity.
jazzdude
That's funny because the TSA website specifically says you don't have to be in uniform or on official travel
SocialD
You can't expect the TSA to know their own rules can you?!?! Just like when they try to tell me I can't carry on my LPU, the look on their faces when you tell them that you can and to look it up in THEIR reg, is priceless. Usually they just give in and let you through.
discus
Was turned away at ABQ IN uniform. As previously said put the number in when booking tickets and there will be no problems.
Gravedigger
Got turned away in FLL this morning. Not only did I have my CAC, I had my Global Entry card, both of which mean I don't need shit on my boarding pass. I tried to explain that to the pissed off Mexican-American woman working the line by pointing to the TSA Pre-Check and Global Entry sign hanging above her head. She has been trained that you must have the pre-check on your boarding pass, period, no matter what the rules actually are.
Techsan
Is the pre check on your boarding pass possible if you're using a mobile boarding pass?
El Guapo
Pre-check will show up on a mobile boarding pass or app boarding pass. It needs to be on the boarding pass, don't bother trying to just flash your CAC card or global entry ID.
ASUPilot
I just tried at OMA and was told this only works if you are wearing your uniform. That is some support! It worked fine for me yesterday in civilian clothes at OMA. TSA standardization, right?
Homestar
I put my DoD ID number into DTS as suggested earlier in this thread and booked travel from DCA to DFW and back. Traveled last week and used DCA pre-check lanes and got to keep my jacket, belt, and shoes on. Liquids (3-1-1) can stay in the travel on, as well as laptops. Easy peasy. Got the pre-check logo on the boarding pass at DFW and the TSA made me take off my jacket (boo!). The watchful eye of the x-ray machine guy caught my half drunk V-8 that I forgot was in my carry on and chastised me appropriately.
discus
Dumb Q, but where in DTS are ya'll putting your ID #? Is it the "known traveler number?" Yes.

Cap-10
I had already made a reservation prior to the implementation date...called Delta after the fact and added the CAC/Known Traveler # and on check in day, me and the two kiddo's had the pre-check logo on the boarding passes. CINCHOUSE does not have the pre-check logo, but at BOS, TSA allowed her to accompany us into the pre-check line after verifying that she had her dependent ID Card. At ATL, they only allowed me and kiddo's thru pre-check....wifey had to wait with the commoners! Cap-
Gravedigger
At ATL, they only allowed me and kiddo's thru pre-check....wifey had to wait with the commoners! Fucking peasants and their shoe and jacket removal. Just went through DCA and ATL with my CAC and nothing on my boarding pass and had no issues. So, in the most obvious news ever, TSA isn't implementing this in a standardized way around the country.
RTB
Strangely, on my last family flight a few weeks ago, only my 4 year old had "TSA PreCheck" on her boarding pass. None of the rest of us did. Flawless system.
