September 21, 201312 yr Why don't they start with making leadership stop distributing info via white board and see if that improves anything before they murder an hour of the duty day playing kindergarten.
September 21, 201312 yr The mayors lost control, the mayors lost control......oh wait, not that kind of roll call
September 22, 201312 yr Right? That's what we're going for here? https://www.airforcet...-Roll-call-back Some units, such as maintenance shops, already have a regular roll call to take their troops’ pulse, spread the word on new plans or requirements, and make sure they are understood.
September 22, 201312 yr Right? That's what we're going for here? https://www.airforcet...-Roll-call-back All kidding aside, this is exactly what we've been going for on here. The Air Force (read; Gen Welsh) is essentially trying to end "leadership by e-mail" by forcing their supervisors to (GASP) actually TALK to their people face to face. Hope it helps.
September 22, 201312 yr This is exactly what our young airmen need....more micro-managing from 1Lt McDouche reminding them to do their TFAT/CBT and to make sure everyone understands what color socks to wear to PT and then asking them how they feel about it. Emailing tedious BS is better than face to face and wastes far less time, less painful etc.

September 25, 201312 yr Maybe the Lt needs some mentoring on what's important then. So that's the reason the CGOC president has a table at the Wg staff meetings.
September 27, 201312 yr The best part about supervisors personally delivering tedious BS is the instantaneous collective verbal and non-verbal feedback that they don't get via email. Lt McDouche is more likely to carefully consider his brilliant new policy if he is implement it standing in front of his unit rather than hiding behind his computer. That's part of leadership... Roll calls don't have to be a queep distro session. It's an (additional) opportunity for a leader to interact face-to-face with his people...if he's smart, the communication goes both directions. Once a week and/or once a month doesn't fucking cut it though. Friiquency depends on the character of the organiziation, but can be a (brief) daily affair in some organizations. Bottom line at the bottom (BLAB), it's one tool that can be used...but not in the way protrayed in that stupid fucking video.
September 27, 201312 yr if he's smart Have you seen the mouth breathers out there roaming around Big Blue? lol. Seems like there are more walkers than there are sharp people who 'get it', and that ratio gets a lot worse outside of the flying world.

I'm always looking to expand my inventory of insults.
September 27, 201312 yr Enlighten me. What is a "walker"? Is this short for daywalker? I'm always looking to expand my inventory of insults. "Walker" is the term they use for zombies on "The Walking Dead" TV show.
