StoleIt
I wandered through our BX and didn't see it on the shelves. :(

M2
Got it on kindle. And...
Marco
I'll let you know! Literally ordered it 20 minutes or so prior to posting. It starts with a lengthy disclaimer detailing that he made every effort to not reveal current TTP's, identities, or expose anything opsec related, etc. First chapter does start it off in a manner that makes you want to turn to the next page (or flick the screen, in my case). AZwildcat
In the news, some folks not too happy... https://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/09/04/pentagon-book-on-bin-laden-raid-includes-classified-information/
Marco
They must be pissed about the author revealing the existence of the Staff of Power.
M2
Got a copy of chapters 15 & 16 from a source I cannot disclose, obviously this is just a small portion (16 pages) of the overall book but in them is a very detailed description of the mission once the team got inside the house. The writing is very businesslike, no excessive bravado or chest-thumping as expected. Included were graphics of the three levels of the building. Now, is the information I read a disclosure of classified or sensitive information? Hard to say, but given the level of detail I would say so. No wonder the higher-up are pissed, and someone's ass is definitely going to end up in the fire for this one. But also based on what I've read it appears that it will be a good book and worth the money. Looks like I'll be downloading it on my Kindle this evening. Cheers! Marco
I'm on Chapter 7 and have enjoyed reading it thus far.
guineapigfury
Well, if we all get the mass email that says "no looking at classified stuff because you don't have the proper clearance/need to know, even though it's all over the internet" we'll know for sure. herkbum
Don't remember the chapter number, but I made it to the part where they report to NC to began prep for UBL mission. Good read so far and I agree with M2, not the chest thumping bravado I expected.
skinny
I wandered through our BX and didn't see it on the shelves. :( I have a feeling that your local Exchange won't be carrying this book any time soon. Just like they did with Four Loco and any halfway decent porn.
M2
Here's a brief excerpt to demonstrate the aforementioned writing style... As I said, not badly written and very detailed. Looks to be a hit! (pun intended). Cheers! M2
backseatdriver
I have a feeling that your local Exchange won't be carrying this book any time soon.... ForgotPassword
I've read the whole thing, I enjoyed most of it. Read it in a day so it is worth anyone's time. I'll echo the above having read it's entirety and say that it's very unlikely any classified was leaked in this book.
DirkDiggler
Read it today, was a pretty good read. Author seemed pretty humble and there were some pretty funny parts throughout.
Marco
Finished it. Liked it. Was impressed with the writing style and overall humility of the author.
Spur38
Very good read....don't know why the Pentagon got their panties in a wad, Owen (pseudonym) was very protective about the content, even to the extent of having a Special Ops Attorney review it. Worth the Kindle price!
nsplayr
....don't know why the Pentagon got their panties in a wad, Owen (pseudonym) was very protective about the content, even to the extent of having a Special Ops Attorney review it. Well as long as he had some guy of his own choosing look at it ahead of time...really? I can 100% see why the Pentagon, Adm. McRaven, Adm. Pybus, etc. are pissed because the book was written outside the bounds of the established way to write this type of book and reveals some pretty close-hold details of what happened, etc. Can't wait to read it though, it's next on my list and big picture, good on him for being one of the badasses who gave bin Laden a lead sandwich. Fuzz
OPSEC! Details! 4 stars Pissed! Haven't read it. So you are just speculating then?
nsplayr
So you are just speculating then? Excepts are widely available online as well as the statements of the leaders I mentioned. What I said is that I can clearly see why the Pentagon et. al. are pissed, not that there definitely was classified published or whatever other accusations are being thrown around. Frankly I hope not since I don't want our enemies getting any sensitive info and I don't want to see this badass guy thrown in jail.
tac airlifter
Have read most of it now. Entertaining, yes. But I'll hold to my original impression that this was a mega-douch move.
Champ Kind
I've read about 50 pages of it so far on a TDY and it has been great. I hope the colsultation he got before hitting print was thorough, because the brass seems to be pretty hard-up about this. Either way, always cool to get a glimpse through the looking glass and see what these amazing individuals do.
Azimuth
Just finished it, very well written and thankfully it didn't have flash back of BUD/S like most other books written by SEALs.
nsplayr
"The Brass are pretty hard-up about it" I think is an understatement. Apparently McRaven recently talked with some of the team guys who are still active duty to confirm the details of the raid were since the book contradicts the official story in some ways. Source.
