Its been days without input on the biggest topic on Baseops. Has the leadership improved dramatically since the Officer call, or did the lobotomys do the trick? It got really quiet really fast.

Anyone see all the signs at the cadillac nearest the Independence "DFAC" (that's the CC Chow Hall) threatening removal of the stalls if the "tagging" doesn't stop? Or the ones on the inside of the Cadillac doors that warn "To leave you must be wearing PTs with the shirt tucked in or ABUs with the blouse on."

I've heard before.

Schwartz raises the bar for commanders

By Bruce Rolfsen - Staff writer

Posted : Tuesday Nov 24, 2009 9:01:50 EST

Five wing commanders dismissed in less than a year — two in October alone.

The Air Force hasn’t cleaned house like this since the mid-1990s, and its top uniformed officer promises more firings if his commanders don’t perform up to snuff.

The heads started to roll last November, about three months after Gen. Norton Schwartz took over as chief of staff; all the commanders were colonels and all lost their jobs because of what the Air Force described as a “loss of confidence” in their performance.

Now if only we could get somebody to send Schwartz a link to this thread....

I think it's because we haven't had any new policies or exercises in a while. We're still wearing reflective belts with every uniform (although not indoors, and not in daylight...yet). We're still tucking in the PT gear, even while working out. We're still saluting in PT gear (although I haven't seen too many cases of people being REMFed for not saluting). We're still supposed to use spotters to back the cars out of their parking spots (but no one ever does). The Qatari ISP still blocks porn websites.

I guess there just isn't much new going on that hasn't been covered already.

In an interesting take on the Honor Code and the Core Values, Carlos Mencia will be performing here this week.

This follows last month's Services-sponsored Home Run Derby which was promoted with flyers featuring Barry Bonds.

Now there's some quality Air Force irony...

Which is still less jarring to me than having new PFT standards where they estimate 40% of USAF members will fail...and hosting a hot dog eating contest at the Deid. Way to promote fitness, EFSS!

Same ass-clownery as always out here. I guess it seems that the hyper-zealous enforcement of the gay belts has subsided a little, but I did see someone get thrown out of the gym the other day (not sure why, it didn't have to do with reflective belts, and surely it wasn't because his shirt wasn't tucked in. Maybe he was out of uniform in a subtle way that I did not notice).

During the Tiananmen Square incident here a few weeks ago, I asked a reliable higher-up (O-6) why the sudden violent crackdown on reflective belts that resulted in physical contact and people getting arrested. He said it was because they did a "survey" and found that there was a 40% non-compliance rate of wearing the reflective belts around the parking lot in front of the chow hall. I personally find it hard to believe, unless they are talking about civilians too. So I guess compliance is back up, and the REMF's have won another victory - until next time.

Bottom line, Baseops.net is not blocked, the commanders call was not about this website or reflective belts (it was about other criminal incidents that he felt should be highlighted to the entire wing officer corps), and it is the clown show as usual at the Deid.

Actually, saw (what I assume was) a squadron-leadership type checking reflective belts at the BPC chow hall today. And we're still signing up our own SQ/CC, DO, and senior ADO for similar duties on a rotating basis. I guess the NCOs felt they didn't have enough pull and we needed some O-5's to REMF people. At roll call, our mayor actually compared it to a certain SERE scenario...but the first rule of SERE is don't talk about SERE to the unitiated, so I'll let you guys piece it together.

What incident? Just wanting to be clear on what we're talking about...

Soooooo, we're all in agreement that we should PCS the REMFs to Happy Valley?
