  1. Saw an ad for this in the squadron. Said $250k... Man it'd be great to win the lottery... http://phantomwerks.com/index2.html
  2. Lived in Cambridge and yes, it was excellent. On the TV thing, you can order a PAL converter from Amazon. I think I paid around $100 for it, and it was full-up for HD/HDMI connections and worked as advertised. Have fun over there, travel often! Cheers
  3. It is true, at CAFB we took the first round of the new test, which wasn't graded b/c they don't have any numbers to compare it to. They used some "Olympic deadlift interpolation" to come up with your max rep. Fking retarded. I personally have never done a deadlift before, and know that a "shuttle run" does not correlate to my g-tolerance. Another case of missing the mark.
  4. Have you tried vipbox.tv? My tv crapped itself, and I found out you can watch hockey (and pretty much every other sport) on there. Go Blues!
  5. I know, it's all good. Fang is the shit, for a strike eagle guy. Not my sq either.
  6. A nickel on the grass... http://www.kboi2.com/news/local/Mtn-Home-Airmen-killed-in-F-15-crash-in-SW-Asia-144734305.html
  7. Is the first exposure to a vault for a UPT dude at IFF? Coming from the old Pensacola program, it was for me. But going to Randolph for IFF, we were able to get over into the Nav school vault as well. Just wondering. And if this is the case, why? (Nobody wants to be the ASM???)
  8. I agree the memo is bullshit, but how is it different from the one I had to write for the OTS WSO board, or the guys going for the ENJJPT board as well? It seems like this has been around a while, and I'm not sure what the use is. Agreed on the school house IP comment above. Be careful judging a community by who they send back to teach at basic Nav school. In my experience, the sharpest dudes in the community don't go back to P-cola to teach. Thats what Ops-to-Ops, the FTU, and WIC are for.
  9. Valid. But from my experience, the elbow pointing has gone by the wayside. Except for in the middle of a good game of crud. Of course it was the sim's fault...
  10. I know of one WSO to fail out of IFF, and one each in 3 consecutive classes to fail out of the B-Course (one in mine). A few others from Pensacola failed throughout the program, to include one in IFS... The old program did a pretty good job of setting you up for success. We had a "bluing" class at the end to tie things up with what to expect when we "went back to the AF" and what specifically would be different from Navy training. Military formal flying training courses aren't a joke, and some people just aren't cut out for it. That's just always the way it will be. Fly Tri: I did know of a few UPT washouts that were sent to Pensacola. With the new comprehensive Nav program, I don't see how they could ensure a Strike-Nav slot anymore. It sucks. Good words from Odium.
  11. The Big Green Egg. Amazing grill/smoker. My link
  12. Seeing how SJAFB is going to have 1-2 B-courses w/o a single WSO, it's about they dropped some assignments... PS- Don't forget, it's a Strike Eagle... I made that mistake once.
  13. I'm sure the "Cradle of Naval Aviation" sign is still there in Pensacola even though the Nav school is there. This bullshit needs to stop. We should get pencil patches that say "homeless" on them. Oh wait, they're saying we can't wear those either.
  14. Bitburger Rating: 9/10 Reason: It's only $3.69 for 4 pint cans at the shopette and it's delicious.
  15. Yeah. I distictly remember hearing about a curriculum meeting where the B-1 instructors were explaining how low-level navigation should be taught, and some RC-135 Nav's had a hissy-fit over how they thought it should be...
  16. The sad thing is, he's probably teaching the kids at P-Cola now... The new leadership down there would've loved a guy that hard up to be called a CSO when they were standing up the program down there.
  17. Why is the base being kept a secret?
  18. I focused between the two parts you have to track. Keep "ball" you have to track with the rudder in your peripheral, and let your hands and brain do the rest. I started trying to anticipate its direction change, but quickly realized that didn't work. It probably measures reaction time more than if you can keep it in the container. Good luck next time!
