Wow, such an opportunity for amusement, and instead this guy comes of as a whiny douchey toolbag. Now had he tried actually un-ass his chair and GO to finance like anyone trying to get paid would do, and they weren't there (a reasonable expectation) then a letter blasting them for being closed for training/SAPR/bullshit would clearly be in order. Instead, this guy comes off as a petulant little brat who didn't get his way. There are SO many ways to blast finance, and he blew it.

Not sure. I'm not even sure if VSP is what I was told to re-apply for. The issue is that AFTER they sent me my denial they distributed a new matrix that supposedly reflected all the VSP approvals. My YG/AFSC was still blue, so that's what got the BS flag in the air. I think it REALLY helps that I have a Sq/CC who is going to bat for me. One disgruntled Capt bitching about not getting what he wanted is quibbling, but a LtCol who stands to lose one of his people and is still willing to fight on my behalf I believe has allowed this door to open, even if it is nothing more than false hope.

My issue has been referred to the Air Staff. Fingers crossed for VSP above the zone!

I'll keep you guys posted. I understand the window is closed, but I resubmitted a VSP app via the same process as before. Not sure if that's what they were referring to when they said I could reapply, but the worst they're going to tell me is no (again).

Hope may not be lost! My AFSC/YG was still blue on the latest matrix, so I asked my CC to check up on it. Long story short, I was told to reapply. The waiting game begins anew!

The odd thing is the updated VOL matrix still has my YG/AFSC in blue, though the RIF matrix has it grayed out. I'm seeking clarification as to what that means. I'm really disappointed by the denial, but I'm going to keep trying to find ways out without burning bridges (i.e. failing PT tests).

When you get in touch let us know how it went, wish there was an appeal process! It's pretty telling when the AF has 30-40% cuts to make and they have to turn people away because they have too many volunteers.

This thread took me from very confident to very worried in the past 24 hours. I'm an '06 11R with JSTARS stink on me. I'm hoping that since I'm currently at the schoolhouse and not current in my PAFSC it improves my chances. There was an '05 11R RC-135 dude here who got approved last round. So far my SQ is 100% for 11Rs getting approved, but its a singular sample size. I've got my fingers crossed.

I don't need a flag to remind me that I'm American. Maybe it's because I grew up in ACC, but the flag patch just seems redundant. I will say I'm in the minority being that I'm in a T-1 squadron though.
