Nothing is free. We're going to trade obesity related problems for orthopedic injuries. Any I'm not against PT and being generally healthy; however, as was highlighted the inherent message of the FAC was insulting. Furthermore, something is bad wrong with our priorities when the PT test is one of the biggest career killer out there. I doubt causing a Class A mishap would do more damage to my career than failing a few PT tests.

True, but that is a slippery slope. Does this mean that each incoming CSAF needs to re-validate every single AFI out there? Is 11-202v3 null and void after a change of command until the incoming CSAF blesses it? I agree that it could have been worded more directly, but I also don't think that you should read THAT deeply into it. EDIT: I would have LOVED for this to be the case, and to have the PT reg slip through the cracks. I really wish Welsh would address the joke that is the AF PT program. Killing the FAC was a good first step, but this idiotic emphasis on PT needs to go away. (yes, I am a fatass).

I don't think they're buying enough tails for it to make sense to have a dedicated schoolhouse that's not collocated with an ops unit. My bet is McConnell. It's the hub of the KC-135, and it will probably be a KC-135 mafia for the KC-46 initial cadre.

You know, I think Welsh couldn't have done it better to show just how BAD of a policy Blues Monday was. If he had just come out and unilaterally said "no mas" for it, it could have been painted as his opinion vs Skeletor II's. Instead he set it up so each individual unit had the option of what to do, knowing full well that at every level of command the bad policy would be rejected. Well played indeed!

Woah-- LiPo batteries in a commercial jet? I can understand the concern. I use those things in my RC toys, and they're GREAT for low weight, high power applications, but they are very prone to fire if over charged or damaged. Not my helicopter, but I've got one like it. I've heard this same lesson repeated MANY, MANY, MANY times over, not just over safety privilege. If you think you may even MAYBE, POSSIBLY MIGHT be getting "looked at" about something that has happened, ask to be read your rights, and seek counsel. It's in our nature to try to "be helpful" but unfortunately I've seen several people both in the military and civilian world get burned badly by statements they made trying to be "helpful" without counsel present. Unfortunately in today's world, don't ever assume ANYONE has your back.

The SIB almost always occurs before the AIB. With this in mind, most guys are willing to disclose as much as necessary to the SIB in the interest of mishap prevention (I.E. the entire point of the SIB). How does this impact future SIBs if there is still any bit of doubt that what is said to an SIB in privileged will be disclosed to an AIB (or subsequent trial) if it is later determined that a crime has taken place? I've been fortunate to not have had to provide information to an SIB; however, I will certainly think twice if I think the information I provide in the name of mishap prevention is suddenly turned around to bury a bro whose luck didn't work out for him. I see no winners in this equation. Then again, when hasn't the Air Force NOT been engaged in (at best) a zero sum game?

I wonder if this had anything to do with them suddenly realizing that it wasn't compatible with their AR capabilities?
