Holding the right person accountable will require enough votes in November 2024. That said in all fairness I blame his predecessor for setting the wheels in motion.

The real tragedy is the espousal of women's rights by certain political entities here when so many women were left hanging quite possibly literally by their leadership.

Every POTUS and their administration shares the blame in our failed Afghanistan strategy. The NEO, and leaving Americans and Allies behind, happened under the current administration.

Prophetic words as the DNC appears to be doubling down on progressive extremism.  As Nancy slowly fades away (I doubt that will happen), the DNC has chosen their new leader in the house.  Lets take a look at the new DNC leader in the House.

He joined the Congressional Progressive Caucus and is one of their strongest supporters.  Jeffries was selected as one of the House Impeachment Managers for Democrats’ first effort to remove former President Trump.  In his closing argument before the Senate trial, Jeffries said that "acquitting Trump would be a death blow” to the Constitution."

In a recent interview with The Atlantic, he said that he approaches every issue “first and foremost with an understanding that systemic racism has been in the soil of America for over 400 years.” When fighting against Voter ID, Jeffries called for the Senate to “detonate the filibuster” and repeated the false and inflammatory claim that the rule is a “Jim Crow-era relic.” He has also said that Republicans are “part of a cult.”

Seems like a nice guy they picked...should heal the divide in no time.

The Republicans appear to be doing the same especially in the Senate, sticking with Mitch is dumb...his only challenger Rick Scott was another poor choice.  In the house McCarthy in not a great choice, he is not as caustic but I fear he will get distracted with too many investigation.  We certainly need three investigations, the Laptop, Origin of COVID and the weaponization of government agencies like the Dept of Justice and more specifically the FBI...let the other stuff go and try to work on some meaningful legislation.

I would love them to first and foremost investigate our abject failure that was the withdrawal from Afghanistan.

As a conservative, I 100% agree with Pooter. The quality GOP candidates handed ass. The low quality candidates lost embarrassingly. Quality matters, even McConnell said it, of all people.

The GOP is run by old people who appeal to…old people. It’s time for conservatives under 50 (hell I’ll take under 60), to take control of this shitshow (especially at local levels) and actually bring policies and plans to the people that they care about/want. There are millions of conservatives out there who I believe offer substantially better ideas than their Dem counterparts, but those individuals need to step up and lead - time for Grandpa and Grandma to step back and let those of us who don’t live in 1950 take a swing at the plate.

Sounds like a great opportunity for Ron DeSantis.  There was a Red Wave…in Florida.  Now granted the population is probably swayed by the retirees but a ton of young Latinos voted conservative as well.

I agree with your statement about two things being true at one time.  I'm just a little tired of hearing how everyone else had it so much worse because they were darker than me.  I know racism still exist as I've been callled racial slurs and have heard brown people remind me that "Hey white boy, you're in the wrong neighborhood".  I've also heard other whites say racially offensive things.  I'm 100% positive that we're the only race that does that (sarcasm).   But JFC we aren't living in the Confederate Sates of America last time I checked?  Finding a solution to helping people doesn't start with telling them it's not their fault.   My brother went through a lot as a kid.  I wish that he could have gotten help sooner but I'm not giving him a free pass.  He knew what he was doing.  The good thing about my brother is that he'll tell you himself that he was a fuck up.  As much as I despised him for what he put my parents through I still respect him for owning up to his wrong doings.

I want them (America's helpless) to know that they (politicians) are telling you it's not your fault to continue keeping you down.  They (politicians) don't really care about your struggle.  They care about you figuring out that you're not a victim.

“Hey White Boy, you’re in the wrong neighborhood”…thanks for pointing out the hypocrisy. But it doesn’t matter, this woke conversation only goes one way, we all know that. Which is fine, didn’t give a shit till it started to infect the military.

Systemic is the buzzword of the 2020s!   Systemic this and that.  My mom had a serious gambling problem.  Was that her fault or could she blame someone else?   Before you answer this, I must forewarn you that she is a pale face.   Also, my family is plagued with drug/alcohol abuse on both sides.  My brother did a lot of time behind bars.   Who do I get to blame for this?  I used to blame my brother for his actions.   Maybe it's not his fault?  Oh yes, I must be stupid.  He's a white guy so he needs to be accountable of his own actions without a scapegoat.

Not everything is someone else's fault.  Take accountability for your actions and quit blaming others for your mistakes.

I know some people have it harder than others (from personal experience) but quit finding excuses for them when they choose poorly (Indiana Jones).   It's not working.

    Really, the lottery is racist?

Edit: Systemic.   How long has President Biden been a part of the system?   What about Pelosi?  Dems shouldn't get a free pass.  Afterall, it's the system's fault and there are a whole lot of dems who have been part of that same system for quite some time.

Too much hypocrisy in our world. It gets old hearing about how hard everyone else has it.  I remember plenty of brown kids making fun of my Jordache (extra cheap) shoes in the 80s.  They seemed to have better shoes and clothes than me.

Dude it’s 2022, everything is Racist. Highways, elections, SATs, pilot training.…you’re even a racist just for posting this!

I spent some unwanted time at Eskan Village in Saudi.  Got to travel the country.  My opinion: overall shithole.  Arrogant incompetent assholes. Saw things I've never seen before: 18 wheelers laying sideways on the interstate with a billion coke cans strewn across all 8 lanes, dude driving 75mph with a camel in the back of a pickup truck, the Saudi sweep, etc.  Driving skills aside, interacting with them, they were arrogant assholes who sucked at whatever they did. I mean they are real assholes.  Going into the RSAF headquarters they treated you like you were laden with explosives, denied every overflight request going to OEF, denied an IFE 2 ship of dark grays to land in their territory, and generally treated me and everyone else that was not Saudi like shit.

I don't understand how/why we gave them a pass for 9/11.  It definitely wasn't for the oil.  They were scared shitless of us not buying their oil, every conversation about overflights or maintenance on F-15s or AWACs devolved into an oil discussion.  As an old head trying to clean up 9/11, why didn't we do anything about Saudi?  Wasn't the vast proportion of terrorist attacks on American soil traced back to Saudis?

You’ve clearly forgotten being hassled by Qatari Immigrant Agents at the Died 😉

But seriously all valid points. I never understood why we cow towed to the Saudis besides oil, and let their spoiled shitty pilot students waste our IPs time in UPT. My only other remaining theory is that we would need them (access, basing, overflight) if things ever kicked off with Iran?

Many of the people I know in these states were quite happy with the draconian measures. Let’s not forget a good chunk of the country is very content with and needs the security blanket provided by the big government, in more ways than one. These are the Karen’s that will scream at your child if their mask falls off their nose. These states get what they deserve - one of the reasons Florida has become so red is that New York ran most of the conservatives out of the state.

Biden won while losing all 3 of those states.

I stand corrected in my absolute, however Ohio and Florida, states that used to be purple are solidly red. The Dems have spent millions trying to “flip Texas blue,” and haven’t come close. That’s not great news for them.

    Very disappointing night for republicans.

the message is clear: trump is done. It’s desantis in 2024.

Wouldn’t say disappointing but not a red wave like many were predicting. Republicans will take the house, new Speaker will be a Republican.  Senate stays split.

Furthermore, Florida, Ohio and Texas remain solidly red, three states Democrats have targeted for years. No one is winning the presidency without one of those states. Also, Beto and Stacey lose again!

Now here’s to hoping Trump doesn’t come in with a wrecking ball and split the Republican Party which would surely cede the presidency to the left.

  12. 1 hour ago, Prozac said:

Uh huh. And any Democrat can come up with 69 reasons each why DeSantis, Scott, or Haley is “unelectable”. The constant barrage of “The other party will wither on the vine! Total victory will be ours soon! Republicans (or Democrats) forever! Yaaayyyy!” is dumb. Everyone on all sides needs to stop buying into it. Here’s a prediction for you: Republicans will take majorities in congress tomorrow. After a few years, people will realize Rs are screwing them just as bad as the Ds were and there’ll be a “blue wave”. Wash, rinse, repeat. The sooner we stop acting like nine year olds & figure our the other side isn’t going away & that this isn’t a zero sum game, the better off we’ll all be. Accepting that the other side has it’s own valid positions & figuring out where we can work together is our only option for not just success, but survival.

There are absolutely crazies in the R side and many of them are also screwing the American people. However, the fringe elements of the R side are not mainstream, their actions aren’t covered up by the mainstream media, and they constitute a minority of the party. On the D side, we are seeing the fringe philosophy become more mainstream and the media will blatantly hide it.

You know I would love to see more Rs try to work with the dems and meet common ground. However, that’s hard to do when you have someone like our sitting VPOTUS threatening to “go after” Trump supporters after the 2020 election, or Maxine Watters telling her supporters to find Trump supporters in restaurants and other public places and scream them out. While similar rhetoric exists on the other side, it’s not nearly as large in scope nor as threatening.

Whaaa? Dude, you’re overthinking things. If the party decides Biden is a liability, they will simply nominate someone else in ‘24. Hopefully they can convince him to simply bow out a’ la Johnson 1968. If not, the fight within the party will be interesting & likely hand the election to the Republican candidate. I think it’s pretty likely at this point he bows out, but a lot can change in 2 years and who knows what the political playing field will look like. If you’re thinking Joe leaves before 2024, I’d say that’s highly unlikely but if he does, Kamala takes the torch for a few months & the same thing happens: she is either talked into bowing out of the race, or the party gets in a fight nominating somebody else.

Ideally, for the country, I hope Joe decides to get out of the way sooner rather than later so the Dems can identify a viable candidate (Klobuchar? Buttigieg? Whitmer?) & run a coherent campaign. I also hope the Republicans can put forward someone other than Trump. I’d really like to vote FOR someone in 24 rather than against the worst of two bad options.

    When you say viable…

Mayor Pete took two months off of a cabinet position for baby leave when there was a supply chain crisis. A crisis well within his wheelhouse.

Governor Whitmer is so unpopular she almost got kidnapped during Covid due to her draconian Covid policies.

Amy? Already a swing and miss.

The Dems are screwed, plain and simple.  They have no one in the national spotlight that doesn’t come with serious baggage and skeletons. There’s Gavin Newsome but even most moderate dems are tired of California ruining the rest of the country.

We need a full blown debrief process for the response to this thing.

Clear errors by humans, which I understand. I've messed up more than I can count - but fess up to it; I'll respect you more even in a real world situation. That's been the most mind blowing thing - people refuse to take any responsibility.

Those responsible for destroying our economy, not to mention putting lives at risk (New York/nursing homes) because of overreaching COVID policies, should never be in a position where they can do this again. Unfortunately this largely has to be done in the voting booths.

I wish this would apply to the spineless commanders in the military all the way up to the SecDef but that will never happen. If you deployed to the Died or anywhere else during COVID you know what an epic shit show that was. Blatant malpractice from people who clearly should never be in a position of power.

This country is the last bastion of valuing freedom over collectivism and that consistently seems to dwindle away.

I also started in 1981 and can attest to this.  Chiefs then were Chiefs, and practically all wore Vietnam service ribbons amongst other awards.  It spoiled me as a young E-1.   I watched those "old school" chiefs disappear over the years as they retired and moved on, and in their place were mostly politically correct, tow-the-line SNCOs who were mirrored images of the officers.  Hell, most won't even cuss these days in fears of offending some airman!   What made the USAF great during those years was officers were officers, and Chiefs were Chiefs, and each complimented each other.  Now it's tough to tell the difference!

And just to pre-empt the expected replies, anyone who uses the term "boomer" will earn a 30-day suspension!  😁😁😁

Were these the Chiefs that would take roudy troops out back and “take care of them boss?” I’ve heard those stories from some of the real crusty ones. Us generation X/Z, whatever the F I am, envy your time in the service.

Rat - you type a whole lot of what we should do.  A ten year old could do that.  What you are not doing is describing how we go about it.  How do I have a discussion with a liberal about why immigration control is important when they are more outraged that some parents don't want dicks in the girls locker room than the fact that they are paying a shitload more at the pump and the cash register?  Are you not talking to liberals?  That's the kind of stuff they will come at you with claws over nowadays.

The stuff you typed about NPR...good grief you are out of touch.  Yes, the fringe mess is all over the View, all over MSNBC, and all over social media.

Facts, I’ve seen three separate liberal “friends” claim they are happy to pay higher gas prices to do their part to combat climate change and help Ukraine, no joke.  The moderate dems must be in hiding.

This is probably the dumbest sentence of this entire thread.

    Are you pretty sure?

How many 46 pilots do you really think are out there that are thinking to themselves “damn, I really wanted fighters…not because they go fast and drop bombs and look cool but because I don’t like flying with another pilot. Maybe AMC will make the KC-46 single pilot and my itch will be tickled and I’ll be a real tanker fighter pilot! Call me Maverick!” You think this is the case?

Or…maybe you’re indicting the whole KC-46 community over the actions of a handful of patches at one specific Active Duty wing at one specific Active Duty base?

If you’re not in the community, you should probably stay in your lane.

Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

I must I’ve struck a nerve! The wanting to fly fighters comment was tongue in cheek and lord knows my own community has many pilots that have still not gotten over the fact they didn’t get fighters.

No I’m not bashing the entire 46 community, every community has its good dudes and careerists. My point is that these good idea fairies don’t exist in a vacuum at the GO levels. Mini didn’t wake up one day and decide, hey let’s make the 46 single pilot! The community is rightfully figuring out how to make the tactical problem of fuel to fighters in the IPC region work for all players. However, in that path there are bound to be some idiotic ideas. I’m ambivalent to the idea of single pilot if it is a proof of concept for a contingency. Normal ops? I think there are better things the community can focus on.

As for staying in my lane, I have been deeply involved in AMC’s recent push to enable the FSR fight, an initiative that spans all competencies of AMC. By your logic, everyone on this thread that doesn’t fly the 46 should exit stage left?

  18. 12 hours ago, Prozac said:

It’s not the fact that the AF wants to operate some missions single pilot. It’s the fact that the AF wants to take an airframe expressly designed to be operated by a crew, and pilots expressly trained to operate in a crew environment and throw caution to the wind. And when General Numbnuts inevitably touts how successful and great his program is (and he will, regardless of how this thing goes down), airline heads everywhere will sit up and take notice & point to the super successful AF program as they ask the FAA to provide relief from the impending doom of the pilot shortage. Also, there are all sorts of systems designed into tactical single seat aircraft to assist the pilot in maintaining SA. Ever see a HUD baby get into a Dutchess and try to fly a VOR approach on the six pack? It ain’t pretty. Comparing single pilot ops in a fighter vs an airliner is comparing apples and whale dicks.

100% agree with you, but it doesn’t help when the 46 Squadron patch openly proclaims that if an F-16 pilot can do it, he can do it in his 46…yes actual words on an open forum. I’m pretty sure many 46 pilots want this bad as it will tickle their itch that wasn’t scratched after assignment night.

TOAD = Take off and die. When Tankers belonged to SAC in the Cold War, if called upon they would keep flying till they gave every bit of gas to the Buffs headed towards Russia..likely not having enough gas for a safe RTB.

  20. 43 minutes ago, Sua Sponte said:

This. As long as expectations are set that's it's a contingency only thing to train for, sure. However, the retards that infest AMC as "leadership" will make sure it becomes a normal currency due to a pilot shortage.

The head honcho at AMC who is suggesting this is probably one of the best and most respected leaders in the Air Force. If he is so hell bent on doing this, he’s one of the few I would just trust as having his reasons.  Now, what I don’t trust is middle management from Wing Leadership at McConnell and the staff not screwing up this concept, for example mission creep as you mentioned above.

I’ve seen this debated in a few threads now. From my understanding, this would be a wartime contingency scenario such as not having enough crew rested pilots to flush from a base, or allowing essentially a 24 hour duty day with only two pilots, etc?
