Did anybody ever tell her she's not supposed to do this as a member of the US military?  Lol

She's pushing politics as a f-ing GO?  Good job AF, good job.

Non partisan apolitical military, unless the left is in charge and you’re touting their narratives. Brandon probably pooped himself in joy watching his generals push his agenda.

  2. I know we cover plenty of examples of toxic Air Force leadership on these boards…however those pale into comparison to the toxicity of Army GOs. Said toxicity is widely accepted in the Army - in a system that openly rewards people for BF their peers and stepping on their people to make it to the top ranks.

If you’ve ever (unfortunately) worked a Joint Assignment…you know.

I may be super disconnected from the younger generation, but is all this drag show etc really popular amongst young Airmen? Like are 20 year olds actively seeking out this form of entertainment or is it just loud voices on the internet?

    Yes…

Now you get to do finance’s job for them virtually instead of in person! Gives back more time for some 19 year old with a single digit ASVAB score to catch up on the latest rendition of TikTok videos.

It's a hilarious Air Force non-solution to a problem they created.. you could just release the list and still have the Maj selects close out on the Capt SCOD date. The Capt SCOD is before the fiscal year ends so no one will have pinned on yet anyway 🤷🏻‍♂️ literally the end result is the same without keeping everyone in limbo.

I don't know what I expected to happen, big AF has a knack for choosing the dumbest possible COAs

This is what happens when you have non operators running the A1 echelons.

In the latest installment of how one acidic general officer can ruin a command...I present Unit PT and....Open Ranks Inspections...coming soon to an AFSOC near you!

I’m sure you were well loved so don’t take this personally but what is it with toxic AFSOC senior leaders?? You guys must want to compete badly with AMC to see who can run their pilots out of the Air Force faster.

Some of those folks definitely put the Special in AFSOC. We had a terrible SARM troop one deployment. After several counseling sessions, I directed the individual to reread the RTM and sections of the 401. I’ve never seen somebody stare so blankly in my life.

It’s a thankless job, it should definitely be a job contracted by civilians or done by GSs. The few good ones I’ve met were given some more rewarding responsibilities within the DOs realm to help them stand out. Of course that’s hard if the individual doesn’t give a shit to begin with.

This dude who was fired was TDY to Mildenhall last year and saw a tanker sq patch my brother had made and threw a hissy fit about it to local leadership. My brother laughed when he saw he got fired.

Well good then, another shoe clerk gets the boot. Although it’s his keen attention to your brother’s patch and obsession with appearances that probably got him to the GO ranks to begin with.

Dude whatever you do, try and stay away from PACAF. Going TDY around the pacific is great until you realize they look for any reason they can not to pay you per the JTR, or they just never put funds in your DTS LOA.

Don’t listen to this, the best TDYs in my life were in PACAF. You may have to pay a little out of pocket to not stay at cockroach inn on upper Tumon Vice the Westin but it’s worth it.

“The military is not pushing woke agendas” - CSAF, Sec Def, etc…

Even if they knew the contrary to be true, would they really come out and admit it? They are all political appointees serving under the current regime.

Possible? Anything is possible but its incredibly rare and so unlikely its not worth planning a career out of it. In my 14 years AD they only had one crossflow window, that was only available to a very small audience of eligible pilots (based on their time on station, duration of PCS, years of service etc...) and they only selected an incredibly small number of people. The fighter community generally doesn't have an interest in taking crossflows and has found it has worked better for them to suffer undermanned than to deal with perceived cultural friction. There is probably some merit to some of this, a lot of the rest is probably ball wash, regardless, the AF has by and large decided it is not a good idea.

Being a heavy pilot isn't all that bad. Its a pretty hefty pay raise when you account for all of the per diem dollars of being on the road constantly. You will lead earlier in your career because you will actually have enlisted aircrew hanging around the squadron. You will have a slightly easier time transitioning airlines as your experience is more relevant, dont need to worry about centerline thrust restrictions and that bullshit. You get to go to some cool places fighter dudes never see, like St John's.

My best advice is to discount the possibility of crossflow for now because in the near term you have an incredibly important decision to make regarding the platforms that are available to you--and fighters aren't one of them. Whether crossflow happens again or not, your success in life is largely going to depend on your ability to fly the platform you earn out of UPT. So you should look at the mission sets that are available to you and decide what you find interesting, what you can see yourself doing long term. Read the airframe and mission thread and ask your IPs. Air Refueling, Airlift, C2ISR, SOF, etc.... they all have pros and cons.

This is the best advice you’re going to get. I’ll also offer - do your best to love the one you’re with / bloom where you are planted. Once you start learning your mission set it becomes easier to become integrated with the community and enjoy the mission without looking back.

Please don’t be the new guy who shows up day one telling everyone he doesn’t want to be there. It’s really hard to recover from that, and many communities even in the mobility world are quite proud. I am not saying you will do that but I’ve seen it rather often with young bucks.

I was a 38 to mobility guy. At first I was pretty disappointed but I did my best to accept it and move on before I got to my first unit. If you do not like your mission, still knock it out of the park and there are many options to try something else.

Just saw this article about candidates for CSAF. I know there is the MAF v. CAF argument and its surprising that the 2 people they mention have MAF backgrounds. Both seem to have legit credibility with TPS. Just curious on the opinions of the forum.

Surprised to see Van Ovost on there, they don’t usually make Combatant Commanders Service Chiefs. She is a credible leader and got where she is on her own merit but it wouldn’t surprise me if she becomes CSAF so they can play the “first female Chief of Staff” drum, she has already been in some of the White House’s PR stunts.

I would offer Gen Minihan as most qualified for the job given our current pacing threat and his resume out West. However, he is a disruptive leader (in a good way, little over the top but effective)…that level of leadership selection doesn’t reward anyone but yes men (or women or whatever).

Fingers was a bit disruptive, a lot of good changes happened under him especially with regards to talent management. Gen Brown just seems to keep the lights on and not make any waves.

I’ve never seen or met a Nazi in my entire life.  I don’t know any blood and soil radical nationalists.  If I’m around bigots, they don’t say anything out loud.  I’ve also never met a white supremacist.

I have known countless people who completely stood behind BLM from the very start.  They gave them money and marched in the streets.  I’ve known people who’ve bought into the hands up don’t shoot scam and went with the bashing of cops.  I watched 6 or 7 trans kids walk the stage at my youngest daughters HS graduation.  I watched the vast majority of our society fall for the Covid lockdown power grabs.

It sure seems to me that the radical left is actually and tangibly destroying our society while we chase some invisible boogey man on the right…

Im not talking about AOC or MTG.  I’m talking about in my community.

And I’ve seen it in the military. I’ve had a sitting squadron commander shame her squadron for not wanting to read White Fragility, I’ve seen 1206s and strat lists get kicked back because “too many white men.” The sitting head of DEI in the DOD is an open racist who still has a job. I really wanted to believe that these were isolated incidents and that my fellow conservatives are propping these up as boogeymem, heck I wish that was the case…but it is sadly not.

Jon Stewart nailed it in this interview.

Hick's performance was so bad it's hit her Wikipedia profile: "On April 6, 2023, Kathleen Hicks and comedian and veteran advocate Jon Stewart spoke at the University of Chicago on the human impact of military service.[18] Many of the clips from this interview went viral due to her unable to maintain her composure."

Pretty fitting for the current batch of nominative positions. I know she’s a “Dr.” but, gheesh!
