  1. Honestly I think this Russian collusion/conspiracy thing has been beat to death, on both sides.  It has been one of the biggest distractions from the real issues thanks to politics from both sides.  The public has neither the patience nor interest anymore, unless you can’t go a day without posting on Facebook how evil Trump is.

Also, the more people try to perpetuate distractions such as Stormy Daniels (good lord who the f cares?) or Russia they are just guaranteeing Trump’s re-election. Honestly, at this point, thank god.

FWIW one of the c-17 crossflow guys was DG at IFF.

Good for him! Although It probably helped that he spent the last 3 years mastering the T-38, while his IFF classmates had just finished UPT.  Regardless, it shows that MAF to CAF can be successful.  Hopefully he continues to excel in the B course.

It’s probably going to work like when AETC absorbed 19 AF for 1-2 years...then reactivated 19 AF. They probably got tired of the MAJCOM being the waiver authority for everything everything flying related.

Idk about AETC but almost 100% of our waivers in AMC bypass the NAF and go directly to the AMC A staff.  The only thing I’ve seen the NAF do is get rid of toxic Wing Kings

We could probably just dissolve the NAFs entirely.  Do they actually do anything?  In my somewhat limited experience on the Group and Wing staff, I've never sent anything to 8th Air Force...it always goes directly to AFGSC.

Get rid of the NAFs and you may have a decent shot at staffing some of the MAJCOM billets currently going unfilled due to the Rated Staff Allocation Plan (or whatever we're calling it now).

They have their uses overseas.  Think PACAF; you have a NAF for Air Forces Japan, Alaska, Hawaii etc. It makes sense for different sub-AORs.  However, I think you could absolutely get rid of 18th AF in AMC for example.  Now, would it be weird for Wing Commanders to report directly to a 4 Star MAJCOM/CC? Not sure.

I’m for it, no more middle man.  No more “I’ve got 8 bosses bob.”  No more scrambling to get slides ready for the OG meeting only to brief the same god damn info at the Wing meeting.  Hopefully, no more OG to MXG/CC fighting on a Friday afternoon while the schedulers are sitting around wondering what schedule to execute.

What does "toxic work" environment even mean?  He yelled at people?

No, he was a prick who threatens his Squadron Commanders and DOs, threatened to cancel flying lines if people didn’t show up to his gay morale parade, probably sets a record for kicking back OPRs and award packages, cares more about looking green on mobility slides than actual mission effectiveness.  He absolutely created a toxic environment at Dyess that anyone here can vouche for.  He completely deserves to be fired and I for one am happy and hopeful that senior leadership is watching and trying to make positive change.  Maybe other commanders will now be put on notice and realize that if they don’t effectively lead and foster morale they’ll be canned as well.

Nav's have been part of the C-130 community longer than the C-130J has been around.  I'm sure he'll "figure it out" how to run a Wing that has an aircraft that got rid of his crew position, which really doesn't have anything to do with running a Wing since he's there for complete leadership.

    It’s also just temporary.

May be overthinking it, but this guy’s shinanigans has been made pretty public on these forums.  He has pretty much gone against every initiative from higher HQ to at least try to turn the ship around.  It’s also no secret that 3 stars and above frequent this board.  Coincidence?

Is anyone really arguing that flying heavies is hard (I’m a heavy guy. It’s not hard)?

Just quit being a dick to your tanker that’s all. Sometimes they have to turn through the sun.

And sometimes your tanker just sucks.

And sometimes the fighter guy breaks the boom nozzle off in his hole.

    Carry on. 😎

Not all heavies are equal, sometimes big AMC forgets about us herk guys and I would venture to say that being  a herk dude down in the tactical mission set while when we aren’t getting boned by TACC has it’s useful challenges, certainly not easy by any means.

What’s Driving the U.S. Air Force Pilot Shortage?

    http://foreignpolicy.com/2018/05/04/whats-driving-the-u-s-air-force-pilot-shortage/amp/

Navy pilot Lt. Jack McCain claims that Air Force pilots “are not provided the opportunity for meaningful leader development.” If this is your boy, please tell him to STFU. He isn't helping.

Look who is dad is, make no mistake that the guy has ambititions - that are unfortunately not in line with actually fixing the pilot shortage.

I’m sorry, but didn’t the AF just announce they are devaluing PME completion in order to complete it at a time of your choosing. Also, what about the policy two years ago of officers who are selects not being able to sign up for correspondence until they were picked up for a school, which didn’t offer JPME credit.

It it makes me sick to think douchnozzles who completed ACSC but suck as pilots would make it over those who are stone cold killers, but didn’t have the time because they were focused on their core job. We have truly lost what is important.

Don’t even get me started! The major EP/WIC types that should be in the squadron mentoring the copiglets are staying at work till 7pm in whatever useless Wing job they have, flying once a month and then going home and working on ACSC...truly sad.

Based on the video and the witness recollection of the relative position of the aircraft to the landing rwy (28?). Looks like a base to final stall/spin, or a Vmc roll if they were doing some sort of engine out work and it went south (no pun intended). Condolences to my childhood hometown unit.

Maybe severe prop over speed? Rare but can turn into a death spiral if not handled promptly.  So sad, a toast to the crew :(

You would think, but we have in fact ramped up production through syllabus cuts, maintaining break neck lines per day (much more emergency returns recently than is generally expected), leadership encouraged PA's, as well as waiving multiple sorties in current classes until the new and "improved" (shorter) syllabus is fully in swing.  OBOGs be damne'd the machine carries on.   Side note old timers should be happy, we are using paper gradebooks again for our new syllabus until TIMs can be whipped into compliance (it too is rebelling, yay Timmy!)

Yeah, no way this leads to more accidents down the road.  Jam pack everyone through to make the slides at HAF look green.

I curious for any Iran hawks out there, what do you envision is the plan you’d rather pursue? I’m assuming decertify the JCPOA on 12 May...then what?

Credit where credit’s due...DPRK’s recent peace overtures should be viewed very skeptically, but they are also promising. Much better to be negotiating peace and denuclearization, even warily, rather than threatening war IMHO.

My view is that it’s mostly the same for Iran. They’re not a good regime and are involved in lots of other nefarious stuff (kinda like DPRK). But I’d rather enforce/amend/negotiate over the JCPOA rather than threaten war if that is indeed step 2 from above.

In general I’m in the “do something” camp re: foreign policy without exactly being a hawk, and to me negotiating the JCPOA and now enforcing it while checking Iran’s bad behavior elsewhere is the something I’m a fan of doing.

Honest question, not looking for a cookie-cutter left/right blackhole debate

Let’s start with not paying them billions of dollars?

Lets see how this North Korea thing plays out..because right now, despite all his haters and naysayers it looks like he is on to something.  Not saying that he is the end all be all- just that there is some positive pragmatism to his approach when it comes to potential adversaries.

Another good one from Enlisted Jesus is the removal of practice bleeding via Course 14/15 for our NCO/SCNOs.  Don't know if you zipper-suited-sun-gods care that much, but over on the support side it's a big deal.  I had good folks get screwed because of the stupidity this caused when implemented.

CMSAF Wright has almost wiped out anything close to a legacy the idiot before him put in place.  Hope it burns.

Of course we care, many of us zipper suited sun gods have enlisted aircrew and/or work in OSSs where we supervise enlisted folks.  Anything that allows them more time focusing on their primary job or more time with the family instead of idiotic PME is a win for everyone!

Blues Monday, the RIFs, reapings, practice bleeding, etc.....basically all the things we are gripping about today and reasons the good dudes are leaving were all exacerbated under his watch.

Got a chance to talk to an AFPC rep who helps run the promotion boards and was involved in the recent O-4 board. Key takeaways were this is a 100% promotion opportunity not a 100% promotion rate (Duck you may still be in luck). The difference this year is instead of rating the package on a 6-10 scale then making a cut based on the rack and stack, the option was simply a yes or no to promote the person. If you got a yes, you are 100% getting promoted not waiting to see how you fell in the overall rankings and make the cut.

Interesting, why did wing commanders have to provide a “yes or no” if they were going to second guess all the recommendations!?  God this level of incompetence...

I heard the the 09 LAF has finally been reported into OSD today. I haven’t checked myself since I’m off work today but got a text from a bro with that info.

So what would a rough timeline be from OSD to notification of promotees?
