Further evidence how useless it is....

Seems that way.  I totally get working staff prior to going back to command an ops unit, but I have a hard time seeing value added in ACSC besides the box to check.

Any IDE grads on here care to share whether it was actually valuable for your leadership development and career beyond the checked box?

Good evening Gentlemen and lady's, decided to look back at some of you all comments and see if what I thought would happen to my comment, happen, which it did to no surprise to me. Administration pulled. Which basically mean that admin are probably members of the Top 3 Club and had their feelings hurt. And maybe I should apologize to them, if the truth hurts. " NOT!! . FOR I WILL NOT COMPROMISE MY HONOR, NOR MY INTEGRITY: By blowing smoke up somebody's Butt, or paint the truth through Rose Color Glasses. And for you young gentlemen who spoke of the Airman Oath and knowing the Air Force Songs as being traits of a true leader, you forgot one, the NCO CREED. Needles to say you don't know what you are you are talking about. For I lived by those beliefs, unlike the majority of the the NCOs, to them, they were mere words on a piece of paper, so feel good words to make their Airmen feel happy. They forgot it was their word, it was their promise to the to their Airmen and their families under them. Oh yes, these simple promise are signs of a true leader, as the fruit salad on ones Chest, or the strips on sports upon his sleeves at retirement. BUT THE TRUE CHARACTER OF THE INDIVIDUAL MAKES A TRUE LEADER.

India (our allies in this case) has Migs and Pakistan Has F-16s?

We have not always treated India as an ally.  Starting from the beginning of the Cold War and exacerbated by Nixon/Kissinger, we tended to side with Pakistan instead of India.  India then cozied up to USSR, hence why they have MiGs.

Trump is probably the first US president to flip this viewpoint, but it has largely been rhetoric. It will be interesting if this shift in foreign policy manifests itself now.

It's possible that the F-16 crash site is on Paki controlled turf and some of the AIM-120 missile debris landed on India controlled turf (That's if a PAF F-16 was actually shot down by a IAF MIG-21, "I have my doubts"). Also, there very well could've been numerous AIM-120 missiles fired in this little fight (TBD). This engagement happened near the Line of Control (on both sides of the LoC) that separates Paki controlled Kashmir (Azad Kashmir) from India controlled Kashmir (Jammu Kashmir). The IAF MIG-21 was shot down (ground air defense weapons or air-to-air weapons, TBD) on the Paki side of the LoC, the pilot (IAF Wing Commander) ejected over Paki controlled territory and is currently a POW.

Hopefully the IAF wing commander returns home safely.  That’s incredible that the wing commander led the charge on the mission.  Most of our wing commanders would be more concerned with everyone being green dot complete prior to the mission.

Thank you! Happy to hear the app is streamlining preflight planning.

    1. Is the Quick Turn Brake Energy tool useful for analyzing brake energy? Or do you mainly use the landing brake energy calculations on the Landing tab?

    2. There are 3 mitigations currently included: VROT correction for VMCA, PLT Landing Weight Limits for 0% and 50% flaps, and Max Effort Landing Weight Limit. The next release will include the gust factor correction to the PLT Landing Weight limits, so that should cover all the current mitigations.

    1. The quick turn is definitely useful

    2.  The 4th mitigation is the missing one, thanks!!

Thread bump, since the C-130J preTOLD app has been operational with several squadrons for more than 6 months. We're working on the next version, which will include Block 8.1 data and some other major updates. We want to make sure the app stays relevant and continues to address the daily needs of flight crews.

To current users at Little Rock, Dyess, Ramstein, and Yokota:

    1. What features do you use the most, and how could they be improved?
    2. What problems to you still encounter in TOLD planning?
    3. Any other feedback on strengths, weaknesses, and use cases is sincerely appreciated.

    1. We mostly use it for pre flight planning, making sure we won’t have any issues landing or taking off from a runway, looking at 3 engine out issues and break energy.

    2. If the TOLD app could include the required mitigations necessary from the 1-1 that would be absolutely awesome.

Overall, right now it has been a tremendous app for planning so thanks!!

Interesting to note all those people who railed against Obama's use of executive privilege are remaining silent on Trump declaring a "national emergency", this completely sidestepping the legislative branch of government to fund his pet project.

Interesting to see all the people quiet when Obama abused executive privilege now up in arms about Trump using executive power..see how that works?

The difference is this time it is actually to protect Americans from the out of control illegal immigration flood.

I’m sorry... what’s your definition of shiny penny again? Because you just threw out three different categories of people in that statement, all of which fall into very different rankings in my opinion.

Sorry let me be more clear: the only rated  O-4s I have seen as DOs are school selects, or are most likely getting picked up for school.  Of those, most will likely go to staff after.  These are the people I’m referring to as shiny pennies (not in a bad way, but their careers are pretty much taken care of.)   There are a few other 0-4 DOs but they are usually already 0-5 selects (may or may not be shiny pennies.)

I hope you guys get promoted!

    But. (Devils Advocate)

You committed to 20 as a major by taking the bonus. Do you think the bean counters want you to promote? Plenty of O-4’s taking over as DO nowadays. No reason to hand out more money when you already took a little extra and signed a contract....

Every rated* 0-4 I know of that is a DO is one of the shiny penny type that’s about to go to school / staff or is already an 0-5 select.

    Edit to include rated.

Dude if those strats are middle of the road I must have been a turd burglar on active duty as a CGO! 🤣

#8/150 Majors is top 5% and now you’re “middle of the road?” The active duty rating system is broken for the 69% of dudes who are not shiny pennies nor bottom feeders. Dudes in that vast “middle of the road” have no idea where they stand and even worse, no real incentive to try harder when their fate is already likely sealed.

Theres a big god damned difference beteeen 15th percentile and 85th percentile but hey, thanks for playing. I guess with manning almost everyone should be free to be continued at O4 indefinitely but that’s cold comfort for many dudes who were thinking O5 was the “standard career.”

This is my confusion as well, how the hell is this middle of the road with multiple top tier strats? Sounds like the dude’s SR either doesn’t know what he is talking about or is playing games.

Saw that. Since we don't have to rebuild the wall every year, monthly changes in border crossing won't be an issue.

But this has nothing to do with efficacy or numbers. You're not stupid, you know a wall would work, just like you know a whole slew of solutions would work. You don't want illegal immigration curbed, plain and simple.

It's not like it makes you unique. Best as I can tell from actual conversations with liberal friends (not internet), it's a largely unfocused sense of empathy and Western guilt that fuels the response we see today. "I don't know what I'm for, I just know I'm not for that [the wall, deportations, eVerify, national guard on the border, etc]."

Ultimately I blame conservatives. They've allowed an alternate history to propagate that paints the triumphs of the post-enlightenment West as solely the result of exploiting other cultures and societies. Howard Zimm has the most egregious example of this in his book.

Until conservatives can unify and explain how capitalism, cultural assimilation, individualism, free speech, the second amendment, low minimum wages, blah blah blah, actually benefit the very people that liberals seek to protect, there will be no progress.

Shacked it.  Let us also not forget that some people are against Trump’s ideas because they are fueled by their desire for him to fail.  Look at Black Caucasus members like Lewis and Sheila Jackson Lee, they flat out admitted they didn’t vote for Trump’s criminal justice reform because they didn’t want him to succeed, even though the left has been asking for this for decades.

Goddamn all this talk reminds me with shivers what AD goes through...a mystical journey with ever-changing rules shrouded in secrecy where success is mostly a question of luck and timing.

Mercy on your souls for staying with AD. I know not everyone has a choice to exit early. Best of...luck to those who remain. It’s literally the sharpest tool in your bag.

And Wing/CCs blatantly ignoring CSAF and SECAF guidance.  Can’t blame fingers for this mess when his minions’ minions run this monkey show.

Sorry I'm on vacation and don't want to waste it debating.

But basically the wall will not stop illegal activity. To think so is very naive.

Polls show the vast majority of Americans are not in favor of the wall. Yes I know polls can be wrong. But the last election was a swing away from Trump and his policies. Those millions also want to see the government responds to their wants, needs, and concerns... and they exceed those "deplorables" in number.

The GOP had 2 years to fund a wall. Nada. Why?

I’ll answer your last question: because the GOP is not united.  Some GOP senators / reps prefer to look cool by obstructing the President as opposed to working with him to move the agenda forward (I.e Flake, McCain, Collins).   We call them RINOs, republican in name only.  Oh and don’t forget the failure Mitt Romney and his desperate yet fact-less swing at the President.

Political beliefs aside, establishment politicians on both sides are terrified of Trump because he is challenging the status quo.  These establishment politicians have remained in power for so long that any changes in the status quo threaten their power and job security.

Trump’s personal style/tweets/gaffes aside, at least he is an honest pragmatist.

That’s probably because there are no actual weapons in AMC - hence why the Weapons Instructor Course in AMC is STUPID!!

I forgot that we’re all warriors in today’s USAF though, so maybe I’m the stupid one...

Wtf are you talking about? Weapons School isn’t about “weapons” it is about creating expert tacticians who are proficient at integrating effects, you know, what we do when we actually go to war.  Also, many AMC assets fly in the same MEZ as the pointy nose bretheren, so it makes sense to have proficient tacticians who understand how to mitigate those threats.  So yes you are the stupid one for making that comment.

Unfortunately, AMC leadership does horrible job at properly utilizing its patches.  I’ve seen some improvements but still too many Wing Exec Patches.

Agree with Joe, but my experience was the same at McChord circa 2013-2015. Fortunately I was a copilot upgrading to AC during that timeframe, so I didn’t hold a job “important enough” to be responsible for writing OPRs/bullets/etc. But I did sit at cruise a lot with ACs who were nerding out on OPRs and 1206s on their personal laptops. What a clown show.

There were some things I enjoyed, but in general I hated the MAF, and I hope to never, ever return before I can punch.

Part of the reason the MAF sucks in a lot of places is: Phoenix Eagle.  Many of the MAF’s leaders are part of this self licking ice cream cone of careerism.  On the other hand, most CCs I’ve met on the CAF side are Weapons Officers.  Kind of shows the difference in priorities and why we rightfully often get shit on by the CAF.

Fortunately, I’ve seen this trend start to change in the MAF.  Quite a few weapons officers getting picked up for command.  Many other “non-special programs” officers are also getting picked up and some of them didn’t even do in-residence IDE.

How hard is it to just do both? Build a big wall then legalize all the Dreamers. Problem solved. I’ll be here all week.

Wasn’t that the proposed deal this past summer? Trump straight up offered legalization for Dreamers in return for the wall.  Dems refused and walked away, now here we are.
