  1. Aren't you the legacy that said he was guaranteed a spot and telling other folks they shouldn't bother applying?
  2. As far as I know, you would go back to your home unit for seasoning. I doubt your unit is going to pay a reserve unit to spin you up for 2 years. You belong to that guard unit. A guard unit isn't really a sponsor in the sense that I understand reserve units sponsoring folks. You are hired to a specific guard unit, and they own you.
  3. My wife and I are currently at Laughlin for UPT. We live in a duplex with our 3 year old little boy, and we have a reasonable 3 bedroom one and a half bath. You can get more for your money off base, but living on base is worth the extra dough for the convenience being in UPT. Buzz me a message for pictures/details. My son isnt old enough for school yet, so he just attends the CDC. They are building a magnet school on base, but I do not know much about it. As far as things to do, the town doesng offer much, but there is great fishing at the Lake and lots of outdoor opportunities. San Antonio is 2.5 hours, Austin isnt much further, Corpus is maybe 4 or 5, and Dallas and Houston are each about 7.
  4. Estimated timeline is roughly a month before T6s can get back in the air. T6 studs are "working" short days and getting freebie sims to keep them in the game. Doesn't sound like classes that have not started T6 academics/flightline yet are going to be starting for a while.

  6. Missing man and a buff flyover in memoriam.
  7. Congrats! Where did you get picked up?
  8. I just commissioned through OTS on the 10th. PT during TFIT/TFOT is a joke. It will be mandatory 2 to 3 times a week as a group. You will workout for maybe 15-20 minutes of directed exercises, and my class usually ran straight to the chow hall for breakfast after our last exercise without having time to stretch or cool down. Be careful of injuries. Several PT sessions had 250 cadets sprinting directly at each other in the dark. You will have time to workout on your own whether its outdoors or at the gym on the OTS campus. Sent from my SM-G900V using Baseops Network Forums mobile app
  9. x2 Full Service Dress or Bust. I wouldn't have worn anything else to my interview.
  10. I was selected for an F-16 slot at a Guard unit on my first application, and I have a 2.4. My guard unit's minimum GPA is 2.0. Whole person concept.
  11. I am at the 114FW, and I know we currently have 1 AD viper pilot and have 4 slots total. Sent from my SM-G900V using Baseops Network Forums mobile app
  12. Myself and 2 others from my unit had to OTS in January. From the ANG time line to UPT thread, here are a few more names that look like will be joining us: Kilabe26 UncleFunyun SPAWNMASTER Bb17 (the op) WVU11 (as above)
  13. Thanks for posting the question, OP. I was wondering the same thing. I am currently enlisted in a guard unit, and I will be attending UPT at Laughlin in May. I found the answers helpful, also!
  14. I was selected for an F-16 spot with the 114FW, and I will be going through Laughlin! Sounds like the other guys I got picked up with will be at Sheppard though.
  15. Stay the course! Keep that GPA up. Get involved in some extra curricular activities on campus. I would suggest doing some volunteer work whether it be on campus or off campus. In my experience guard units like to see community involvement. Whether to pursue ROTC or Guard/Reserve is all on your shoulders...whether you want to go AD for 10 years or have a little more flexibility.
  16. See you at Maxwell! What unit did you get picked up by?
  17. For what its worth, I enlisted as an F-16 Avionics guy in my unit in November 2014. I got back from tech school in January of 2016. I applied to the board at my unit in May for an F-16 UPT spot, and I interviewed in June. Found out I got the spot the day after the interview, and I leave for OTS in January. I had been in touch with several units in the area about applying to their boards as well, and I had application packages sealed up and ready to be shipped off if plan A(flying at my unit) didn't go through. If you want to fly, explore all of your options. Don't be afraid to communicate with your shop supervisor about your goals and intentions. Get him/her on board. Their support will help a ton. One of the letters I submitted with my packet was from my supervisor, and I feel that, whether you are applying to your own unit or somewhere else, it will help a lot.
  18. I am honestly not sure exactly when my packet went to the NGB. I made sure I had everything tied up on my end ASAP after I got the nod. I rode the recruiter and training pretty good this summer to try to get things moving quickly. Sorry I couldn't be more help there!
