A few other gems from the article to consider. AETC seems to be working hard to keep the retention crisis going. I was in your same boat in 2004. I didn't take a $72K bonus as a SrA so I could preserve my options. Instead I applied to OTS during a time when AD selection rates were around 5%. I have no regrets. I've still never taken a bonus, and I still have no regrets. Everything has an opportunity cost, and I chose to 'spend' those lost bonus dollars on freedom of maneuver.

AFI32-6005, para 4.8 has the answer to your question. Having spent a few years in Clovis, I wouldn't be in a rush to move off base. Clovis is not horrible, but the base life is much more convenient for a young Airman. How are they? Here's the first result that came up on google.

You can. 1. Request an FEB under AFI11-401, para 4.3.7.3. 2. Request a VILO under para 4.4.6. 3. Hope for separation under 4.4.6.2, with the understanding that you may also be assigned to an nonflying job.
