2013 F/A-18 crash: Out of fuel, out of time and one chance to land
How much extra satellite bandwidth would you need to bring this capability to every commercial airliner? Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App!

It'll take them three sorties to long a 1.0 of NVG.

There are three Global Strike Huey guys (including me) going there this summer as well. I don't think the Osprey functional is the same.

If you are referencing the one that was just removed then he severely went off the deep end since you were under his command.

BODN App
Any idea on how to get the custom smilies on the app? It looks really weird when people are giving a smile instead of a beer mug in a gone west thread.

Are the only colors available nowadays orange and blue? Seems like everything from video games to action movies have the same VFX artist coloring inside the lines.

Study: Nuclear Force Feeling 'Burnout' from Work
Similar in the fact that he was a horrible mirco-manager and an even worse OG/CC. The CDI covered items outside of Helo Ops but here is a sampling of the policies that he had in place: -He thought that a Huey performing 180 autorotations (EP sortie item) with the doors open was incredibly unsafe because he could see through the cabin and wanted them to KIO. -He restricted all fights outside of the missile complex. This included any training flights to off-station airfields that were within one tank of gas. -He required to SOF to personally brief all flights risk assessments and he would change their flight plan if he felt that the risk was too high. -He had a copy of the Huey -1 on the desk and would quibble any MX issues that the crews said that they had. There are a bunch others but these are what stood out from my conversations with the 37th.

Also the FE Warren OG/CC has been fired as a result of a separate CDI.

They didn't. We are the only squadron unaffected, aside for the need for all new appointment letters. The three missile squadrons and the OSS commander were fired.

Study: Nuclear Force Feeling 'Burnout' from Work
Ding dong the witch is dead! Edit: It's a bloodbath over here. Four Sq/CCs, two DOs, Chief of OGV, plus the OG/CC and CD are going to be off the base within the next 48 hours. Around 85 missileers will face NJP with 5 or so going to court martial. Apparently there were missile flight commanders that had emails direct from the OG/CC saying that they would do whatever was required to score 100% on their testing. A lot of changes are going to be driven by this. Some of the top ones on Alston's list are the establishment of an aircrew style eval process (17-mo cycle, MQF closed book, and open book testing), and the establishment of a Helo OG. This would put the helo squadrons under an aviation leadership instead of the missile OGs. Each of the three helo squadrons would be OPCON and ADCON to this OG at FE Warren and Minot/Malmstrom would be GSUs. Hopefully this drives some change in the missile wings for the better.

FY 14 Force Management Program (RIF, VSP, TERA)
The Army got out of it by saying that the Mi-17 was not safe to fly. It's the only deployment that Huey guys can fill other than the odd staff job.

FY 14 Force Management Program (RIF, VSP, TERA)
A town hall meetings with the SECAF and a two-star general isn't all it's cracked up to be. The SECAF and the 20 AF/CC came to Malmstrom in Feb in the wake of the cheating scandal. They held an all call and force modernization was mentioned as one of the future AF challenges. One of our pilots asked a question regarding the modernization of our 40+ year old helicopter. Exact response is as follows: SECAF: I'm sorry what do you fly? Pilot: The UH-1N Huey SECAF: I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with that aircraft. (Proceeds to talk about CRH) 20 AF/CC: Don't ask questions with acronyms that people don't know. (Then proceeds to talk about a previous question) This was while on a road trip to AFGSC missile bases where there are only two types of MDS's; ICBMs and Huey's. She instantly lost credibility with every pilot in the room.

Dependent Recertification - Who's got the back-story?
The briefing we got was that a group of socials was assigned a month and you had during that month to recertify. If you are TDY or deployed during your specified month then you would have 30 days from the return to validate your dependent BAH.

Army to AF Transfer (Green to Blue)
All of the TH-67's are flown out of Cairns. The place is like a beehive during their mass launch and recovery. The 23rd has the old Army test building and one hangar compared to everything else on the airfield that belongs to the Army.

CSAR-X
Any idea if they're going to have TF/TA? The original HH-60D had it but, as you know, it was cut for budgetary reasons.

CSAR-X
Probably something like this with an EGMS and some PR avionics. Hopefully they won't have the 400lbs of old wiring that the current -60G's have. Edit: And be painted like this:
