Col Jack Broughton Passes
Jack Broughton 1925-2014 Thud Ridge is one of the best books that I have ever read. In my opinion the chapter Longest Day is one of the most heart wrenching and infuriating things published about the US air campaign and leadership during Operation Rolling Thunder. He would have been awarded a second Air Force Cross but it was denied by Gen John Ryan was denied due the "Turkestan incident." His willingness to go to bat for his subordinates is something that I feel would never happen in today's Air Force.

NASA's unmanned Antares rocket explodes on launch
Orbital had a problem earlier this year with an engine exploding on the test stand. Looks like it happened again. As a side note, these engines are the same type of engines intended to be used in the Soviet N1 moon rocket which failed four times before being cancelled.

AF SUPT - Helo
Yes and no. I don't know if they have gotten the last couple aircraft but all of the training is now in the TH-1Hs. The 23rd has the only program in the entire 58 SOW that finishes students on time. Both T-1s and T-38s are dropping CV-22s. They actually shut off the Rucker CV drops for a while but that was short lived.

More Uniform Changes!
The H-1s issued Massif as well. I took it to Arctic Survival and it was amazing. Only wore two layers and I was nice and toasty in -20*F

More Uniform Changes!
So I dug around the far reaches of Google's second page of search results and found out some more info on this. This presentation outlines some of the objectives of this program and from the looks of things it seems like they are taking a hard look at the Army's FREE program. Massif is currently the producer for the FREE garments so there is hope that the AF can pull off a miracle by using something that already exists and works well and implement it across the board. Just make it mirror the NAVAIR color or configuration and you're set.

More Uniform Changes!
Why are they doing this? They already have Massif (which is amazing) or the Navy's MCPS. Seems like a waste.

Information on PCS/moves/moving (DITY, TMO, DLA, storage)
Does this apply if you refuse on-base lodging and stay off base but do not have a non-a? Also if a commander authorizes proportional rate MI&E instead of the on base rate is this hit as well? This wasn't explained in the policy change memo.

Information on PCS/moves/moving (DITY, TMO, DLA, storage)
It's the MI&E that is reduced, not the lodging

The army didn't want to pay Crye the licensing fee for multicam so they used a pattern they already had rights to.
