  1. I like the CAF mentality. We have 35 pages of what is wrong with the AF, would love to say i'm shocked but it should honestly be about 100 pages. To steer this back on course I think once the AF stops promoting "perfect people" on paper, the ship will start to right itself. These squeeky clean idiots I see running around have their head so far up the ass of the person that can help them get promoted they forget the reason why they are in key leadership positions. To lead! I am so sick and tired of people looking to get promoted instead of making the mission the priority. I have posted more tonight than any other time, the reason? I read this forum and realize that many of YOU are the people I want to see leadership from. I am sure some of you are in key positions and have some influence. We bitch and moan and for the most part make great points and yet nothing happens. To make a quality E you need a strong O. I see a lack of strong officers at the sq and wg level. Sure there are some good guys, but they are too few and far between and don't go as far as they should. I need you guys to step up, stop jockeying for the next rank and lead. Please. We cannot have a great CSAF if everyone between he and the airman basic is unwilling to lead without fear of consequence. Take risks, put your balls on the line, take a stand, and for goodness sake, be a leader. I wish I had the ear of the CSAF. Some may cringe with what I have to say, but damn it I speak my mind, it's always heartfelt, and it's what needs to be said. So come on guys, I haven't seen in the last 15 years enough officers I would follow into fire if they asked. But trust me, we WANT to follow that guy and the AF needs people of character now more than ever. Again, sorry for the rant and I was obviously not an english major so I apologize.
  2. He might be mad at me, but I'm posting this anyway. Two sides to every story and here is the other side: "It was me, but the story has been altered drastically. There was an AD and ANG boom. As for Fraud Waste and Abuse, I spent 12 hours and 20 minutes on island and was billeted on base. This was in conjunction with another mission I had accomplished on a different jet. As for Q3s, nobody got a Q3, especially for not having your EFB charged. I beat them with a debrief because of GK, checklist discipline, and pax brief requirements. I also stroked them for excellent CRM and configuration. I believe the other part according to the post was me threatening the pilots with a Q3. Part of my brief as an evaluator is safety of flight items maybe sent for a commander directed downgrade option. For example, I flew with a different crew in which the pilot did not remove his ring. I left it until prior to t/o. I mentioned something and knew that was sufficient. I have given 3 Q3s since I've been up here, and they were earned. Damaging equipment, GOV boom who could not answer amplified questions and had very limited GK." I hope my buddy was ok with me posting this, just felt like I had to share. Thanks
  3. I have seen bullshit Q-3s from bullshit evaluators but most of the time the Vol 2 sort of let them do it. I wish these people were not evaluators in the first place but that's another thread in itself. I have been fortunate enough to never hand out a Q-3. Thankfully I have never had my hands tied, and I was able to use some discretion. I would like to think that I am as big picture as it comes. I think after being in for a few years I know people and I can tell that If I de-brief the hell out of something, that they will never do it again. I am not a hypocrite, I don't believe I am perfect, and I know mistakes are human. I can forgive mistakes, I can't forgive blatant disregard of regulations and TOs (not battery power or hats). These type of folks are what's wrong with the AF. I just hope my buddy isn't one of them and I believe that's not how it went down. But I will admit, I wasn't there.
  4. M2-How is our system working out right now? Honest question. I think the way our system started out was the way to go, but over time corporations have gotten so big and seem to be all inter-connected that it skews the system. I agree that we should encourage success and 100% socialist systems don't work. Would a hybrid system be better? I don't know, but what is happening in this country is disturbing which is why I posted the video. It wasn't a commentary on wealth re-distribution, just a break down of where the money actually resides. What the means, I will let others judge. But I will say this final point. That curve can only get so bad and distorted before a crisis will bring it down. Reading a book (The Fourth Turning: An American Prophecy) about societies and generational cycles. Seems based on history a Crisis Period is right around the corner. Our politicians are all corrupt, the system is not made for you and I and something has to give. Our social safety net is beyond broken and if no one has the balls to fix that part of our economy, I fear a severe recession/depression is imminent.
  5. Was I complaining about the rich? I said it was interesting and the way our economy is set up, along with the tax code, the upper echelons WILL continue to get richer and the inequality will grow. It is simple math, not an argument on how to climb the economic ladder. I will say that if you are lucky enough to get off your ass and become part of the 1%, those odds are pretty astronomical and good on ya. I work hard every day and have no illusion that I will ever reach that status, nor do I want to, but to just tell folks to get off their asses is juvenile and unrealistic. Can it happen, sure, but damn man there is a reason there are so few of them, because the chances of it happening are slim to none without being born into money, having connections, or being lucky enough to get into an Ivy League school and make connections. Not an all inclusive list of how to succeed, but that is how a lot of them got to where they are. Please don't post examples of self made billionaires, because I will just post those that succeeded in the manner I mentioned. There are a lot of people in this country that could get off there ass, but lets not kid ourselves that some dude on the street could just become a billionaire because he decided to. Rant over because I can't be bothered to argue with people that think they are above the majority of hard working Americans who point out facts and get told to STFU and get off our asses. Just because you can point to some self made millionaires means nothing to me. It's not the norm and cannot be the norm, it's not economically viable. Not Editing for grammar, I couldn't give a shit to be honest. And destroyed many jobs at the same time too. Did I say that???
  6. I know who you are talking about and he's one of the nicest people you will ever meet. Very matter of fact when it comes to flying and i'm sure the real fish was much smaller than the one being talked about. Had to stick up for a good dude.
  7. Very interesting and somewhat disturbing. Disturbing because the curve will only get worse over time.
  8. I don't post as much as I read and this thread happens to be the reason I come back to BO each day. Not a pilot myself but still some great conversation about decision making that I can apply to my job. We had a very experienced captain at FAFB during my last assignment that screwed up and violated airspace around Spokane. He got a briefing together, showed the radar track, played the ATC tapes, and even had the controller from Geiger Field come and talk to the crews. We all knew this guy was a great pilot, but things happen, he took owness of the situation, and that day we all learned something. Day Man, like many have said already, thanks for posting your experience. Hangar Flies are always a good thing in my opinion. Good luck on your next chapter.
  9. Still believe Careerism is the root of all evil in the AF.
  10. ^^^^^^^^^^CH is correct It's sort of like Fight Club.
  11. So glad the pilot is ok. Just read that the F-15's at Kadena were being grounded until some inspections are done. Is this typical in the fighter world following a mishap? Did the tankers at Manas get grounded until inspections were done? Serious questions, not trying to stir the pot or start a fighter type vs heavy type war either. Just curious.
  12. Article I read stated that the Air Force is trying to get the case in their hands, smart move or just very naive to what's been happening lately???
  13. They are trying to get one going as we speak, I will post a link as soon as it's available.
  14. Thanks M2. Snizz-I am admin on the Altus Boom FB page, PM your name and I can add you there and you can contact him directly.
  15. Geno Redmon wrote it. Apparently just the other day.
  16. God speed crew, beers on me when we meet at the ARCP, ARCT TBD.
  17. I took the article the way I posed it. When I attended a SNCO call with him here at Altus a few months prior to his selection as CMSAF, he left me utterly confused. The first 30 minutes he focused on telling us that we should work on changing things around us and the last 10 minutes on accepting the fact that some things we couldn't change and we should "just get on the bus". I shit you not, I was left shaking my head and wondering if I entered the Twilight Zone. Why is it he wanted us focused on saving a buck here and there when we could change big things and save TONS of cash???
  18. Joe1234 and Threeholer-I agree with you both. Yes we can fix those things around us that we have control over and yes it's bullshit to hide behind the culture argument. I actually liked the fact that General Welsh gave MAJCOM CCs the ability to make their own decision about blues Monday, I just didn't like the fact that it took so long for them to pull the trigger on it. These are some of the strangest times the AF has gone through in my 16 yrs and I hope during these times the CSAF and CMSAF make some real tangible common sense changes. I will say that some of what I hear from CMSgt Cody scares me because he reverts to the "it may be too hard to change argument" which I despise. I wish he realized that he is the top dog of the enlisted force and that HE can makes things happen. Shit, I have 20 things I would change immediately given the chance, I sure hope he had a list when he stepped into that office.
  19. The interview is tough to watch. The OSI agent really buttered the LtCol up before reading him his rights, smooth move fellas. Who knows what happened, I just hope that if he is innocent, I thank god LtGen Franklin did the right thing by overturning this decision. He said she said is so tough when there is obviously no physical evidence and a possible history of skeptical behavior from the alleged victim. This whole thing just makes me feel dirty. With the on-going scandal at Lackland AFB, I think this man was caught up more in the attitude that we need to do something about sexual assaults, rather than seeking justice. Just my opinion.
  20. Would be if you had to "Like" it to ask the question. Not in this case.
  21. Just asked on their official Facebook page and they said they NO, and they are currently working to confirm their 2013 schedule.
