  4. Using a guy/gal that retires at 20 years with the high 3 years consisting of 2 years as a LtCol and one year as a Major vs 3 years as a LtCol. (O-5 pay)$8,422.20 + $8,422.20 + (O-4 pay)$7,356.60 = $24,201/3 = $8,067/2 = $4,033.50 (50% of base pay) (O-5 pay)$8,422.20/2 = $4,211.10 (50% of base pay) OK obviously not a math major or an expert on the Top-3 retirement sysytem, yet, but it looks like only a difference of $177.60.   6. Just speaking to the squadron level. I was reiterating TC's logic about how we promote people and the boxes they need to check, waypoints in his article, and how this cookie cutter approach is not always effective. I have been around a long time, I know how the AF works, doesn't mean that we can't address these issues and evolve. If things are not working, change them.
  7. I am only talking about what I know. Tanker world. Just saying that sometimes we could use an experienced commander, not a rookie like we get every time. Again, I was only talking about the tanker world because that's the lane I am in.
  8. I have often posed the question why an Air Refueling Squadron always had to get a first time commander? I already knew the answer and I already knew that's just the next progression waypoint that TC points out in his article. Again, I will say that careerism is the AF's #1 problem. We care more about promoting people than we do about promoting the right people, at the right time.

  12. I really want to believe in our leaders when they say we will have to do less with less, but we all know that you and I will get the job done no matter what. This reduction plan can and should be done smartly, I just don't see it happening. Please prove me wrong Big Blue!
  13. It's crazy to me that instead of informing only the eligible personnel, we instead make over 300K personnel wonder if it's their time over Christmas and New Years. I have a skeleton deep in the closet and it sure as shit made me worry. Too many questions left unanswered. This rollout was ALMOST as bad as online Obamacare.
  14. That's bullshit. ^^^^^^^^^^ Sq/cc briefed today EPR Quotas were coming in 2014. Only 5% get 5's, 20% 4's, and 75% for the rest. All EPR's will closeout on the same day as well. FML

  16. Had the pleasure of refueling the JSF today. Cool plane, but I also learned what "Cold Iron" meant a couple of times this week too.
