Excellent info JS. Thanks for the reply. Much appreciated. I have a hard time motivating myself to accomplish this course. I do have the first two required modules complete and am eligible to apply to this for a June class date. However, I would have to wait around for over 7 months to continue ACSC at that point. I would rather get paid and be in an environment where I am forced to knock out modules I.e. more motivating, however, I could complete a good chunk of this course in the next 7 months. As far as the 2 week seminar goes, how much is involved (how busy) is the course. More listening to guest speakers etc? Cheers, Chris

Anyone attend the ACSC-ARCS course (for Reserve/Guard) i.e. 2 week seminar at Maxwell? If so, any words on this course? Worth it etc.? Thanks

Related question, i'm a TR and have to go to a civilian opthamologist 1X per year for a small battery of specialized tests to renew a waiver (for annual physical). The tests usually run around $240 (my private insurance pays about 1/2). Should I be getting reimbursed for these tests etc.? Thanks for any info

Speaking from a front line perspective, I can vouch that this will decimate a unit. Over 50% of the IP cadre lost (retire, IMA, 1288). The selection process (in my mind) was done poorly and unfairly with noted favoritism (read ART vs TR). No IP candidates will now volunteer to go to school because of this threat looming till 2017 and beyond. With the increase in airline hiring, ALL TR IP's are currently employed with a major and are min running work at the base leaving very few ART IP's to handle upgrades/training requirements. What a mess

keep me posted. You'd be surprised at the waivers in force available. I have one for mild esophoria (history of red lens test failure albeit only during my initial FC1) determined to be congenital. They have monitored me for over 14 years and with no further issues.

Did you fail the red lens test? If so, could you describe the failure?

Yep, been using it for years, excellent stuff. Ironic how it is run by ex-mil etc. and not endorsed/affiliated to any mil org.

it just boggles my mind why "somebody" (i.e. comm maybe?) can't put out some sort of gouge, continuity info, etc to address all these common issues rather than have people spend countless hours troubleshooting.
-
forgive my ignorance, but couldn't you just drop this pile of shit (CAC card, personal computer, etc.) off at comm and have them unf$$$ it?? i've always wanted to try that option. It seems like every 2 mo., some new security change comes out, and I'm subsequently unable to access email, AF portal, AROWS, DTS etc. Any more, you need to be an IT professional to operate this shit.

suggestions with choosing which unit to join?

Except, in 6-9 years, fighter pilots will be non-existent.... -
Once you are called in for an interview, you have time (1-3 weeks) to prep. This is the time you renew your 2 year old expired medical. It's all a joke anyway.

Just to clarify MountainHerc, is that sandals in the DFAC w/ straps or is that standard Ocean Pacific flip flops. Back in the day, this was an issue. Thanks
-
Thanks for all the info. Haven't been over in awhile and I know it changes yearly. Back in 04 it was civvies allowed but no cargo shorts in the chow hall (excuse me "DFAC") and you couldn't wear strap-less sandals in the mess. I took some 550 cord and "made" a strap for my flops
-
Question for anyone at the Deid: what's the current intel on dress code, civilian clothes, civvies in the chow hall?, strap-less sandals in the chow hall? that kind of the nonsense. Thanks for any info.

Is ACSC doable on a 4 mo deployment? Or are you busting balls to get it done in that timeframe?
