  1. Cool. So let’s get this straight. Wendy thinks mandatory vaccination equates to an unlawful order. Any reason her logic wouldn’t work for any other vaccine? Do troops get to turn down the flu vaccine now? MMR? Smallpox, etc? Is turning one of these vaccines down all an airman would have to do to become non deployable? Who then picks up the slack? Will it be up to commanders to determine who is able to be deployed where? I wonder what other orders Wendy would find to be “unlawful”. She sounds like a lot of the millennials I keep hearing about. Wants her way, devoid of consequences, and is willing to stomp her feet really really loud to get it.
  2. Must be the fluoride in the water that emasculated ‘em. If there’s one thing I can’t stand it’s all these fucking hipster Karen scientists. Amirite?
  3. What’s this “Tony Stark” hotel in JFK? Are you telling me Atlas finally left the Five Clowns….I mean Towns? Holy Sheeiiitte. I may have just lost a couple bets. 🤣
  4. Seemed like an awfully long response time for CFR.
  5. Don’t disagree. Just wanted to highlight the dialogue between Maher and Shapiro as something refreshing. Two people on opposite sides of the ideological spectrum can have a rational conversation, recognize that an issue has nuance, and even discover there are details they can agree on even if they disagree on the larger issue.
  6. Agree that you guys deserve better. I did a stint there prior to my current gig & enjoyed the hell out of it. Really eclectic & interesting mix of folks (might be a turn off for some, but I enjoyed the “personalities”), exciting flying, and some memorable layovers. But LONG overdue for a contract. Hopefully the company realizes that if it doesn’t want to be a type rating mill it needs to make some BIG improvements to QOL for pilots.
  7. Going to leave this clip here: I’m not exactly a fan of Shapiro but I think he makes his case quite well here. Nance does not do much to make his own case here and I have to say I find myself much more closely aligned to Maher’s stance here. But I really want to present this as an example of how to have a respectful discourse without resorting to hyperbole and emotion (at least on Maher’s and Shapiro’s part). I give Shapiro credit here for being calm and logical and I wish we had more people on both sides willing to have rational discussions like this (again, disregarding Nance’s poor performance here).
  8. Suggest anyone here who is interested in China’s recent rise and what it’s future holds watch the four part “China’s Reckoning” series on the Polymatter YouTube channel. China is facing serious issues, and while it’s meteoric rise to major world power status is concerning, it hardly enjoys economic hegemony on the world stage.
  9. Well, over 90% of the UAL pilot group is already vaccinated after being offered a few hours of extra pay to get it. I suspect that population is much like the one here in that it has more than it’s fair share of vaccine skeptics. Apparently, a good chunk of the skeptics were willing to put their very strong feelings and concerns aside for a few extra bucks. I’m sure there will be some holdouts in the remaining 10% who refuse. I’m sure Transair or NAC would happily hire them after UAL lets them go. Also, I hear we are critically short of truck drivers. So, yeah, they have a choice.
  10. Nope. Wrong again: https://www.theatlantic.com/science/archive/2021/07/unsolicited-seeds-china-brushing/619417/ Long read but a somewhat fascinating story. Nothing close to “agrowarfare”.
  11. Alex Jones, this guy, is a national treasure? Mmmmkay I suppose you believe the moon landings were faked, chemtrails are real, Hillary is a child molester, and that the USAF is dropping “gay bombs” on enemies and, more importantly, it’s own troops. Gotcha.
  12. Bwwaaahhaaahaaahhaaaa!!!! I guess we know you’re a troll now. Thanks for coming out of the closet.
  13. I disagree (surprise). I wish you the best but I don’t think you’re going to win this one.
  14. I think you’ll find the UCMJ supports your commanders’ decisions to ensure your vaccination record is current and complete. Can you imagine the pandemonium that would result if individual service members were allowed to pick and choose what mobility requirements applied to them?
  15. I think most of us fully realized when we signed up to serve that many of the rights we enjoyed as civilians were either shelved or significantly limited. Sorry you didn’t get the memo.

Looks like a setup you might’ve seen on the old Top Gear. Give the guy in the trailer a paintball gun with the objective of blacking out competitors’ visors/windshields. I’d pay to watch (that’s what your mother said last night Trebek!).
  17. Who is 100% good forcing a vaccine on anyone? Honest question. There are a lot of us that believe the only way out of this pandemic on anything resembling an acceptable timeline is through mass vaccination. Doesn’t mean I’m for government mandated vaccines. Military is a different story. As mentioned by an earlier poster, regardless of any efficacy argument, if I’m senior leadership I want my military population as close to 100% vaccinated if only for the simple fact that it will make global deployment and travel that much easier. What I absolutely do support is any employer’s right to require their workers to be vaccinated. That is backed up by the law and a completely different animal than government mandated jabs.
  18. Feature Article: Long-term Side Effects of COVID-19 Vaccine? What We Know. https://www.chop.edu/news/long-term-side-effects-covid-19-vaccine Interesting quote from the article: According to the Center for Countering Digital Hate, professional anti-vaccine activists organized a meeting in the fall of 2020 to create messaging that would decrease acceptance of COVID-19 vaccines once available. These organized efforts aim to move people to extreme positions about vaccines — that is to say, from having legitimate questions about vaccines to becoming “anti-vaccine,” refusing all vaccines and believing conspiracy theories and false narratives. In some cases, individuals in these groups do not believe the science, and in other cases, they are seeking to profit from this hesitancy by encouraging the use of other products to “protect” against COVID-19.
  19. For those still unclear on how mRNA vaccines work, here is a well done video that’s easy to follow: FWIW mRNA is the future of vaccination and may help humanity tackle everything from AIDS to the common cold. Will the pharmaceuticals make billions as a result? Probably. That doesn’t negate the fact that these vaccines are safe and effective. Besides, I thought we were all about the free market in this country.
  20. Can you please elaborate on how the government is using “violence on its own citizens” to force a drug? As far as I’m aware, the government has stated that federal employees can either get the vaccine or agree to be tested regularly. If they don’t like those terms, they are free to look for another job. No violence necessary.
  21. Nope: https://www.webmd.com/lung/news/20210719/covid-19-vaccines-not-gene-therapy https://www.genomicseducation.hee.nhs.uk/blog/why-mrna-vaccines-arent-gene-therapies/ Also, your statement that MRNA vaccines “killed all animals during a trial” is patently false as well: https://www.reuters.com/article/uk-factcheck-mice/fact-check-a-2012-study-did-not-use-mrna-vaccines-or-result-in-animals-dying-from-disease-idUSKBN2A22UW Finally, as others have stated, your decision to join the military means you have effectively given up your right to decide what vaccinations you get.
  22. Government violence? its a shot, not waterboarding. I know needles are big and scary and everything, but maybe if you're really good and don't throw a tantrum, the nice A1C will let you pick out a lollypop after she jabs you.

As a counter to the Simone Biles quitting discussion, I propose this thread where we can celebrate triumphs free of any political side discussions. Just watched swimmers Caleb Dressel and Bobby Finke absolutely kill it in the 50 free and 1500 free respectively. What a couple of absolute champions! Finke came back from third place to absolutely dominate the last 50 meters of the 1500 which is a truly grueling event. ‘Murcia! 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
