Leadership at the 'Deid
1. He's an airman so that phone is likely a hefty investment (percentage-wise) on his part 2. Sending an e-mail out takes all of a few minutes and taping it up everywhere you go takes mere seconds 3. Just because people are dying in battle doesn't mean other things stop/don't matter.

Radio etiquette
I would agree with you 98% of the time, but when you've had 5+ radio calls telling you to expect a climb in X minutes, stating what you are CURRENTLY doing can provide SA to the controller and others around you.

3487 Attack Taiwan 4576 8903
A similar voice message was broadcast on September 12, 2002, but with extreme distortion (possibly as a result of the source being too close to the microphone head) that rendered comprehension very difficult. This second voice broadcast has been partially translated as "UVB-76, UVB-76. 62691 Izafet 3693 8270." Interesting coincidence (or maybe not?) that the layout of the messages are the same

Wichita Falls Shooting
Well, that makes sense for a white supremacist. The only two people who died were white (shooter and bouncer)...[/sarcasm] In all seriousness though, thoughts & prayers to the AF folks who were assaulted in this unprovoked attack.

Why do we have to identify people this extreme by "right" or "left"? Can't we just call them what they are: crazed, deranged idiots?

Well-played, SNAP. well played Let's be kind to the old-timer here. My dad flew BUFFs too and they didn't have callsigns (it was more of a TAC thing!). While I appreciate the lineage, callsigns are fun and have become part of the BUFF culture and the Air Force as a whole (especially those in/attached/related to flying squadrons...even our intel troops earn their callsigns). I say embrace it and have fun with it. The only thing that is constant with respect to tradition is change.- Classic thread - Good puke stories
