  1. Just trying some of the new to me features on baseops

  2. Don't expect the AD-Lite flavor to be strictly a Reserves phenomenon. YMMV, but it is creeping into the State-funded Flying Clubs as well.
  3. The great thing about hurricanes.....they can't sneak up on you. :) I've lived in Florida for 22 years, just stock up on stuff as needed. The room full of guns & ammo, well, that's just cuz I like to make shit go boom, lol. For you dust-bowler types, best of luck to ya. Tornados ain't my cup of tea.
  4. Slots are good. Especially when you highly consider the number of slots you have available. Lol
  5. Nope. All of our Temp AGR's have been converted to Full Time status. Myself included. :)
  6. A friend just transferred in there a few months back. Didn't know what to tell him other than we are praying for them and their families. Godspeed, good work bros.
  7. Amen to that. Edit: had a link to Bug's Prayer then saw it was already posted.
  8. Re-read where it says "Viper: Retired." ;)

Seems to be the standard for his movies.
  10. "2." Reminded me of the old Fighter Fling and Cruise videos my step-dad used to show me when he was in the Navy.
  11. Confirmed. http://m.aopa.org/aircraft/articles/2012/120503hawker-beechcraft-files-for-bankruptcy.html?WT.mc_id=120504epilot&WT.mc_sect=gan Hawker Beechcraft files for bankruptcy By Jim Moore Hawker Beechcraft filed for federal bankruptcy protection May 3, simultaneously announcing plans to continue operation under new ownership. The Wichita, Kan., aircraft maker entered a “pre-arranged” bankruptcy proceeding, with agreements in place to exchange debt—the company owes about $2.5 billion, according to recent filings and a news release—for equity in the company. The legal maneuver essentially promises to transfer ownership from Goldman Sachs Capital Partners and Onex, which bought Raytheon Aircraft Co. from the Raytheon Company in 2007, and then renamed the company Hawker Beechcraft. The deal remains subject to court review and closing agreements. CEO Robert “Steve” Miller, a corporate turnaround specialist hired in February, issued written statements in conjunction with the company’s announcement of a $400 million debtor in possession financing package that will allow Hawker Beechcraft to continue operating while the Chapter 11 process is under way. “We are pleased to have reached an agreement with our largest lenders and bondholders on a solution to stabilize and improve our capital structure,” Miller said in a news release. “In the last three years, the company has made aggressive transformational changes in all operational functions, and today’s announcement represents the next step forward.” The Chapter 11 bankruptcy petition was filed in the Southern District of New York, and provided few details of the future arrangements. The company stated operations will continue “without interruption,” and specifically that deposits and progress payments will remain secure, with all orders to be fulfilled. The $400 million loan package is enough to keep the company stable during the planned restructuring, which a majority of creditors have endorsed, the company said. “As we have worked to develop this long-term plan to recapitalize the company and strongly position Hawker Beechcraft for the future, our employees have continued to build the best airplanes in the world and provide our owners with the most comprehensive global customer support in the industry,” Miller said in the news release. “The protections provided by the U.S. Bankruptcy Code and the financing commitment we have obtained put Hawker Beechcraft in a great position to continue to do so throughout the restructuring process.” Hawker Beechcraft has been shedding payroll and struggling to stay afloat since the Great Recession struck in 2008. Most recently, company officials announced the elimination of 350 jobs in Wichita, following a November layoff of 300, and hundreds more before that. The company lost more than $630 million in 2011, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing in April that called into question the company’s ability to continue operation. The company said there would be no impact on research and development projects, such as the Hawker 400XPR jet, an update of the Hawker 400A and Beechjet 400A models. A spokesperson said the company name was not expected to change. edit to add story
  12. FWIW, in my unit there are more enlisted guys with graduate degrees than officers. Masters to make rank? Hardly. :)
  13. I was thinking the same thing. As soon as I saw that, I closed the page. Didn't even bother reading the obviously self serving mindless drivel that is on it. Edit: my dumb ass shouldn't drink and post.
  14. There is a Growler squadron TDY here at NAS Jax that has an AF Captain flying with them.
  15. No one said anything about closing it. But thanks for the advice. Let me put it in simple terms. I refi'd my house and accepted the card which was offered to me. I didn't apply for it. I really appreciate the advice Threeholer, but I'm not a kid fresh out of bootcamp. I know exactly what I am doing. The only reason that I shared was to highlight the nice treatment I received from Wells Fargo. And once again, since that card is used to fill the tanks on the plane, I found it funny that flying is contributing to my mortgage. My wife gets it, so that's all that matters to me. Have a super-swell day. I'm out. Edit to add: Butters gets it again.
  16. Negatron, only using it for the intro period. I dont carry a monthly balance. Just generating a little kickback on the principal is better than not. So, thanks. It works for me, but I'm disciplined when it comes to spending. Edit to add: Butters gets it.
  17. Recently got a Home Rebate Visa card from Wells Fargo when I refi'd the house. 0% introductory APR and 1% of my purchases goes toward the principal on my mortgage. Since I only use the card to pay for my avgas, it's a win- win for me. Go fly, and get a little kickback on the house. :)
  18. Ok, I don't know that one. I just thought it funny that you lol'd at my rambling. No disrespect. Seriously though, from an enlisted perspective, IMO, the Guard is better.
  19. I told you all that nerds got better grades. ;)
  20. You're right, that was a little over the top. Was drinking that night. How bout this, Steve wrote a good book. X infinity squared...........lol
