  1. Fuzz may be able to answer for certain, but I’m guessing it’s a high probability. The recent Wg/CC there was the Og/CC at McChord just a few short years ago.
  2. My, how things have changed since I left McChord.../sarcasm. Yet another prime example of why I hope to never return to AMC. Edit: Hope the new blood can get away from the ball and chain more.
  3. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion. When fewer fighters drop on the -38 side (like it is now), we tend to get more AFSOC planes than usual in drops. Who knows what it will look like by the time this kid goes through. Timing and luck...words to live by.
  4. And each program will end up with roughly the same proportion of AFSOC/MAF/CAF assignments on drop night, and that won’t change by the time you (the OP) go through pilot training.
  5. Currently the AFSOC community (CV-22s at least) wants -38 grads over T-1 guys (shh, don’t tell them that). Apparently they’ve washed out quite a few of them in CV-22 initial qual over the last year. Reason they prefer -38 grads is because of their greater exposure to tactical flying/mindset in their syllabi (both SUPT/ENJJPT). Edit: As to the OP’s comment about ENJJPT dudes being better pilots...the academy guys that get those slots are better at playing the game/checking the squares to be more competitive. They’ll make great HPOs one day, but definitely doesn’t translate into being a better stick and rudder pilot. Not a slight towards ENJJPT guys by any means, but the dudes who go -38s in SUPT earned their -38 slot by actually proving themselves in an airplane. Just food for thought. If you have the opportunity to go ENJJPT however, I’d take it.
  6. I’m guessing not a significant story. Drops they are a changing. Did you really think Oprah was gonna be able to hand out fighters forever?
  7. ^This. Exactly this. It was a threat that was made before anyone screwed the pooch. As to ClearedHot’s point, I also have no problem with setting the expectation to be an adult and do your job correctly. I would expect a leader to reiterate that fact. But, let’s not mince words or try to infer too much into what you think the OG said (especially since I stated exactly what he said)...the point of the post was purely to point out that he made an unwarranted threat before any foul play or shirking of responsibility had occurred. That’s not how you inspire trust in your subordinates or earn their respect.
  8. I’m gonna disagree with you on this one. When giving my buddy and three others their OG cert for IP, he threatened to downgrade them back to AC if they didn’t keep up with all the paperwork on local sorties. Not a bro...far from it in fact. My condolences to anyone that falls under the purview of his leadership.
  9. Wouldn’t hold your breath...joint spouse
  10. One interesting tidbit from that document was the statements about reducing the number of ALP and international student slots....’bout freaking time!!
  11. You should just go in-res. Be that guy that shows up day one, pretends like SOS is gay, and tells everyone you’re just there to have a good time, but secretly tries really really hard in a passive aggressive way to get DG.
  12. Ah, didn’t realize the CC got it 7 days in advance. And thanks for the lesson in basic math... Agree with Nunya...can’t imagine why a half decent CC wouldn’t let their people know ASAP once they found out...seems like a douche move to sit on news like that for no reason.
  13. Thread revival... Can anyone shed some recent light on this assignment? Hours per year, TDY locations, squadron life, general QOL, etc. Differences between MacDill/Hickam? (Don't care about the 89th). Currently an IP in white jets but was a C-17 IP before I left. Separate but related...if anyone has current gouge on the C-40 gig too, that would be cool. Just trying to figure out options for what's next. Thanks.
  14. Didn’t see in the original email where it said a 14 day opt instead of the normal 7 day opt? (Maybe I skimmed over it?) Either way, it’s one of the hidden land mines under this new system: ”providing as much as 11 months’ notice”...AFPC’s clever way to get you to show your cards that much sooner and bone you with a 180/365 as a parting gift.
  15. Meh. When I was at PIT the bomber functional came and spoke to us in the 560th (T-38s) and said they would start dropping to T-1s. That was over a year ago. Haven’t seen any bombers drop to CBM T-1 studs in the year I’ve been here and currently no rumors of it happening soon that I’m aware of. This rumor of the Buff potentially being a thing is news to me...like anything, I’ll believe it when I see it.
  16. Mardon’s customer service sucks, but they *used to* produce some of the better quality nametags out there, IMO. Not surprised they are under investigation. Rama World has great customer service, but their nametags look like some kid in Laos threw it together in about 69 seconds. Edit: Anyone know of a company that produces good, quality nametags that don’t look cheap (a la Mardon back in the day)?
  17. Were you born under a rock? Reference pages 1-102 of this thread. T-37/T-6 FAIPs from T-38s has been going on since the beginning of time.
  18. Had an old copilot in my former sqdn do that...drove his ACs nuts!
  19. Simply put, no. You and the clown show don't have a fucking clue. Why don't you visit an actual AMC squadron at a base of your choosing and try that "logic" again.
  20. Chang, once again, thanks for posting the same trash in two separate threads. "Thanks for your service".
  21. Love those snippets! I'm sold!! Where do I bend over and take it??!
  22. Just saw an official PSDM today (forget the number) via email soliciting eligible MAF dudes to crossflow to the CAF for FY18 training slots. (After the 11B functional told us at PIT several months back that this wouldn't happen?) Anyways...highlights, from what I can remember: - must have flown 38s in UPT - no Q2/Q3s in FEF - must be an AC in current MWS - 2 yrs TOS by I think Oct '17? - desired: 2009-13 yr group for fighters, 2011-13 yr group for bombers Seems like they're only taking 8 individuals that must go through some sort of selection process. 4 to fighters, 4 to bombers. Reached out to the POC via email and couldn't confirm what airframes/numbers of each, but confirmed the B-2 was off the table. Seems like a trial program if only taking 8 people...not gonna put a dent in the problem with those numbers. My hunch: 4 Buffs and 4 Vipers. Good luck to those interested. Seems like a big step back career-wise, especially for the older eligible year groups.
  23. Thanks for posting the exact same trash in two separate threads.
  24. Location wise (can't speak to the assignment specifics) - Arabian peninsula aka "armpit of the world". Hard pass. I've been to Botswana, and was pleasantly surprised. I'd take it any day of the week and twice on Sunday over Saudi...
  25. Good thing my commitment is up in 2022! Did they have anything else interesting to say about this projected shortage, or was that it?
