Commanders are dropping like flies this year

Gotta be big Air Force behind this. -
The airspace limitations alone would make this plan unfeasible. Would be an awesome place for UPT though!

I second the career impact for spouses. In fact the extra $100/mo doesn’t even come close. My wife has a Masters degree and is way more talented than I am. However moving every 3 years means she is pretty much starting over every PCS. I can’t even thing about how much money it has cost us to serve our country. I personally think single dudes should just be forced to live in the barracks, I mean since we are talking about what’s really best for the service right Mark1?

10 years ago, this would have worked even with the pay cut. All I am saying is that in this economy for pilots, the AF wants cheap fixes, and there ain’t none. There are ways to fix this thing, it’s just gonna cost some money, which the AF is too scared to lobby Congress to do, since this was truly all caused by the AF “management” in the first place and they would have to admit they made mistakes.

From what I know, this has been approved and will be showing up at a UPT base near you... Highlights from someone in the know: -The pay as of now is not competitive. ~$100K/yr and from what I saw was a fairly flat pay scale, little incentive to stick around. -Ideally looking for fresh separated guys/gals, but I personally don’t see how they are going to entice them away from going the Airline route. Maybe thinking people will sign up just so they can fly and not deal with AD/ARC BS? Tough sell with low pay in my opinion. -AETC/CC has completely championed this idea from what I was told and wants it implemented at all UPT bases eventually. -God help us.

Air Force to begin testing enlisted pilots

I thought I remember last years group being like 260ish a month, but maybe I am just not remembering correctly. -
Air Force to begin testing enlisted pilots

I am wondering why the promotion rate for Majors has slowed to 191 per month when we are supposedly jettisoning Majors for the Airlines at record pace. Could it be that Big Blue is expecting a backlog of O-4s due to an impending Stop-Loss? -
This, this, this. And then every single CSAF after him who didn’t immediately unfvck what he fvcked. I’m still trying to figure out how we still have the Schwartz PT test when everyone knew it was a lazy attempt at force shaping.
-
Meh whatever. I just don’t get why we do drop night like we do. Back when predators were dropping, God forbid someone didn’t act like it was their #1 choice of assignment. Also don’t be an @sshole.

Nothing better than getting kicked in the nuts and watching your childhood dreams fade away on stage in front of 400 strangers. At least it prepares those kids for the real AF.
-
Are bases allowing instructors to sit people down during stand ups? What happens if it hurts their feelings? It’s not like they are gonna wash out these days! Ugh.
-
Staff: “The reason guys are leaving is the huge pay gap between the Airlines and what we can pay!” General: “I have a great idea. Let’s widen the gap even more by making enlisted pilots!” *All others in room stand and applaud in unison* Just a scene from a play I am working on.

Once had a girl tell me anything can be a d!ldo if you are brave enough.

I can barely read, much less write a book. I have come to the conclusion that they no longer care about retention and are instead going to try and fix this by shoving $#it through the back end of the pipe. No STS.
-
When everyone is the tip of the spear, you realize you are fighting with a frisbee.
-
ClearedHot is right I’m afraid. The AF has given up on solving the retention issue. They will shove as many kids through the pipe that they can as fast as they can and stop-loss the older guys to train them and teach them. Since they don’t care about you or me and they own these UPT grads for the next decade, it gives them 10 years before they need to worry about the next crisis. And they will all be on the board of Lockheed and Boeing getting paid to solve the situation they were negligent to fix. They will never be held accountable, so it’s an easy decision. This is all a setup to soften Congress to the idea. That’s the reason for the voluntary return. “Well we tried...”
-
Another rumor to add to the pile, I’m hearing 11Fs will no long be going to T-38 PIT. T-38 White Jet tours will be open to anyone, with or without 38 experience in UPT. Obviously doesn’t apply to IFF... yet lol.
-
I don’t discriminate. It’s either value added or it isn’t. If it isn’t, we need to eliminate it no matter how small. This queep didn’t happen overnight, it was the result of small concessions over the past 70 years. I get what you are saying Danger, I just find it a cop out for the true problem behind all this.
-
Just wait till the 38s start dropping 90% of the preds again. That will fix the glitch.
-
So my question is, why are we doing certificates or anything like that for anyone? How does this make us a more effective and efficient fighting force. If my wife ever got a certificate of appreciation from the AF, I’m sure she would think to herself, “this is all great, but doesn’t erase all the times I have been treated like I don’t matter at all. I would rather they just focus on doing their primary job so my husband can come home at a decent hour every now and then.” I don’t know exactly what she would think, because I never ask her for her opinion anyways, but this is my best guess for what she would think.

Not sure if this is an ANG requirement or just my guard unit, but SOS was required for promotion to O-4.

1,000 Retired Pilots Can Be Recalled to Active Duty

3 kids for cyber, 2 Medical, 1 intel, 1 intel/pilot maybe?, 1 Special Tactics and only 1 with dedicated dreams of being a pilot. Oh and 1 who just wanted a free education. -

In other news, I have interviewed 10 candidates for USAFA (side job) and only two of them have any interest in being a pilot...
