  1. Word from the functionals is that it started after the 08 results came back from SecDef. So it will be this board. No school selects. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  2. Exactly. Talk about Fire, Aim, Ready. What a time to choose to do this after the release date has gone and passed. My guess is the board came back with a disproportionate amount of school slots for non-rated. In fact the word on the street is that the delay is due to coordination with PA on how to explain and sell this thing. GMAFB. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  3. TC, any idea on what's going on with the 08 Majors Board results? Rumors are something about stripping school selects/candidates off the board results. Seems strange this would happen within the last two weeks of the board being released causing them to push back the public release date. Could this possibly be in response to Capt Byrnes promotion article that you shared? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  4. Has anyone on this forum seen the list? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  5. So the only thing we know for sure is that nobody knows what's going on. Standard AF. Lol Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  6. I say keep it up. Thanks for being a voice for those that have been told for so long "you volunteered", as if by volunteering I waived my ability to use common sense. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  7. Both the bomber and a couple MAF functional are saying this week, so we will see. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  8. I thought the PT program was bullshit. But then again I am a fatty who only scores in the 80s. No wasted effort here! Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  9. So does that mean Tuesday July 11 isn't happening? AFPC has been lost comm since 30 June. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  10. Yeah. Our wing does the day before public release. Some other wings will notify the Friday before. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  11. Probably unpopular opinion here, but here goes. In a typical UPT class there are the top sticks who are easily identifiable, the anchors or the class who again are easily identifiable by everyone (and they know who they are), and then there is the center of Mass (around 75-80%). These middle of the bell curve guys could end up flying fighters or end up in an AWACS or Tanker or whatever else. Having been a flight commander at UPT, it's tough watching those middle guys go up on assignment night knowing their dreams are about to be crushed and they have no idea. I wish we would be more transparent about the MASS and make it public. Post the list maybe once a week and definitely let the studs know before assignment night. If they know they are 15/20 (ENJJPT) then they know it may go either way. But #18 knows it's gonna take a miracle. Less heartbreak in public in front of 300+ people and strangers. Always thought it was ironic back in 09-11 when we dropped guys Preds and told them to act professionally while crushing them in public with no foreknowledge. Some may disagree, but coming from a class with a ton of Preds, it hurt to watch guys get blindsided like that. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  12. If Tuesday is true, the Wings should get the lists tomorrow right? The old Wing Exec said he thought it was typically the Friday before Public Release. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  13. Simmer down now fellas. Seems like once a month everyone gets all keyboard warrior and starts measuring manhood. There are positives in most communities, no one has the market cornered for coolest job in the Air Force and UPT studs don't know what they want. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  14. Now we know where all those missing climate surveys were. Someone must have been close to finding out so the AF blew up the building to avoid answering the difficult questions. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  15. The results are probably buried wherever those lost Air force climate surveys are... Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  16. I have heard no words and mypers hasn't been updated since end of June. Anyone else gotten any intel? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  17. Ha ha. I figured. Best of luck. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  18. I think the new C-5M still holds the time to climb record and it has 4 jet engines. I can probably talk to your UPT flight Commander if you want... Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  19. I remember being at my first drop at ENJJPT 10 years ago as a bright eyed casual awaiting pilot training and watching a grown man cry in stage because he really wanted to fly C models and got a Viper. Fast forward 6 months later and half the class was getting predators. It's all about perspective.
  20. Yep...and I'll be the asshole who says the unpalatable truth: upt studs are likely getting the long rehearsed BGC version from the few fighter pilots who are at UPT because they got "screwed." Things are much different than 5+ years ago, the fighter community cannot afford to send all but the lower performers to an ALFA tour (certainly not the case when I went through). And that's the pool of IPs studs are forming their opinions from/on. I only hope there are enough older reservists around who don't fall into this category, but I have a feeling that's not the case/they're part time, so exposure is limited with those guys. Caveat: I realize this is a general statement, not saying every single dude falls in this category, but you're lying to yourself if you don't think most fall into it, for the current time period at least. You are exactly right and on the flip side AMC is non-voling guys who didn't want to leave, thus filling studs heads with an overly optimistic view of heavy life. From my point most reservists are simply finishing up their 20 or planning their exit. UPT has changed drastically in the last 4 years. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  21. Agree to disagree. But for you chitlins out there, just make the best and see the positives in whichever community the AF assignment roulette places you. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  22. Not sure that many graduated from IFF. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  23. We had a case a couple years ago where there were guys at ENJJPT decided they didn't want fighters but were non-vol'd to F-16s. No one wins in that fight. Air Force or the stud. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  24. Don't be surprised if they send someone out to your house to survey the damage and assess value. I had that happen on my last move. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  25. I don't follow this either. Dopma in 1980 drives up or out, not the AF. Continuation/non-voluntary separation is not chosen at the promotion board but actually a separate (even though they run back to back and w/the same members I believe) Continuation board which decides who to offer continuation to based on SECAF guidance and desired end strength numbers. By masking IPZ/APZ all that really changes is passed over people won't be discriminated against at the board. Twice passed over = continuation or non continuation. Once someone accepts continuation they would still meet promotion boards APZ (masked) but not continuation boards since they have already been continued to 20/24, etc. I am pretty sure this is how this would work based on digging through the stupid promotion AFI.
