So I'm here at San Antonio for about another 6 weeks for school and then on to Kirtland for a really long time for another school. Am I able to purchase a gun being from out of state? Also, where is a good place to go blast through some ammo (rental) here in San Antonio.

All FE's are one big happy family now. Only way a non prior gets into FE school is to have a pilot ticket. The recruiter probably won't even talk to him if he mentions wanting only one job. The ball is definitely in the AF's court these days.

Just found out yesterday that GA allows 1 tax exempt vehicle per family for military members.

I think the AF changed the wording on the 7 day policy. If you decline PCS/PME/TDY, you will seperate within 7 months of declining the request.

PCS'ng to the 41st RQS at Moody from Lakenheath Want to get the boy home to hang out with grandparents while the wife and I house hunt and what not. Have been told three different things now today on available options. Bottom line question is will the govt reimburse me what it would have cost them to get my wife and kid to next duty station and I pay the differnce for their requested travel? The three options presented to me was 1. Direct travel to next duty station (Moody) 2. Travel to port where car is shipped (Atlanta) 3. Travel to port of entry for duty station (Moody according to TMO lady)

Was TDY to Guam a while back and it just happened to be the Marine Corps birthday. The "strip" was jam packed full of Marines in their dress uniforms.

My wife speaks fluent Cantonese so that wasn't an issue. We mostly stuck with the guide for most of the time, not normally how we do it either but our guide was pretty good.

We did a 7 city tour a few years back out of Okinawa. Had a blast. Didn't have any issues what so ever with the VISA.

On most of the test flight videos I have seen, they rarely raise the gear for the first flight.

Need a bandwagon emoticon :) The switch back to MXG control over maint was supposed to allow us to fix the jets right all while giving OPS what they need to train/fight. Looks good on paper but the reality of it is the worker bees get f'ed over even harder and OPS are flying with ineffective jets which only doubles the load on maint in the long run. We need to switch back over to OPS control. At least under OPS control you only had to listen to one guy preaching the canned line that "safety comes first" while at the same time reducing turn times and manning. Now they have to listen to OPS & MX preaching it.

The "truth" comes and goes in cycles in the maint world. I have been in since 98 and have been a fighter crew chief on the line my whole career. MC rates are such a joke and reflect very little on the true status of each jet. You guys have to get your sorties somehow and if the jet is broke, it WILL be "fixed" enough to get a sortie out of it. What kind of sortie you get out of the jet is a different matter. Anyone on Kadena from 04-06 should know all about PMC jets. Ever heard of Code 3 flyable? Me neither until our FMC rate was in the low teens on a nightly basis. We (OPs and MX) shoot ourselves in the foot each and every year by making the the sortie/hours goal each year. Each year we make it, our thanks is an increase to next years rates and a decrease in manning, parts, funds, and increasingly assinine policies. Its been a long 11 years and I thank buddha every day now that I'm crossing over to the ops side. At least it will be a different kind of suck.

Was the aircraft "chalk" job a one off for the flight or is that for the duration of the deployment. Asking because my 15c was the first true C model to reach 7,000 hours and we had one of our chiefs do a damn fine eagle chalk job on the nose but as soon as leadership saw it, we had to spray it down.

Ditto It's not like hundreds of people don't die every day waiting for some type of organ in the States. He was damned if he didn't but stood a fighting chance if he did it.
