We have the benefit of knowing they collided with an airliner so it kind of taints the discussion. Talking to a bunch of the 1st heli alumni they said 50' over the river was pretty common. Crazy procedural setup.

Not many un-charted obstacles in that area I'm guessing. Whats the greater threat? In my experience, one off one on is probably a better option. I don't have any personal experience in that airspace so I'm spitballing.

Agreed. If they were both using NVGs in that area....asinine
  4. 9.4.3.7. Neckwear. The wear of scarves will be addressed by MAJCOM supplements. When authorized, scarves will be worn around the neck and tucked in. Only MAJCOM with halfway current version says: 9.4.3.7.1. (Added-AMC) Neckwear. Installation commanders may authorize wear of distinctive scarves by individual units. All scarves must be in good taste and standardized throughout the installation. Scarves will not be worn in the aircraft or in situations where wear is impractical or inappropriate
  5. Need a class 2 for potential job. AME initially said I was good to go but then FAA said I'll need waiver (SI) for my eye issue. Had waiver for it in the AF for last 8 years flying. Documentation showing its stable not progressing and not requiring any treatment or meds. I've seen anywhere from a couple weeks to many months. Anyone have experience with the process lately? Currently waiting on a LETTER from FAA to start the process. Also, the new color vision test is a bitch.
  6. Thing was cooking. Got very lucky with it hitting the water where it did. Have been in that area many times and it's very crowded.
  7. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DFyffoFycnT/?igsh=YzlndWNrNHE2Mmw2 well played internet
  8. Flew their dicks off
  9. I would imagine something is cooking. Can't go off half cocked. Not Trumps style....
  10. One of my better purchases pre 737 debacle. Down 51.7% to be exact 🙂
  11. I'm just impressed you haven't slipped up over the years. Impressive.
  12. I'm not sure why anyone responds

The bodys natural response ONLY comes into play during actual fight of flight situations. They have shown it only occurs in very high stress situations. Don't want any confusion out there. Wear your ear pro :).
  14. Hard pass. How can this be a good thing.
  15. Yeah, I also think thats the strategy employed here but also agree that the good ones are going to leave.
  16. I'm pretty impressed with the fidelity cash mgmt account. Having everything in one place now and not having to have transfers from old bank is pretty nice. Additionally, with the change I've somehow got a individual person I can talk to with any specific questions instead of some random USAA rep. Making money off of checking is a welcome addition as well.
  17. Wild. They butt fuck the entire F-35 system to get the B model fielded and then end up backing off it in the end.
  18. I understand why there hasn't been any media coverage on that statement but why hasn't the Trump office made any waves on it? Maybe I missed it but thats a pretty giant admission to make on the record on video and there hasn't been any coverage or pushback that I've seen.

Lots of good stuff in there but I've found (like anything) there isn't a giant question mark on some of the stats he quotes in the series. The physiological stuff can't be argued with though. Its pretty funny when you go out shooting with the buddies and throw in some mild physical movements into the mix and watch the heartbeat of the gun barrel.

Auditory exclusion is a thing that has been researched and validated from what I can read today. I remember reading about it in one of Grossman's books (I think). Essentially brain shuts down your ability to hear and even prevents the damaging effects in high stress situations such as fight or flight. Very interesting. Ripped from wiki: This is due to the increased blood flow in the eardrums that creates noise, causing the individual to lose hearing of the surrounding environment. This can manifest as a hissing or ringing in the individual's ears which consequently blocks out the noise around them. However, intentionally/voluntarily raising your heart rate to this level through exercise may not cause auditory exclusion. This is because the increase is not due to rapid hormonal changes that trigger the stress response, instead it is a gradual increase in heart rate as a result of exercise, i.e., it does not "shock" the body in the same way we do when encountering stressful situations.[8]
  21. Agreed. They are more than welcome to come up with better ways to get it done but the track record for the progressive side isn't quite spectacular. Also, they seem to be doubling down on going farther left of center based off the DNC elections.

    From what i've read. correct

All that stuff is still available. Just because it's not publically available doesn't mean its gone.
