  1. anyone ELSE? So, what you're telling us is your name is Kevin?
  2. Me too. I'm on the O-5 list and going through training to become an Intel Officer. I don't have an AGR yet, but I'm hoping to pick one up once I finish school. Where are you located? I'm looking at all the options in case a full time position doesn't open up.
  3. I think most of the discussion has revolved around what may or may not occur if the war starts. I don't think anyone here has advocated starting another war in the middle east; we've been there and done that long enough. I think most in the US military should also realize that Iran has the capacity to make a conflict extremely painful for everyone involved. I think most of those points were also made previously here
  4. FIFY and we don't even need to involve another nation. We are hard at work destroying the USAF from the inside right now.
  5. Add to that, our current "undisclosed location" in the middle east is within scud range. I could see an evacuation of "non-essential" personnel very early in any hostilities. Then, its MOP3 and the 3 beer a day cards go away.
  6. I don't hold it against the crew of the Memphis Bell or the guy who finished 100 over NVN. I know some guys in the second group. I admire that. The first question, as I read it was "Should I get out if it looks like we might get into a war" The crew of the Memphis Bell and the guys who went "Downtown" did their part. The question here was, can I get out of doing my part. I would go. That's what I trained for and I would take the opportunity, knowing that it would be a lot harder than anything since early Desert Storm. To be honest though, the active duty made that decision for me last year, so I won't be going anywhere, unless they need ANG Intel support. Then I'll pack my Combat PowerPoint and head over.
  7. Let me rephrase that for you. "I'm only in it for the benefits. If it gets hard, I'm out." I'm pretty sure that is what the B-17 crews in Europe and the guys contemplating another mission over Route Pack 6 were asking. [/sarcasm] Go ahead and go now while you still can. Please.
  8. I think the boom might get suspicious when he refuels a 4 ship, tail numbers 6901, 6902, 6903, and 6969.

I'll put in my 2 cents for Abilene. I was an exception in the B-1 community - I liked Abilene. I grew up in the southwest, so hot summers and mild winters are my idea of good weather. I never had to dig my car out in Abilene. There are a lot of churches, but there is no crime (its TX, everybody is armed). The people are very friendly and the city is very supportive of the military. They have the "Worlds largest BBQ" every year - military and their families eat free. Its at the Convention center and they fill the place up. There are restaurants. Not much in the way of Applebees (1) or Bennigans (0), but there are a lot of good local places (Joes Pizza is great!) Single guys don't like it because there aren't a lot of women. It is great if you have a family - housing is much more affordable than most of the country, and the prices have held relatively level. The Schools are good (I think Wylie schools were better than those in Colorado Springs). I've been gone too long to talk about flying, MX or ops tempo. If I could go back, I would. From what I know of SD, there is a naked lady behind every tree within 2 NM of the base, but they are both fat biker chicks. YMMV And as for the comparison to Clovis, and Altus - I've been there and Abilene has those two beat without question.
  10. So instead of a fight tank fight, it was a fight wait Bingo? Isn't that a normal sortie in the lawn dart?
  11. Is that stereotyping if we make them Red Air? Will they be GCI dependant? Standard loadout? They're going to simulate some fucked up loadout (wall to wall AA-8s) just to have an Eagle guy stand up and say "Thats not how you do that!"
  12. "I sure hope I get the chance to do some career broadening" "sometimes, when I'm flying, I wish I had someone to talk to."
  13. W of I25 in the Rockrimmon area. The maps show everything west of Centennial, but I've heard numerous reports of ash and embers falling as far away as East Colorado Springs/Powers. This is going to be a legit disaster area if something doesn't change quickly. All the hotels are full. My family will probably have to move out of town/state if our house is damaged - there are no other options.
  14. Traffic in the area is bumper to bumper. Ash and embers are falling all across the area south of the Academy. I'm hoping I still have a house when this is over.
  15. Sweet, that is 35 miles south of where I am now. Do I get Almost Remote credit?
  16. I bet SecState is calling Turkey right now to let them know they don't have a hair on their ass if they don't thump that SAM site. If that doesn't do it, she may escalate to the double dog dare.
  17. You forgot the classic... Gird your soldiers in belts of light, that they might be visible from every aspect. None shall smite they that glow.
  18. WOW, I feel much better knowing that I was one of the 157 dudes (and dudettes - I know at least one female in the crowd) who was holding the Air Force back. Now that we're gone, I'm sure things have improved measurably. If it is obvious now that their course of action was unsat, why did they do it? It seemed like a great idea at the time?
  19. Do a little research on an organization called Air Force TENCAP. They specialize in rapid, innovative technology for the warfighter.

Did a quick scan and didn't see this video posted. If it is, my apologies. Thought some of the regulars might find it interesting. https://luckypuppy.bravehost.com/FORUM/viewtopic.php?t=1452
  21. I'll pile on. Way back in the 90's, I had an Airman write down that I failed the depth perception test. It took work by an Air Force Ophthalmologist at the same base to submit a waiver request to DODMERB indicating that I passed all subsequent depth perception tests. I got to pilot training. It can be done.
  22. Thou shalt not disrespect the Saberliner! Kick that guy in the nuts.
  23. Holy Shit Butters, you never mentioned you were the President.
  24. Standing by for the "Not Posing with Enemy Body Parts" CBT with 15 sections and an associated classroom component. Maybe they can tie it in with the "Not contesting your Hooker bill in the hallway" CBT.
  25. I know a guy that went to UPT as a Major with Nav wings and a Weapons School Patch. He had a FAIP try to tell him that the US Flag went on that sleeve. Apparently, some of the squadron leadership corrected the Lt, but I would have loved to have seen the event.
