  1. Interesting...I remember being told the opposite (that the radar was capable of much higher resolution than our monochrome 80s display could show us).
  2. What I learned in my mobility job is that you only need a current PFT, not a passing one, to deploy. Of course, this can create real problems if you go somewhere you can't re-test and your OPR closes out while you are deployed.
  3. Every other week, eh? So, when can we expect some new numbers on overages by AFSC and year group? They can always move the deadline. Again.
  4. More, or less of a waste than making them the exec.
  5. Or, you know...the guy in the back seat...since the article repeatedly talks about the pilot doing things without consulting the NFO along for the ride, to include the decision to bail out and the decision to start the APU with the same accumulator that emergency extends the gear.
  6. Bingo. He says things like "stop doing stupid stuff because it's written down". Well, sir, with all due respect, who signs the regulations where these stupid things are written down? You want us to stop worrying about AADs until the Col boards...who has it in their power to take that particular piece of information away from the promotion boards? You want every officer to go to SOS in residence, with correspondence being reserved only for folks who have such punishing ops tempos that they can't get there from here...who has the power to restrict SOS to residence only?
  7. If only he had another crew member to help him with his decision matrix...
  8. Somewhat fair, but how about a blurb? A word from CSAF in a public forum that he is working on these? Maybe fire a few people. Maybe publicly direct AFPC to stop breaking fucking deadlines. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy we've eliminated blues Monday, we have morale patches and t-shirts back, and that he's making some attempts to make the USAF fun again. However, there are some big rocks out there, and while I get they'll take some time to move, some candor from the top about what he's tried, what the obstacles are, and what we can do to help would be nice.
  9. I'd prefer if he spent his time unfucking VSP, TERA, RIF, and the nuclear enterprise.
  10. They told us how Gucci the new CITS would be (that, for example, it would have common codes pre-programmed so you wouldn't have to type in a 20 digit alpha-numeric, that it would display 8 lines of data, etc). I'm not in the test squadron, so I haven't seen the new one yet, but I'll be a little disappointed if it really is just the same three lines we currently have.
  11. Never been enlisted, so correct me if I'm wrong...but isn't CCAF more "job related training" than most degree programs?
  12. Because talking on the radio is a real challenge?
  13. I saw that AFPC's latest timeline moved the goalposts for Officer VSP/TERA from 1 Apr to 30 Apr.
  14. This is what I constantly tell people at my local church who pray for more Christians in government, and for more "Christian" policies from lawmakers...Seems to me many of us have spent over a decade fighting against a group of people who thought their religious ideas should form the basis of their government.
  15. Manned, but can be flown as a UAV...where have I seen this concept before? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnExr0eA2Lk
  16. Can't say it bothers me at all. Just as I can't say it would bother me for a Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, or Wiccan to give the invocation. If your faith is so weak that it can't stand up to someone's expression of a different faith, you probably need to re-examine your own beliefs, not the legal jargon governing the work of chaplains. It's not that hard to stand quietly while someone offers a sincere prayer that THEY believe will help the person they are praying for.
  17. I'm sure neither the AF nor the Navy cares...after all, they are trying to get rid of a bunch of officers, right?
  18. If I thought AFPC were smart enough to plan ahead, I'd almost think they did this on purpose to buy more time without having to tell their bosses that they were delaying yet again.
  19. As long as you weren't gambling on AF computers, with your AF coworkers.
  20. They were available in a couple stores in Rapid City, but not widely available...you had to go looking for them.
  21. I cynically maintain that it is another attempt to cut costs without being viewed as cutting our pay and benefits. I wonder how much Rip-Its cost in relation to the locally-sourced camel milk and fruit juice?
  22. I guess it turns out I was ahead of the curve...they made me submit this during my last deployment in 2012.
  23. While the regulations permit you to be more restrictive, it's not mandatory. Not every rule needs an additional base or group supplement.
  24. Then say that at the beginning of the whole process, rather than tell the force that senior leadership wants to use voluntary measures before resorting to involuntary ones. Because this statement has point-blank forced AFPC to involuntarily separate those 415 pilots.
  25. Immediate promotion and Air War College in residence?
