  1. I about pissed my pants when I read this: ...said Jory Vandenburg, 435th ABW historian. “And as many well know, there are lots of flamingos in Florida.” No sh*t?! Thanks for the update Jeff Corwin...
  2. 1-Star Tapped to Lead Provisional Command
  3. This is war, not a f*cking tickle fight.
  4. It was formally announced in Oct at the CORONA this year. CORONA Thread I used to have copies of the manning/tasking briefings from the conference, but I deleted them a while back. Does anyone still have them?
  5. I just got contacts down here at LAFB and the rules for the program are pretty strict. I would get a list of the approved contacts either from Brooks or from some other flight med desk, then have a talk with your eye doc and get some. You should be good to go if you can wear the approved ones for at least six months before you start UPT. Flight med/optometry will be on your list of stops when you inprocess. Make sure you let flight med know that you want to get on the contact program and they'll schedule an appointment with one of the flight docs for you. Between your visits to flight med/optometry (and as long as you're not having any problems with the contacts) you should be golden. Just make sure you let them both know, and they'll take care of the rest. Oh, and wearing contacts for 12 hours a day won't f*ck up your eyes if they're not already terrible.
  6. Any chance she's a lesbot and doesn't want anything to do with him?
  7. I kind of feel like Will Smith from I, Robot on this one. Pretty sure I'm not going to trust them...
  8. We'll see. I'm an LSU fan and a Big 12 alum, so my hands are kind of tied (even though I'm not an OU fan at all).
  9. 2! And didn't we almost have an all Big 12 NC game?
  10. If you're going to volunteer for D&C, make sure you know your sh*t like the back of your hand. You need to be able to command your flight like you've been doing it for years. Also, make sure you know counter march. Your flight will eventually want to know how to do it, and if you can teach it to them so that they can retain it, your FTO will take notice in a good way.
  11. You could just say: "What do you mean he had a reflective belt on? I swear I didn't even see him!"
  12. Ha. Maybe he just bought it and was trying to stretch it out for future comfort?
  13. That's pretty much exactly what my plan of attack is going to be. I just got down to XL, so my energy levels are back up about flying again (after my six month "sit on my ass without a paycheck" tour. I've been hearing lots of things from various studs/IPs, so I just figured I'd ask. Thanks for the advice.
  14. This question was asked at the beginning of this thread in '04, but I wanted to get a current update and see if anything had changed: what are the chances now of a guy getting to go to Corpus for Phase III if he lets his IPs know from the start that he/she wants to fly -130s? From what I've read back in '04, your shots of getting a -130 were pretty decent if you stated your intentions early on (i.e. your IPs would work for you to get you that slot). Does this still hold in '08/'09?
  15. If you are a crosstowner, then the GPA that you have at your school will be the GPA that goes into the GPA section of your OM score. However, most CCs (at least as far as I have heard and experienced) will take your GPA into consideration for their CC's ranking, which means they will take into consideration the GPA that you have at your school + the GPA that you have earned in your AS classes. If you've done well in your AS classes, it should boost you "overall" GPA in your CC's eyes.
  16. Dude, why would you even want to risk it? And on another note, do you really want to be around these kind of guys when you're trying to grab a slot (STS)? I'm not telling you who you should be friends with and who you shouldn't, but if they're going to be doing this kind of sh*t on a regular basis, you should find another place to hang out. And as far as the previous conversations, I can say for a fact that I know someone that is very close to my heart that lied about their MJ use in HS and came clean about it in the middle of the AFROTC program. He/she was booted without a second glance. If you're just coming into the program, DO NOT LIE ABOUT IT! When I was contracted into scholarship my freshman year, our NCOs told us that admitting it then would not disqualify us from the program. But saying you didn't at the time, then admitting it later, will most assuredly get you knocked. That doesn't mean you should start toking up just because they don't piss test you in AFROTC.
  17. If this does happen, make sure you pay very close attention to the stuff they tell you when you first show up (i.e. fire exits, safety info, etc.). Those are usually on the tests and tend to get people.
  18. No, just trying to help a guy out.
  19. No. I stand by my first comment. The second post was concerning the fight to be the first poster on a new page.
  20. I can already see it: everyone's gonna sit back and cautiously make ridiculous (although hilarious) comments up until the 20th post. Then feeding frenzy. Now first post on the next page will be up to luck (kind of like UPT!!!). Fight's on!
  21. Is it? (heh heh...) EDIT: Damnit. Didn't go to page 4.
  22. Ok that's just downright hilarious! But how in the holy fvck did you stumble across that site?
  23. Well your status says you're one. Not that you're one in real life, but on here... And for the record, I have no problem with people getting a deserving flame for violating search/posting rules. Most of them need it. But this thread did neither. Just a guy asking for help. That's one of things this site used to be for.
