  1. Video games the night before aren't a bad idea, just don't stay up all night playing them. I rocked some Gears of War the night before I took my test and seemed to do pretty well on it. Not saying that there's a direct correlation, but head shots are great for hand-eye coordination.
  2. Hell yeah dude! Nice work. Can't wait to rock them up in CO.

    Hotelicopter

What in the blue fvck is the "Hotelicopter Trapeze School?"
  4. Is this the same asshole that said the KC-X and future bomber projects were being scrapped? Why are all these wang chungs getting away with letting their ridiculous rumurs leave the WH?
  5. I guess they found one more way to reinvent another wheel.
  6. Yeah, but you're also the only guy that doesn't have to polish his boots or iron his uniform, leaving more time for you to help your flightmates out, get DG, and become the next CSAF.
  7. No. From AFI 36-2903, Table 5.1: Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon (SAEMR): Award to Air Force personnel, including Reservists who, after 1 January 1963, qualify as "expert" with either the M16 rifle or issue handgun on the Air Force qualification course or the appropriate orientation course prescribed in AFIs, or who satisfactorily complete the Combat Rifle Program. (See note 7.) Note 7: Award ribbon only once no matter how many times an individual scores "expert." Add bronze service star to the ribbon for those personnel who, after 22 June 1972, meet the award criteria with both the M16 rifle and issue handgun. Add only one star regardless of the number of times a person qualifies with both weapons. Use AF Form 522, USAF Ground Weapons Training Data or letter from the Small Arms Marksmanship Monitor as the source document for this award.
  8. You don't get a ribbon for just qualifying. You have to score in the "Expert" category during your qualification.
  9. It is. They're out of the Westboro Baptist Church. 100LL, shack on what Vandal said. We used to have to put up with these fvckers on a regular basis at KU. Riddller knows all about this shit, too. It's not a pretty thing (sts) when they see people in uniform. I would also not be surprised if you all were told not to wear your uniforms on those protest dates (we did it once back when I was in school just to avoid conflict). It sucks that we had to do that, but it was a much better solution.

I wouldn't expect (or accept) anything less!
  11. I'm pretty sure you're right about this. I had 11 flight hours, and my score only went up one point. Had another buddy, though, that had a lower score than I did, but when he added his flight hours (which were about the same as mine), his score jumped up a few points. I think the flight hours get calculated in differently depending on how well you did on the AFOQT/TBAS. Of course, the formula is secret, so who the hell knows. But it does seem that this might be the case.

I think it's definitely worth a shot (in a manner of speaking). Go for it, and let us know. I was curious about it myself when I got the announcement last week.
  13. Those are the only two that you are authorized to wear right after you commission. You may want to check with your cadre about wearing them during your Oath of Office/pinning, though. We weren't allowed wear them at our ceremony. Once you pin, however, you can wear them. The only other award you'll be getting automatically afterwards is the GWOT medal, but you have to serve at least 30 consecutive days on active duty to qualify for it.
  14. Maybe the cat's a little high strung because you want to use it as a fvcking filter? Maybe? Anyway, this guy's a moron. Everyone knows that cats are gateway animals. Next thing you know he'll start start smoking dogs, or injecting alpacas. It's a terrible downward spiral.
  15. That's whay I was implying, but I guess it didn't come off that way. As for doing the first salute during the commissioning ceremony, I was unaware it had been going on for awhile. The military members in my family (and others that I met that day) that attended my commissioning were surprised that we "staged" our first salute. They were unaware that this practice was common. This is why I assumed that it had just recently been started in the past decade or so. Thanks for the correction. And I agree with you about the real silver dollar. I picked up two of them, and I think it means a lot more when they are the real thing, not a composite knock-off.
  16. Well, since the only time you really ever salute is in uniform, I would probably venture a "yes"... Tradition is that once you receive your first salute after your commissioning, you present that troop with a silver dollar, and let them know that it was your first (in a manner of speaking). Usually it would happen when you first pulled through the gates at your first base, but many detachments now have a ceremony at their commissioning that allows you to receive your first salute in front of everyone after you take your oath. It would still be customary to give this troop a silver dollar, but I would also get another one to give to your first "real, active duty" salute.
  17. Wow, I can't believe I switched those two up. Must have just been on a roll after reading "Happy Gilmore" on the post. "If peeing in your pants is cool, consider me STFU."
  18. I know. That's a quote from Happy Gilmore, as well.
  19. Okay. A simple "wrong" would have done just fine. STFU: take your nuts, punch them, repeat.
  20. She's wondering how this kind of stuff is "oozing out of our ground." I can't help but feel poor as shit with a comment like this. I don't have a lot of money, so I have to get water out of a faucet. Apparently the rich have an amazing new device that gets water directly from the ground! That definitely wasn't around 20 years ago!
  21. If any of you out there haven't seen it, you need to. I had no idea it was going to be that good. I spent most of the movie either smiling, trying to hold back tears, or both. It's really nice to finally see a movie written from this angle. For so long now we've seen all these movies and shows trying to condemn the US for going to war, but this movie is a breath of fresh air. No politics, no opinions. Very well done, and very respectful. I feel an incredible sense of pride to serve with people of this caliber.
  22. I think there's about six of them that we could combine now.
  23. I was the guy driving the bulldozer in Fernguly.
