Off base schools don't have the best reputation. If that's a problem for you then you might want to live on base. Many bros made the decision to live on base for the schools alone. I live in Kailua.. love it. Good luck finding a place in kailua though. I only found one decent place and it took me about 5 weeks. Most decent places will rent out the same day they are listed on craigslist.. sometimes sight unseen. Also be prepared to spend all your BAH and more to get want you want. The housing market here is ridiculous. Check craigslist daily when you arrive.

I think if you were the one being forced to spend a majority of your UPT ADSC in drones you wouldn't feel that way. Drones != UH-1

AFPC screwed up with the first batch of 18Xers and only gave them a 3 year ADSC. Many of them quit at the first chance. With 6 year ADSCs you'll see the rest of them get out sooner than the 11Xers who got non-vol'd after only 2 years in their first MWS and fly two back to back drone assignments. so yeah they are just as miserable.. if not more because they have no chance of escaping that grind unless they get picked up for UPT.

There are many opportunities in the Air Force to do things that are against your wishes. Just part of "serving." If you like Clovis, NM then that could be a big incentive to go AFSOC. Or you just don't want to drive 90 minutes to/from work everyday in Vegas.

It takes more than just logging time in a GCS to do the mission and take care of people.
