  1. Heard about the horrible news today that famous Warbird Pilot and Air Racer Howard Pardue died after his F8F crashed on takeoff. I remember his airplane from the time I was 5 years old going to AIrshows. His solo aerobatic routine to Phantom of the Opera was one of my favorite air show acts ever!
  2. Here's a few more from wayyyy back: And a one from Kandahar. At least the civilian terminal hasn't changed
  3. My yearbook is in another state but I'll see what I can dig up.
  4. Hmmm the girl in the Broncos shirt went to my high school.
  5. As an AC in the 17 (McChord 08-10) I would reference it going to non-standard locations (which didn't happen very often for me) but nonetheless I think it would be a good addition to the app. Even better would be integration of Jeppesen SDP and Ops Data if that were possible...
  6. I loved the helos fault detection system
  7. Perhaps it's just an incentive and not necessarily a requirement?
  8. No wonder this campaign was jacked up. That guy doesn't have a Masters Degree!
  9. True that. The first thing our WIC guy was tasked with when he came back was planning the wing formal ball. No thanks...
  10. Well hate to disappoint you but I am a "REAL" Air Force pilot and I did just use that line
  11. Sounds like a typical Air Force (We tell you what you CAN and CAN NOT do) vs. Navy mentality (We only tell you what you CAN NOT do) argument. Anyways, with the current Air Force mindset legends like Bob Hoover or Chuck Yeager would all have their wings clipped. Sad.
  12. Definitely upgrade the 105mm first then the Bofors 40mm
  13. I won't be bringing my Navion but I'll be there over the weekend.
  14. Big 2 on that one. I'm in AMC and I would say the vast majority of people I fly with have zero clue on what other airplanes are operating around us. Every mass "tactics" brief we have everyone is always baffled about the presence and capabilities of the EA-6B (just one of the latest examples). I bet 69% couldn't even identify an IL-76 or Mi-17 and we see those all the ######ing time. I think it has to do with the fact that if you're a pure Airland guy in AMC you don't need to have any clue about other aircraft aside from knowing the references on the tanker.
  15. WTFO That was the only good crew meal you could get at ETAR. I sincerely hope thats not true
  16. Boeing B-47 Stratojet for sure but that pic looks photoshopped to me. THe B-47 did have downward firing seats though
  17. Thread Revival: I was just at Oshkosh and saw that Jeppesen now offers their Jeppview service on the Ipad. Does the Air Force as a whole have the Jeppview account along the lines of the SDPs or do I need to convince my particular unit to buy a plan in order to use all the charts, plates, etc?
  18. Shit can the T-Clones unless they change their flight routine. It's been the same for ######ing ever and its boring.
  19. No my Dad did all mods when I was about 3 so I tried to "help" him by misplacing his tools around the hangar which I still find pretty hilarious. Yeah the Navion is a great airplane. My Dad taught me how to fly in this thing so its definitely my favorite
  20. Yeah thats thew one. I want to make it to Reno this year but we will see how the leave situation goes
  21. Our aircraft was originally a L-17 that was going to be sent to Korea but the war ended before it saw any action. It's modified to look like the Ryan Model 72 Navy Trainer which lost out to the T-34A.
  22. I'll be there with my Navion (L-17) in the Liason area on the Warbirds ramp. Drop by and say hello
  23. This whole episode reminded me of this
