nunya's comments are good. But would you like to know more?.... Red dot is target focused (your eyes) at all times. If you have trained your index correctly, it is much faster and more accurate. If you don't train your index, it's pretty easy to lose the dot. The larger windows are nicer to use, but it doesn't really make a performance difference assuming you don't lose the dot. If the back side of the reflex glass gets misted over, or a water drop in the wrong spot, it is possible that the dot will stop working (doesn't reflect correctly). That's where the various enclosed emitter dots come from. Actual suggestions: Setup your pistol with back up irons that co-witness in the lower 1/3 of the window. They're useful for finding the dot as you learn how to use the setup, and a backup if the glass gets foggy/misty. Practice the draw to presentation/index, A LOT.
  2. Probably. But I can't get away with running down the geriatric driver that's the 5th car to run the red light and slapping them for being a selfish asshole. So I'm torn.

My brother's dept dumped their 226s 10 or 15 years ago. Same story.
  4. Agreed. I also would like to see some sort of AI detection of dick bag drivers. Speeding cameras should only apply to crazy speeding. Going the speed limit is for suckers. Also, those limits are set knowing people will speed by 10mph.

No. I'll just say we got in a semantic argument past one another. I'll try to be clear: It appears that the P320's problems are bad enough that it is less safe than what was used in WW2. Let alone the M9. It remains to be seen what the actual problems are, all anyone really has at this point is educated guesses.

I knew what you meant. The series 70 drop fail requires you to drop it on the muzzle. It shoots the ground. I also think it's a reasonably low probability of happening. Otherwise, it's pretty safe at normal duty spring rates and trigger geometries. My competition guns are more questionable. The P320 should theoretically should be better, however the striker safety failure rate seems to be pretty high (no more 320 advantage over 1911). The slide to FCU play seems to be enough to allow the sear to release the striker in some cases, which inherently also skips the secondary notch. All of the analogous components in a 1911 are in the frame, with essentially no play. Side note: You can basically make a series 70 gun drop safe by using a titanium firing pin and an 2x extra power return spring. This is how Springfield made CA legal 1911s. You'll need to run a fairly heavy (23# or so) mainspring to make it work. I'm not sure you can actually buy a Series 80 anymore for what it's worth.

Your larger final point is fine and I agree, but your specific risk analysis of a 1911 vs the P320 is nonsense.

Between the accounts of cops and competitive shooters having discharges in holsters, and the way Sig has handled it. Fuck that gun

  13. CH, what do you have on this? Edit To Add: For anyone else who was busy doing other shit today: -Satellite imagery shows a shitload of trucks outside Fordow Thursday/Friday timeframe. -IAEA says no indication of increased radioactivity post strike at the various sites. -US officially can't confirm the whereabouts of the nuclear stockpile of 60% material. Take all that for whatever it's worth...

Shot it again, pulled the jank dot plate off and just went irons. 2 inches at 7 yards. So not great, but better than before.

Maybe. I haven't had the time to delve into it too much. When I shot it, I was just using the head box of a USPSA target at about 10 yards after a match. Probably a 4 inch group or so. The dot plate screws sit above the plate, so the dot mount is janky. ??? Beats me.

I'll mirror these comments. I put a Vortex CCW on mine. The dot is wider than the pistol. Mine is not accurate. At all. It'll suffice at close range, but a shooter it is not. Might be the dot mount I guess. I haven't trouble shot it yet. It flings the empty cases a really long way. Like comically far.
  22. That's that little dick energy.
  23. No correlation. I'm the best pilot I've ever flown with and I majored in engineering. But I've known fuzzy majors who weren't half bad too.
  24. Congrats dude. Hell of an achievement.
