  1. Shit. http://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/us-c-130-transport-plane-crashes-afghanistan-defense-officials-say
  2. Meh, with the thousand-and-one different versions of the Multicam uniform out there, I don't think anyone will notice if we just keep wearing them vs. shelling out the cash to pay for Multicam 2.0!
  3. Also, the amphibs are probably something the Navy would be more willing to put closer to the fight than carrier groups. Just a thought.
  4. DId the players with F-22 have supplemental Oxygen?
  5. What're the New Mexico rules on shipping booze in your HHG shipment? I'm looking to bring some stuff from Europe, but all the sites I've found just seem to address liquor licenses. Anybody recently PCS in who has some good guidance?
  6. Anyone who has used the S&W 40% off deal know if their shotguns are included? I thought it was a discount on everything, but the note at the top of this page made it seems like it was only on handguns and rifles. Figured I'd ask here before e-mailing the S&W folks. Thanks!
  7. Found a decent cigar shop on S. University across from UALR behind Pizza Hut. Big selection and they give military a discount if you ask.
  8. You gotta watch those towed underground sonar arrays, they can be tricky!
  9. British style plugs, transformer for stuff that isn't dual voltage (look on the plug/back to see if it has something along the lines of Input" 100-240v). The building I'm in has 4 washers and dryers, plus I think there's a few lundry buildings. You get briefed on GO1 when you get here, buuuuuut, if you bring something don't leave it sitting out in your room and an external hard drive isn't a bad idea. The food isn't all that bad, just repetitive, and there's a Taco Bell, pizza place, etc on the rock. The BX is pretty good, small, but they carry the right stuff. Overall, not a bad place to be.
  10. Looks like Whidbey has a new display plane. Glad they landed safely!
  11. Cheering for the Giants but this ain't exactly USA vs. USSR in Hockey. Pats by 21.
  12. Examples of what? If you need photos of the squadron leadership the wing photo shop usually has those on record. Call them up and order either prints or mounted on backing. Take their name down tho, as orders tend to be lost from time to time, but if you wrote down that SrA Joebob recieved your order on such and such a date, it usually turns up.
  13. Is Tom Cruise Left handed? B/C his sleeve pocket is on the wrong side.
  14. T-6 cross country and we had a group of 4 coming into SDF during their big UPS push requesting multiple instrument approaches each. Controller is starting to get edgy and tells us we probably won't get more than one to a full stop. First two guys get their wish for a second approach when our number three dude makes his request... "Louisville Approach, Ball XX, request ILS 17L, FU(K! 35R" Controller grants his request amid much laughter in background. We call up next and are told to expect the full stop. Once we're up on ground freq they give us a phone number to call, and we're expecting to get bitched out. Turns out it was their SUP apologizing for not being able to accommodate our request and next time if we come between this time and that time we could have as many approaches as needed. Overall cool bunch of guys there! Much consumed downtown that night too!
  15. Yet another of the many reasons to go HERCS. The T-44/TC-12 AIRNAV solo. Even though the typical spring gulf coast fog screwed us out of 4 hours flight time it was still cool to take the plane somewhere else without being evaluated the entire time.
  16. "Dead Bug" is the command of execution. When refering to it, it's the "Deceased Insect Game". A friend of mine who was an Intel Col back in the Regan days enlightened me on it. Basically while everyone was drinking someone would shout "DEAD BUG" and the last person to make it to the floor would buy drinks. Usually there was some question about who was last and the event would be repeated for several times throught the evening. Obviously there were many injuries related to suddenly hurling yourself backwards off a bar stool onto the floor, so the base commander took it upon himself to address this at the next Officers Call. So, in an auditorium of folks dressed in blues the General began with this statement "It's come to my attention that many of you have been injured in a drinking game called 'Dead Bug'...". The statement was never finished due to the fact that everyone had thrown themselves to the ground with their arms and legs in the air! Good times!
  17. Corpus 07-01 Drop (07-07) PC-12 Hurlburt Field C-130J Little Rock MC-130H Mildenhall C-130 Ramstein (Me!) EC-130 Davis-Monthan C-130 Little Rock C-130 Dyess
  18. Guys that track fixed wing in the coast guard go to NAS Corpus Christi just like all the other turboprop bubbas. P-3, CG, and AF all have the same training (E-2/C-2 are diferent) up until the end where everyone branches off into service specific stuff. They find out if they're going Falcon Jets or Hercs towards the end of their training.
  19. Gloves won't be an issue, just go to life support and ask for another pair, sign the form and viola, you speak French and have a new pair of gloves. As for flight suits, there more you have, the less laundry you gotta do.
  20. My junior year we had the dual grog... and our cadet wing king projectile vomited on a pool table due to excessive trips to the over 21 bowl. We were all proud and impressed at the distance and TOT, but sadly the cadre were not and banned the use of alcohol in further grog bowls.
  21. There's no IFT anymore. They've changed to the flight screening program which will be based in Pueblo, CO. Wish I could help ya more, but I did IFT and won't be of much more help. If you search around on the AETC website you might find the answers since they seem to modify it every week or so.
  22. www.proxy.org is free. It's how I access this from work
  23. LPA? Tried google, got Little Peoples Association... somehow I don't think that's it.
