  1. Like back when Herks were built? So I'm looking for AM freqs... I'll surf around and see what I can find.
  2. I heard that I can tune ESPN and other sports broadcasts on HF. Anyone got the freqs? It would sure shorten those 5.0s from Kadena to Zambo. [ 15. December 2006, 05:51: Message edited by: kenblankenship ]
  3. What really made it happen was the entire LPA coming together and making the LTCs and COLs know that we wanted it. There were lots of ups and downs, and in the end we were granted over $100k for the room construction and furniture. THE 36 AS HERITAGE/BAR WILL FREAKIN ROCK!! As far as popcorn machines, I got a pretty sweet Budweiser popcorn machine for us from http://www.esbuys.com/. They were extremely flexible with pricing and shipping considering we are in Japan. The machine I ordered is pictured here . Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet... PM me for details. Death to the disco belt!
  4. I understand your point about my 'free' time evaporating as time goes on... I'm hip deep in an online MBA right now, and you're exactly right. On one hand, I wish I would have started it sooner so I could have it done by now. But on the other hand, I value my time as a C-172 flying, no responsibility casual 2Lt. I guess the lesson there is we all have to pay the piper sometime. There are a few of my flying buddies who seem to think there is value in waiting for the 'perfect' time to start a degree... when they can take classes in residence for example. I'm not sure, but I don't know many people who have pulled that off while on AD flying status. But then again I'm a FNG.
  5. So... what's a relevant degree that I have time for? I would submit that most online degrees (which is what I have time for) are going to be watered down somewhat compared to any degree acquired in residence. As a flying Lt/Capt, the options for taking any in residence classes don't couple so well with the flying schedule. I knew a few guys in C-21s who could pull off an in residence degree considering the low deployment rate, but that doesn't apply to most MWS situations. My big question is this. Is the standard online MBA considered just checking the box/basket weaving? When my paperwork goes to the major's board, they can only see IF I have an advanced degree, not what that degree is in... right?
  6. The only thing I feel is pity. Imagine your job sucking SO HARD that all you can do is attempt to critique a site that helps out 1000s of people with REAL JOBS. Poor little fella... he's probably never made it out of the cube farm he grew up in.
  7. I know two UPT washout guys down at Pensacola right now... I wouldn't say they're everywhere, but they're out there.
  8. Good to know, but it still doesn't help the ever deploying flyer knock out that degree... sometimes you just have to make it work. Do what you can with what you've got. How many flyers out there had the time to do a "real" masters in residence at a reputable establishment? Maybe I'm missing something. I know a few non-rated buddies who are able to attend an actual school and get a little more exposure to their degree work. Good on 'em, wish I had the time/schedule to do that (and I know that as I continue to upgrade I'll have even less time). Old heads... am I wrong?
  9. The library and the Yujo are the two wireless buildings on Yokota. The Yujo is located between the Kanto Lodge and the Yokota Community Center (YCC)... you can walk the 2 blocks from the lodge to the Yujo and get some good food from the little restaraunt there.
  10. I got the military headset upgrade that Oregon Aero sells for $114 on eBay for $55... keep your eyes peeled. Paying half price ain't so bad.
  11. It was a 9.5 hr flight two weeks ago on the L1011 from Seattle to Yokota. You'll be at the pax terminal here on base, about a stone's throw from the Q that will be your sleep cave for 3-5 days. See you when you get here.
  12. Now that is a study in contrasts... Vetter, any thoughts?
  13. Here's a link to the specifics on Touro's website concerning the tuition assistance... http://www.tourou.edu/cba/mtap.htm
  14. I think we all know a couple (10) people (chicks) that should have gone back to work in the weather shop from whence she came...
  15. Gonads and Gumby, thanks for the help. You guys are echoing just what I've already heard... Touro ain't Harvard, but they're a free, flexible way to check that Master's box while working an ops tour. Cool. Your help is much appreciated.
  16. I found this stuff with the search, but it's pretty old...
  17. A couple of the flyers I’ve talked with have recommended Touro U for an online program to get an MBA. From what I hear they are very flexible with deployments and will also meet the rest of the cost that TA doesn’t provide. Has anyone gone through them to get your MBA? How did it work with deployments and TDYs while you were doing the classes? Would you recommend their program? Thanks for any help you can provide.
  18. That sounds strangely like Corpus... The standard brief "I won't be a good copliot or a bad copilot. I won't do anything unless you tell me to." The standard debrief "You really need to work on your CRM skills... you could have used your copilot a lot more." Gotta love the 'reality' of UPT...
  19. ... anybody? Scoobs, what would you do if the AF force shaped you out of your current job? I mean seriously... how would you deal?
  20. Of course they are!! At least that's what my jaded former T-38 FAIPs told me every day in T-6s. I'm such a disappointment to those guys. Everybody knows only real men get T-38s. It's very similiar logic to the USAFA vs. ROTC argument. Theoretically if you were a USAFA grad AND a T-38 pilot... you'd be untouchable.
  21. I bet it was born from jets, just like their CRAZY fast jetcars!
  22. Nicely done... I'll be waiting with bated breath for the Scoobs rebuttal!
